The fact that people on MDL are still debating on whether (a story like) Pachinko 'belongs' on MDL or 'doesn't belong'... whether it's 'Korean enough' to have a spot here or not, is so incredibly fitting, poetic and ironical. 😅 Humans really learn nothing....!
"Was it bound to happen, or was I the one who made it happen." That's a powerful theme we might be heading towards, despite the fluffy setting, by the looks of it. 'Free will' VS. 'destiny/ fate' will always be one of my favorite narratives! <3
Disturbing things about KMSD, which has nothing to do with the 'conventionally problematic' themes of the show:
1. The whole stalker-fan premise. It's just SO creepy. I guess 90's groupie setting wasn't considered as wild. Professing 'love' for your idols, when you don't know the first thing about them. Dating someone, with huge posters of you in their room. :O :O
2. She's 17, cool. But the writers keep drilling the fact that she's a minor, by having her repeatedly behave like an annoying, entitled teen. Outside the one-night stand, it's quite obvious that even Keigo realizes he's dealing with a minor. Wtf.
3. Keigo falling for her, because of his trauma with his earlier partner ( & as a do-over) is the the only reason I'm willing to buy. Which is again, super disturbing considering the fact that he wants to be with her, because of her life-threatening condition.
4. Takeshi Kaneshiro's leaking Taiwanese-accent. So, so hilarious & always manages to take me out of the show.
5. The running. Are they always late? Why do I fear one of them is going to trip & fall (& bleed to death?) xD
Watch 'I don't love you yet'... :DIshida Ren >>>>>>>>
Yeah, I went back to the original because I wanted to cry some more after finishing the JP remake. I initially dropped the Tw one, because of the horrible print quality, lol!
Looking forward for this drama. Just one complain, why k-drama always like to choose older female lead vs young…
Maybe in some other drama, for some other plot-line, but not this one. Even the original had a 7 year age diff b/w the main leads, with Alice being older than Greg. They need be a 'certain' age, and have a 'certain look', because the FL plays characters b/w 17 and 29. The ML plays characters b /w 17 and 41. There are times when the FL's char is older than the ML's. And there are other times when the ML's char is (significantly) older than the FL. Trust the casting director on this one. Sorry, cannot give out more spoilers, but it needs to be this way. As someone who's watched the original, neither Kim So Hyun nor anybody from her age range would work. And if you pick KSH, then you have to age-down the ML even more (which is again, not possible)
Can't believe they haven't revealed the actors for the Sweet-Uncle and the Creepy-Psychologist!!!! Looking forward to the Mom too, but I bet it's going to be Jang Hye Jin! <3
Because Orad denies himself existence, right?20 years ago, Orad told Fali "he is a lie", that is actually what…
Yes, this is the crux of the issue. The larger picture. However, my point was how Tien-Di must die in order for that to happen. And what that prophecy of 'the last rain' actually meant.
We all know Fali (aka Lemed) is the mastermind behind all the events that happen since ep 1. There is no 'reflection of time' shown to Orad by Kakarayan, instead it's only the sequence of events shown to Orad, as per Lemed's plans. If Kakarayan would have it, then he would *never* choose to wake up, but rather live vicariously through Orad, living forever with Tien-Di.
Thus, to wake Kakarayan up, the current 'dream-world' has to end. All the Kawas have to leave eventually & 'go to Pinokayan', not because they are withdrawing their blessings due to being angry at humans for destroying the planet, but because Fali has planned it so. He has to 'shut-down' this world after all.
Fali knows, Orad being attached to Tien-Di, and also being the 'messenger of Kakarayan' would logically be the last Kawas to leave. Thus, after all the Kawas have left, Tient-Di has to die next, in order to 'push Orad over the threshold'. And once Orad crosses over, 'no more rain will fall on Earth', as he is the Rain-God too. However, the catch of the prophecy is, if Fali's plan goes through... then there won't BE any planet/ world for the Rain to fall to, as the world containing Orad & Tient-Di would have come to end, thereby waking Kakarayan up.. In short, all of it was Fali's lies. Or rather half-truths. xD
JUST finished re-watching, this time on Netflix, and with my Mum. It's almost as if you knew! :P xD Brilliantly written...! Mum (& even my) favorite is Seri & her five-ducklings. We've had Switzerland on our bucket-list, but couldn't travel, so it was an added treat to see the beautiful Alps and the mountainous-lakes! <3 <3 Ps. She whole-heartedly ships the two main-leads, even though she knew (& even told me) that the leads got married, which I happily pretended not to know! I cried buckets during the first-watch, but this time I savored the fun moments more! :')
I really, realllyyyy hope those who haven't watched this brilliant drama would give it a try! And I hope your article is one of the many reasons that finally convince them! ^^
In no doubt am I saying AHS can't act or that he's not a talented actor. It's true he has done various kind of…
But then, you kinda assuaged your own doubts on AHS. See, NJH didn't impress you with any of his earlier works. Most were also concerned that a 'novice' like him was cast gainst an acting heavy-weight like Kim Taeri. How was he going to hold up, on his own? What a mismatched pairing it was, we all thought. Lo and behold, fast forward to february and everyone was singing praises! The deal with break-through performances is that you can have a chain of mediocre works, but one lucky click of fate and self-efforts, and you end up giving a stellar performance. People no longer think of you aa a one-trick pony, but a truly talented professional. So... the point here is... let's give AHS a chance. While the ML performance in SD1D is really close to everybody's hearts, let's also think back if we watched the original with the firm belief that Greg Hsu is the best actor on this planet? No, right? We watched with fresh eyes, and we let the actor's performance enthrall us. Let us also extend a similar benefit of doubt to AHS here! <3
I became taiwanese drama fan after watching this❤️❤️Can someone recommend me some good taiwanese drama...not…
MARS and Autumn's Concerto (classics, but old).. Rainless Love in a Godless Land, In Time With You (same production team, 3 Phoenixes), A 1000 Goodnights (a love-letter to Taiwan), Lost Romance (fantasy/ comedy), etc.
JTBC & Swoon/Netflix promoted the daylights out of FLAW, why can’t MLN get the same treatment 😒.
Because even if they pour in the money for promotions, the new viewers are likely to drop this. Not everybody appreciates stories/ genres like this one. It's not everyone's cup of tea, I believe! :')
