The biggest plus point for Ren/ Rui is that he is the nicest amongst f4. He's directly put to comparison with Thyme/ Domyouji, as a result, we think he's a Prince-Charming or something. I had major heart-eyes for him cuz of Oguri Shun in HYD 2005 (my first). Then I watched BoF, found his interpretation was completely different: 'from annoyed at Jan Di disturbing his privacy & solitude to a completely different character arc'... so I don't consider that canon. I had forgotten the Manga at that point completely. Then I watched MG 2018 last year, and good lord, I hated Lei, who seemed to use his social/ mental disorder to do be a jackass (with a sweet face though, that fools everybody). I also saw MG 2001, and I was like, wait a minute, he's SUPPOSED to be an ass, we just give him a lot of free pass, and that's a neat little trick from the author!! So yes, his whole 'Shizuka is my only one-true-love' to 'flirting with Makino to soothe his boredom' to actively KNOWING just how much she feels for him (because he's insightful that way), and actively/ purposefully making light of her feelings. Ugh. Inexcusable.

The fact that Bright & the Director KNEW it was at THAT moment Thyme would be a GONER for the rest of the story.... tells me the LA is in safe hands! :')

Can we talk about how physically strong she looks? I can safely assume her character fights daily with her brother. Ain't no skin-&-bones supermodel actress convincing me she can drop-kick Thyme! xD

The FL has always been described as a 'diamond in the rough' kind of a beauty, so I don't think Tu is miscast for the role. In fact, in Thailand, she's ironically being online-bullied for 'not being skinny/ pretty/ stunning/ fair/ western-looking' enough. What a weird world. To me, she's absolutely perfect visually. She looks girl-next-door in pajamas, and dressed-up, looks fittingly as if she can bring Thyme to his knees (which she can, and does!)
I also like that f4 boys look more foreign-blooded, whereas the FL looks more ethnically Thai. Heck, Tu reminds me of a baby Liu Yifei from early 2000's! :')

Okay, first of all. A clarification.
In the source-material, it is never explicitly shown 'what' Domyouji asks those cronies to do, in order to scare Makino. However, in the scene where he gets mad at them for the SA, and says 'you went too far, I never asked you to do that'... is when you can logically conclude he never ordered them to SA her. Is he an angel? No. But at least he isn't in the red for asking them to SA. Low bar, I know... :P This scene is always up to interpretation to different directors, and just HOW much they wish to push boundaries!

Here, Thyme's pissed at Ren for a completely different reason though! Him intervening, is a direct defiance and challenge by Ren to Thyme's authority & leadership in the group. That too over a person that's in Thyme's black-list already. Secondly, Thyme's hero-complex takes a severe blow. Since he's completely against the SA, he cannot digest the fact that Ren took over his role as the 'savior', and is now the bigger guy, and that he himself did not get to put a stop to this situation. Not realizing the fact that had Ren not stopped those guys, yes, Gorya would have very much been SA'ed on the school-complex. He's dumb, y'know. Often times, it's MJ who makes him see the bigger picture. It's a problematic premise, I agree.

Sadly, minors bullying other minors cannot warrant jail-time? A public-apology is what everybody gets, at MAX. The cute-fluffy scenes are nice, but I hope this version can have f4 finally apologizing at a press-con. Because that's the biggest proof of a character growth, esp the ML! :')

Actually, NONE of the LAs do justice to the FL's dilemma, and just HOW long it takes for her to acknowledge and reconcile her feelings towards him. Even if you remove all external influence and tropey interventions from side-characters, the to-&-fro b/w them is waaaaay more realistic and representative of a real life late-adolescent romantic pair, given the issues they both have. Instead of say, a straight & smooth journey to a 'happily-ever-after.'
Heck, even Gorya cannot see how/ why SHE would end up with Thyme! xD
I'm only worried 16 episodes is not enough to capture her inner-struggle.
From a literary POV, you cannot deny what a great character journey the ML has. No wonder he enjoys a solid popularity amongst the reader-base, than say, in the Manga-verse.

Please, I smelled 'asshole' on him the moment Rui flirted with Makino in FRONT of Shizuka's poster. I guess I have met too many fuckboys in this lifetime, so I may be projecting. But yeah, Rui/ Ren is one of those characters who are AMAZING friends, and completely shitty boyfriends. -_-

Yep, Gorya is everything I wanted from our heroine too, and even more T_T Hi5 chingu, we might have to start a support group to keep our sanity intact till it finishes airing in April! ^^ Who's starting, and where do I sign up? xD

Ugh, waiting for the next few episodes to drop, so I can have a discussion on just HOW much of an ass Ren's character is -_-

At least from the trailer, they'll have the iconic rooftop scene between the two, and I'm SO excited for it! Also, I love how they made Kavin's family be into the flower-garland business, whereas Kanning (& Gorya) both work at a florist shop, which btw, is very fittingly named 'Meteor Garden' (in Thai) ❤

Istg, if they cannot give me enough 'dumb' Domyouji getting basic stuff wrong, then I'm going to go back to MG 2018. Dao Ming Si is idiotic there, like 90% of the time! T_T

Ahhh yess, it HAS to be the scene they are stuck together for the entire night together. The ML is the one who catches a cold, and sleeps on the FL's lap. I *think* Thyme's fever comes down in the middle of the night, but Gorya would have caught the bug from him as well. Probably why he lends his lap to her for the night?
Either way, one of the UwU est moments of the story! T_T
