Love that, shaking the tree = shaking his heart. This important moment is made more meaningful by the many symbolisms. This is one reason I love this drama. It speaks to viewers’ hearts with the music, humor, visuals and deeper meaning behind what you see and hear.

I agree. When I’m feeling the drama deeply, I think technical flaws are immaterial when the emotional attachment is off the charts. This is how I feel about Eternal Love/Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. I ignore the less-than-perfect cgi because the "feels" are amazing!

Wow, even after watching this scene 3 times, I still missed that symbolism of the flowers falling to represent him falling in love with her. This is one of my most favorite scenes. Now it has an added meaning, thanks! Yes, I chuckled at the name of his room 😂

Was the traffic star involved in the cancellation of ZZH? I heard ZLH is now BL's bf. How true? :) The rivalry among LLTG, LBFAD and IS was fierce. IS went to the top only after LLTG and LBFAD ended. LLTG did not do well in Netflix while LBFAD did very well, becoming just the second cdrama to exceed 1000 top10 points. A company named Huanrui seems to be CY's backer.

I didn't pick up on the symbolism of the pear tree bearing fruit as I have been struck by how similar XD's musing about traces of her everywhere in his house was to Dongfang Qingcang's remark about Orchid leaving traces of herself in his sea of emotion. But I agree, it does look auspicious for our cp's fate

Well said. I got goosebumps reminiscing how important the dilapidated hut was to their romance. I love how XD remembers what she says and does then acts on them, like buying the hut and turning it into this idyllic place just because he saw how reluctant she was to leave it. Dream Cloud Pavilion, with the pink field nearby, feels like paradise.

Regarding what they will do in the future, with their intelligence and his ample wealth, the possibilities are endless. They can also open a restaurant, even a chain of them, as front for their spy network. XD's spicy chicken looks really yum. And his men are already adept at catching the main ingredient 🤣

I cried when I noticed their pear tree bearing fruits after she left. I also imagine it being moved to the Dream Cloud Pavilion. XD seemed sad about the frozen tree. Did it symbolize his brother? If so, they can also move it to DCP and surround it with beautiful plants.

I'm chuckling now too as I remember the scenes 😂 Their banter is really precious. They are so comfortable with each other, they act like a married couple even before they get married. And BYL acts either like a wife or mother to him. In any case, you can tell she really cares.

oh yeah, how could they forget Eunuch Ba? 🤣 I just thought of another business XD can go into - a spy network or detective agency. Yinlou can even help out with that witty, cunning and scheming head of hers 🤣

Another funny scene which is also romantic - when XD visited BYL after poisoning her at the imperial prison to make the empress drop her guard regarding the fox demon case. BYL was being all excited and proud but also sarcastic about acting her part well, getting back at XD by patting and grasping his cheeks and XD being all apologetic and clingy, and them ending in a compromising act that left lipstick marks all over XD's face when they were interrupted by Cao Chun'ang. I think that was a well choreographed comedy moment, especially the part where she held him off with her foot, then him running a glance down her leg figuring out how to best pin her on the bed 🤣

I love the ending. I think it elevated the drama to art. As the drama did from time to time, e.g. the subtle jokes, the ending made us think and left us to finish the story as we like, but giving clues as to the most probable outcome. First, XD and BYL ran out of the Imperial City together, with no guards to stop them. Yu Zun must have arranged it with the remnants of the Zhaoding Bureau, meaning XD would still have power even when he leaves the city. He will probably establish a martial arts sect in West Shu while he and BYL raise their family at Dream Cloud Pavilion. The burning pagoda obliterated BYL's past identity - Yu Zun told the emperor they found her body. So BYL is free to be whoever she wants to be, aside from being XD's wife and Lian Cheng's cousin. I can see Yu Zun becoming one of XD's best friends. Perhaps he might even strike a romance with Meng Jie Yu. Should the emperor survive, I doubt he would still be able to function properly. He was already tormented by his guilt over the crown prince's accidental death. How much more tormented would he be thinking he caused BYL's death? Death would be a merciful option for him. With no ability to have heirs, he will probably be forced to abdicate. Or Wan Wan can be his regent, or if the court officials disallow females from the position, Liangxu can be. Or Liangxu can be king. Or Wan Wan and Liangxu can marry and have a son who would continue the Murong dynasty. There are endless possibilities, my imagination is running wild :)

Well said. I like your rambling or rant as you call it :) it shows your enthusiasm for the drama. I love how intelligent both Xiao Duo and Bu Yinlou are, allowing them to collaborate spontaneously like when BYL helped XD smuggle the crown prince out of Fengyi Palace. I enjoy their repartee, showing how well matched their wits are. I think this is the first drama I've watched where both leads were able to run out of the Imperial City together. Yu Zun let them go because he respected and admired their help in quelling Liangshi's rebellion, not to mention Wan Wan probably pleaded on their behalf. I bet Yu Zun was even relieved that BYL got out of her prison in Futu Pagoda.

Yeah, XD's wistful thinking in ep 32 is so touching and prescient. Some of it is repeated in the second extension video.

Your explanation of the symbolism of the cherries - his bleeding heart and her picking them up one by one to put herself back together - made me teary eyed. That scene is so devastating.

You're right. The cuts undermined the quality of the drama as a whole. Reviewers in other platforms claimed there were so many cuts nobody could understand the story anymore. I wonder if these reviewers watched the drama at all or just jumped on the bandwagon.

There are so many more amusing and titillating moments, I think at least one per episode, that endear this drama to its admirers. I look forward to them and still laugh while re-watching the drama.

In ep 3:
1. When XD and Cao Chun'ang found out Fu went to see BYL, CCA remarked, "This Prince Fu... Is this the time to be dating?"

2. When BYL was trying to remember who Fu was, she asked him, "Are you the one I owe money to because of a card game... the one who got kicked into the pond by me... the one I secretly dismantled the wheels of?" These give ideas of how cheeky she must have been growing up.

3. XD and BYL's conversation after Fu fell into the pond is an example of their amusing banter that shows how matched their wits are, like when he tried to intimidate her saying, "I don't mind personally killing you without Prince Fu knowing" and she retorted, "Don't, there are so many people here. It's not a good place to kill people." then the camera showed they were alone in the vast dark garden and she resorted to her usual flattery, "It could seem like there's no one around here. But you're a big shot, there might be someone watching you in the dark. It's just for your sake." and XD answered, "A wise man submits to fate." The conversation continues with his challenge to make her admit she likes the trappings of wealth and power which she has been denying. It ends with him holding up his sword as he departs, "You are the first woman to have opened this". Does this mean she was the first woman to disarm his heart?

This drama is about dealing with oppression or chains symbolized by the Futu Pagoda, the emperor, the empress, the Imperial Mausoleum, Eunuch Liu, etc. I've read reviews in other platforms about being turned off by the drama because of the shocking treatment of the tribute ladies and the infuriating presence of the emperor. I think making viewers shocked and infuriated at oppression is exactly how the drama drives home the point. Imagine how those tribute ladies and Bu Yinlou felt, being subjected to such oppression. Xiao Duo deals with another type of oppression too. Feeling empathy for these characters would make viewers rejoice at the ending.
