For those asking, while Money Heist (the original) has multiple seasons... however, the story set in the 'Mint' and now, in the Joint-Economic Area spans only 9+6=15 episodes (as originally aired on a Spanish Network). These are parts 1 & 2 of Season 1. And Parts 3, 4, & 5 are a completely different story, with different sets of characters.
>>We are 98 hours into the Heist, and as per Nairobi's calculations... we have only 72 hours (i.e. 3 days left to print the remaining money). As per the episode summaries, we have covered enough plot upto ep. 8 of 15. I.e. well into the halfway mark of the original S1. (Pacing is okay)
>>Part 1 of the original started airing in May, and Part 2 in October (on the Spanish network). When Netflix started producing the series, the gap between Part 3 & 4 was 9 months.
So, MDL'ers... we could be looking at anywhere between a few days/ weeks to almost months till we get Part II of Money Heist: JEA. π You're welcome! :P
well, I could say that snowdrop is taken from the original money heist!
The hostage situation, the negotiation moves, and even the character-setups are identical (although a bit shuffled around & sometimes gender-reversed to avoid the accusation of plagiarism) . Classic example of the 'yeah, you can copy my homework, but change it up a bit, so it doesn't look obvious' meme.
maybe itβs just me but I want Tokyo and rio to have a kiss scene or a sex scene also seoul will definitely have…
Who is Seoul? :O :O I don't think the younger ones (Tokyo/ Rio) will have to do a sex-scene, when there are so many veterans in the cast, with 'k-movie' experience, to literally take their clothes off :P
Some of the fans of original say, it is too similar to original (not sure what you expected), and some that the…
The younger, rookie actors are killing it. Tokyo, Rio, Denver with his satoori. They also had more challenging scenes. The thing with having Yoo Ji Tae, Park Hae Soo & Lee Won Jong, is that we suffer from over-expectation. They are yet to impress.
I understand better why there are so many comments from disappointed people now that I've seen episode 1.They…
-I agree, I wish they had dug more into character motivations & personalities. The members regularly switch from playing Good Cop to Bad Cop & vice versa. Suddenly, they are too nice. Suddenly, they are mean & violent. WTF. Major whiplash. -A-Team? I thought they are 'dumb-and-dumber'. Is that how the original characterization were? They are majorly talented, fit, athletic, experienced etc. But apart from the Prof, none of them have half a brain geared towards foresight of any kind. Also, few months of training is TOO less to build camaraderie, imo. There's a reason why defense training across the world ranges from 1-3 yrs. -Yeah, the tonal shift b/w the jokes & the romance. But then again, most heists don't go on with an initial plan of 7 days, i.e. 168hours min. You'd need the distraction, & so would we. -I care for the plot (the cliffhangers are juicy to me, as someone who hasn't watched the original). Characters... I'm not too sure. Tokyo already gives me major Sae-Byeok vibes. I'm not ready for her to die.
I think I fist-pumped into the air when: 1. Tokyo thinks 2 steps ahead, & knows that the annoying Mint-Chief would get shot by the cops, & the heist-group wouldn't have to dirty their hands. Then, BOOM. She lays down the guns, & Mint-Chief get shot. Hooray! 2. The mask-switch which causes the police-infiltrators to back the f*ck off. 3. When they reveal the infiltrating cop that was rage-shot by Berlin, actually WASN'T dead! 4. As you can see, I'm on the side of the robbers. I'm cheering FOR them. I just flashbacked to the Prof.'s comment from ep1. 'They'll be cheering for us, from the outside.' And then I realized, right now, he was talking about *us*. And that was meta-commentary on-pointttt! :P <3 <3
I haven't seen the original, but with Park Hae Soo, red jumpsuits, scary masks & Netflix involved, I really thought it would be more like Squid Games, but turned out to be.... Snowdrop, set in 2025, with higher but intentional stakes. I mean, even Yoo In-Na's character twist is the same as the Professor's, in ep 1. Hahah! xD
what are your guys fav Pan Er/Qian Fan moments so far? My absolute fav is the scene from episode 6 from the time…
Boats & curtains seem to be a recurring theme in their relationship. And some of my favorites too. The scene where a wounded QF 'sees' ZPE's bare shoulders & silhouette through the partition... he was a goner since then. He'd been eyeing her since their first interaction at the tea-house. There was something so seductive & domestic about their ship-ride to the capital. Both dressed as commoners, Liu Yifei with her cascading tresses. That must be a sight to see! :P I can see why QF jumped for her. I would too. xD
The eye-f*cking from the boat, while ZPE is at the balcony. Classic Romeo-Juliet moment. A favorite of many, on MDL too. The palpable sexual-tension through the curtains in the rain, after Yinzhang's divorce. Again, classic stuff. The head-roll was adorable. So was QF swatting ZPE's hands when she was trying to argue with Mr. Gao. Hahaha. Him tending to her wounds, her cooking for him & him observing her through another curtain......
I'd say the whole interrogation-scene & what followed afterwards was also very well-acted. Tad predictable, but their conflict & her sense of betrayal... ooooof! <3 <3
If this drama gets the same treatment as legend of Hao Lan, I would be so dissapointed. The way some of you would…
I would not compare the two. Watching Hao Lan was getting immediate flashbacks to Yingluo from Yanxi Palace, esp with the shouty, over-smart FL, who would be dead in either case within the first 5 minutes of daring to talk back to her superiors. Yanxi Palace worked, because it was in many ways, the 'first' of its kind... very entertaining chick-fighting in the Harem, with beautiful visuals. It was almost like crack. Can't say the same about Hao Lan. Also, Wu Jinyan has this way of delivering her period characters, where every interpretation is the exact same, and thus predictable.
ADOS has entirely different beats from either Yanxi Palace or Hao Lan. For starters, the way the FL is written. She doesn't have an invincible plot-armor. She isn't written as an 'anti-Mary Sue' like either of the WJY characters. She isn't even a Mary-Sue, which she easilyyyyy could have become.
Pan-er's weaknesses actually exist that get her into repeated trouble, instead of being these weirdly anachronistic personality traits given by the author, only so that multiple men can fall for her. She's idealistic, but she often short-changes herself. She believes in others, but loses faith often. She's jaded, yet she dares to love once more. She's independent & self-reliant to a fault, but relents once she's cornered. She isn't 100% of one trait and 0% of the other traits. And that is what makes her an extremely well-written character who feels *real*, unlike the likes of Yanxi/ Hao Lan FLs.
But, I agree. Most of MDL does not critically evaluate dramas. We are all here to slurp up entertainment. Cracky entertainment. Both Yanxi & ADOS give us that. The MDL ratings are just a shame.
I think I got it right. 27 & 32 from the original drama has been swapped here. Since SD1D released in 2019, and Yuxuan was turning 27 at the beginning of the show. In 2023, for the Korean remake, our FL Junhee will be 27+4+1= 32. Bus no. 32 and Record Shop no. 32 of the original have already been replaced by Bus no. 27 & Shop no. 27 (as per the shooting leaks!) The last birthday celebrated by Yuxuan with Quansheng was her 25th birthday. Here, it would be her 29th birthday. As per Korean traditional legend, 9, 19, 29, 39... etc.... are all 'danger years', where one can die. Her boyfriend Yeonjun, the same age as her, thus dies.... at 29! :O :O
The sum of 2 & 3 is 5. The difference between 2 & 7 is ALSO 5. I LOVE THE SHOW WRITERS. They have immense respect for the original script & yet, they are going to inject a Korean flavor into it. Guys... let's keep our hopes up! <3
