I teared up as Gao Dafen walked out of Tianranβs apartment with so much sadness on his face and he was too embarrassed…
The director, which is the same as in Unchained Love, is so good at mixing comic and dramatic scenes together. One second you're crying with laughter, the next you're tearing up at heart-tugging scenes. Other scenes I teared up in here were during invisible guy's birthday in ep 5 and when the gang showed up at Mr. Ji's dinner in ep 18.
I canβt get that song out of my head now. LOL π
Me too. I've been searching for pinyin lyrics of the song so I can sing along π Even Mr Zheng sounded great π Bai Ma Shuai is so funny being out of tune and earnestly rehearsing until he lost his voice π
Having said the above, I can understand why viewers would rashly judge the ML for going along with the concubine…
Thank you :) The injustice this drama got from unreasonable viewers just filled me with indignation. Viewers lambasted this for featuring the concubine system. For one, there are so many cdramas featuring the concubine system - Story of Yanxi Palace, Story of Minglan, Princess Weiyoung, to name a few. Why absolve the others and lambast this? Secondly, if viewers just tried to understand the drama, it actually condemns the system. So the criticism it got was severely undeserved and unfair.
Iam sad few people know about this it's soo good yet soo underrated π₯²
It's a daytime 30-minute sitcom so I think it was not expected to be as widely watched as nightime dramas. Even so, it attained a 7000 heat index in IQiyi which I understand is the highest rating for a sitcom so far
this is my favorite comment about the drama so far. π thank you for this. im currently only on episode 14 but…
Thank you. I love this drama so much. Aside from featuring a beautiful slow-burn romance, the drama also deals with substantial themes like the concubine system, female empowerment and the sea ban. It's perfectly acted and directed. The OST and cinematography are awesome. This is in my list of top 5 best cdramas.
I can't stop laughing in episode 9 and 10 for negotiation scene... and buggy jumping scene... love this drama..
They were all in awe of her poise and confidence, yet she was screaming for help inside π and they were talking to each other mentally, reminding me of Xiao Duo and Bu Yinlou in Unchained Love π
I didn't know the actress who plays Ms Wu was also in LBFAD. She looks so different in each role. 'Wonder if she and Didi have the same agency.
Ep 10 - the Office Guardian strikes again. I love him π
'love him too. Sad but funny how invisible he is - the camera actually made him invisible when he nearly got caught eavesdropping by the vice chairman's office door π€£ Hardly anyone acknowledges his texts in wechat. And is his background music out-of-tune? π€£ But his birthday in ep 5 sold me on this drama. It's a comedy with heart
LMAO at the quirky scenes with Dylan scaling the windows and the earthquick chair! π All of his facial expressions…
with earthquick chair, do you mean when Jiang Mei gets drunk? I have been wondering what causes it. Is it his tremors or is it Jiang Mei causing the chair to quake?

I'm laughing hard just recalling the negotiation scene, what they were thinking vs what they were emoting. And Ms. Wu's face, having undergone so much plastic surgery, not showing any emotion π€£π€£π€£
This is hilarious π€£ My face is almost in a permanent grin while watching. In an interview, Dylan Wang said that there were so many scenes where he laughed and cried while filming π€£ I bet one of those scenes was the "negotiation" π€£π€£π€£ Who would have thought the same actress who played Bu Yinge in Unchained Love would be this funny?
Hear, hear, I don't think the cut scenes are a big deal, the story is still intact. But the cuts definitely made…
