(The main leads are all in a room looking at each other. The stench of mistrust fills the air.)
Soo Ho: Ok somebody just killed the romance in Snowdrop, we have a imposter in our midst.
Young Ro: It's not me, I was in the Medical Bay making Magic Coffee.
Kang Moo: Magic Coffee that erases memories?
Young Ro: Yes...
Kang Moo: Young Ro is sus!
Young Ro: But Soo Ho was with me.
Soo Ho: I don't remember actually...
Cheong Ya: I can vouch for Young Ro, because I'm the third wheel
Kang Moo: Ok, Young Ro is safe.
Cheong Ya: Come to think of it, I did not see Boon Ok in the prayer room doing wires.
Kang Moo: Can anyone confirm what Boon Ok is doing in her room?
Boon Ok: It's not me!
Soo Ho and Kang Moo: Boon Ok is sus!!!
Boon Ok: Why does everybody suspect me? Isn't it enough that MDL hates me, and why aren't you suspecting Yoo Hyun Mi? She wrote this. Or better yet, why not suspects Ms. Pi!
Ms. Pi: Yoo Hyun Mi just gave me and Kang Moo a last minute Ship, it can't be us. Come to think of it, Boon Ok stole the paper airplane...
Soo Ho: Boon Ok is sus!!!
Boon Ok: How can you say that, we barely had any screen time together, and it's not my fault you can't remember your fish kiss with Young Ro.
Kang Moo: People! we need to stop fighting with each other. We are all Main Leads, so it's can be one of us, maybe one of the supporting characters.
90 minutes per episode at 16 episodes total, is just WAY too long for a drama that takes place 90% in one building.
The worst part is, they could have taken this chance to work on character growth among other things. But instead, they insisted on cramming 40 people in the Dorm.
I'm getting kind of tired of Kdrama putting so much filler scenes to achieve their run time quotas, it really kills the flow and writing.
In terms of story, Kdrama is still far away from western shows.
I find it kind of absurd that to justify that Chief An can keep 300M USD in his safe, is by having a box full of passbooks to make up for the remaining money.
The money $300M based on earlier conversation is enough to bankrupt the party, and yet they are ok with it, because they would rather win poor, then lose and go to jail.
Same here, I watch 90 minutes in a span of roughly 55-58 minutes, if at that even.
The list of things I skip:
-Any scene with the wives.
-Any scene with Hye Roung, Lee Kwang Tae and any hostage that isn't main cast.
-Any scene with Nam Tae il, the president, Eun Chang Su, and even Chief An
- Any other filler stuff. If it feels like filler, I will just FFWD.
- Not to be mean, but I've been skipping Young Ro's crying scenes. I've kind of gotten tired of them...
What I didn't understand was I thought they were wiring money, I didn't know the money was in physical assets. How were they planning on sending that money?
Lots of logic leaping in this one.
If you've spent any time watching ACTUAL political thrillers, Snowdrop's political plot is watery thin.
Everytime soo hoo thinks about how his dad want him dead. He tears up and is really sad.
Everytime he thinks of what he has done to young ro, neutral face.
If they really wanted to sell the romance. Having teary or puffy eyes whenever soo ho or young ro thinks about the hopelessness of their romance would do leaps and wonders in making the romance stronger.
To establish this, they need to show young ro not have so many tragedies and not be on constant cry mode. This really weakens the tragedy of the doomed romance of young ro and soo ho.
Seems like a minor change that would help the romance of the show.
Jung hae in is trying his best with his eyes, but the over abundance of tragedies has kind of made their romanctic feelings feel duller.
Absolutely love Jung hae in but in two minds whether to watch this one or not. Can someone please drop an unbiased…
Acting is mismatched, some are good, some are not. There are a lot of exaggerated acting from the other characters to punctuate the satire they are trying to create.
If you like scenes to have continuity and logic, you may be annoyed with a lot of the actions you will be seeing.
There is a really big cast, and you will tend to find some characters pretty useless. I know I do.
The plot is so-so. Since the run times are quite long, you will find the first half of each episode will be slow and draggy, then the last 30 minutes or so will get exciting.
There isn't much romance, and there is an overarching political plot that isn't well written. I personally skip a lot of scenes.
