I feel like this message from the writer, that only people who know Japanese can understand the drama, comes more…
I have native proficiency in 3 languages, and I'm currently learning my 4th (japanese). Safe to say, incorrect subs/ loose translation have made me livid before, so I completely echo the writer's sentiment. Silent is a very dialogue-heavy script, unlike the standard 'i've nothing to do, so let's watch a j-drama' kind of a show. I had a feeling since ep.2, this story is better enjoyed and understood in the native language itself.
I hope the k-remake sticks to this original drama's ending, and not adapt any of the soon-releasing movie's sub-plots. I want the k-fans to eventually watch the movie, if they wish to know more. And perhaps even also find and watch this 13-ep original masterpiece! T__T I want them to know Greg and Alice will forever be our Li Ziwei X Huang Yuxuan <3
Because there are no subs... all i could focus was on: - Why are there fake sakura trees in his bedroom? - Why does he scowl while delivering his lines? - Why are her roots so distracting?!
Okay, the FL is a terrible friend. (as she is, as a romantic lead) I surely did not sign up to this kind of a friendship. (and certainly not this kind of a romance). -___-
Why it's a big-deal:-The story was announced to be based-off of Utada Hikaru's First Love & Hatsukoi. The singer…
Okay, so the Johnny's connection is... the song 'First Love' by Utada Hikaru was also the title track/ theme song for a j-dorama from the 90's called 'Majo no Jouken'. It made loads of waves back then as a student-teacher romance drama, which also starred an actual minor. The actor, who played the role of the High School student is Hideaki Takizawa (fondly known as Taki)... he's an ex-Johnny idol (& actor) but he's sort of been 'adopted' as the heir of the old Johnny's boss, and currently has taken over as their... CEO? after slowly phasing out his idol/ acting career. He's the one I was talking about (with lots of fangirls)...
honestly rather than tsumugi, i feel like minato was the one looking to replace sou. i feel like to him tsumugi…
THIS!!! Honestly, I thought this was the biggest twist in ep4. (That the petty rivalry most of us thought was what Minato felt for Sou, turned out to be genuine love for his friend.)
I started to think that this drama has a direction problem. this drama tends to make characters do something over…
They have been heavy-handed with certain things, i agree... which is why i initially did not take to the drama despite an interesting premise. I still believe the story has immense potential though, and with good direction, can be a memorable watch! :)
istg ppl on mydramalist are different breed the way many ppl on other platform are loving minato but ppl here…
Thank you for this! Ep 4 has cemented my thoughts on Sou X Minato... story-telling wise, they are a more compelling/ complex dynamic to watch than either of the boys' relationship/ dynamic with Tsumugi. It's quite interesting how all these years later, Minato made the same mistake as Tsumugi; both of then unilaterally left her without really mutually deciding on the break-up. It's a nice parallel, but then again, she's free to do what she wants now :) And for those quick to call Minato the devil (and other synonymous adjectives reserved for the second leads).... should either try to appreciate the complexities and nuances of this meaty story, or just watch standard, vanilla-ass, straightforward romance dramas instead... :/
He legit looks like how Bright Vachirawit would look at 40, if he started smoking now...
Hmm, now that I think about it, I think one of Bright's earlier projects had him smoke for a role, where he played a school delinquent? He definitely doesn't look like he's smoker, the actor who plays the ex fiance does though! Glad I'm not the only one seeing a resemblance! :D
Choppy and cheaply edited scenes. The dialogues have barely been edited after being lifted straight from the manga. A low effort production. Watching the cringe-fest with half of my face hidden behind my hands! xD xD Also, the dude's voice... isn't that deep IRL. It's so fake, haha! xD
If it isn't, i'm gonna throw hands.
Edit: be prepared with your tissues! :')