Some parts will drag, and will feel repetitive after a awhile.
to be honest i don't hate boon ok. no evil characters, and gray characters that i hate... but what frustrates…
I've been here from the beginning of the comment section. From what I observed, the minute Boon Ok was trying to find Soo Ho the spy, people already found her annoying and didn't like her. And then each episode, she is given less and less good acts, and as early as Episode 6, people had already full on hated her.
It didn't have much to do with her later acts, people had already decided they wanted to dislike her, so they never gave her a chance. And then it devolved into mob rule, where it was popular to thrash her.
None of the hostages, seem to feel the fear of dying. Like prior to Ep. 13, most of them were worrying about law exams, trips to Europe, it was really only Boon Ok who really understood that she could die that day. None of the other hostages seem to take the situation seriously. And when they showed the concerned parents, Boon Ok's parent's of course were not there. So most of the hostages were comforted knowing that their loving parents are waiting for them outside.
That's the thing, people ASSUME, that boon ok will kill people to survive, or she will sacrifice people for her to gain power. But that isn't shown anywhere, it's mostly conjecture and assumptions. Just like, do we know if Soo Ho had ever planned on pressing the detonator? we can never know since it never happened, or the situation never escalated there. We base her actions on our perceived negative bias of Boon Ok.
it's like imagine 30 people in a room with a bag of money. When the hostage takers come back, he immediately blames Boon Ok without evidence, because she seemed the most likely to do it. It's not a fair rationale and is heavily steeped in bias.
I saw the scene differently, and I explain it in detail in my discussion topic "The Tragedy of Boon Ok"
I won't stop you from hating her, that's your choice. For me, she's plenty redeemable.
It's not about what they did that makes people hate them, it's why they do it The doctor is doing all the "bad"…
So if Boon Ok's mission was to kill innocent people, that is ok, since that's her mission, if not her family may die? So we can rationalize if she has to sacrifice a few people so she won't die. We understand and sympathize with Cheong Ya.
Boon Ok's mission is to keep herself alive, because if she dies, her father will have no one to take care of him and he will die also. So she has to do everything needed to make sure she is alive, which may include sacrificing a few people. But we don't understand and sympathize with her?
How is Cheong Ya's reasons more valid than Boon Ok's? They are both doing it for their families. Cheong Ya is just more mature at 36, vs Boon Ok who is 24 years old. People seem to be able to give Young Ro an excuse for being 20 years old, but Boon OK who is only a little bit older is expected to be super mature?
When she had power, she used it to get revenge on Hye Roung and Seoul Hee, the two people who torment her. But if you rewatch the scene, she actually shares the food with all of them, except for her two tormentors. Did she enjoy the power? Yes she did, but didn't really abuse it as much as you think. She enforced it, she made it clear that she was in charge, but she wasn't abusing it, she was just enjoying it. Which is understandable given her background.
Cheong Ya is not her "Boss", what she is instead is to be one of the few people in Boon ok's life to believe in her, to respect her. Why do you think it crushed her so much when she realizes that Cheong Ya is no better than her tormenters? She was actually being loyal to her new "family". Something that wasn't reciprocated by Cheong Ya when she gave Boon Ok an empty gun.
Not that it's an excuse, but Ms. Pi was clearly pushing Boon Ok's button, which felt stupid on Ms. Pi's part. She was provoking a person who isn't very mentally stable.

The Cook is not the Impostor...

Young Ro is the mole.
This is starting to sound like a Marvel movie.
Well played Disney... well played....

I've had more "Huh?" moments, than "Aha" moments.
Unfortunately there is also a lot of bad ones.
The bad ones distract from the good ones.
I've said since day 1, snowdorp needs a smaller cast.
The political angle specifically annoys me so much.
I just make leaps of logic to get past certain parts.

Overall, a so-so drama that isn't boring.
