can someone let me know what doors are included in the drama? just finished the novel and i loved it, im hoping…
In the series: 1. Winter Cabin 2. Fitcher's Bird 3. Skin Drum 4. Sako/Lu Zo Zi 5. Psych Hospital 6. Woman of Rain 7. River God/Oil Lamp 8. Teru Teru Bozu 9. Hako Onna
Some doors are passed without detail.
If I'm remembering correctly, the Sculptures, Hotel on Fire, The Ship and the Slenderman doors are not included. Pity, but the show doesn't suffer for it. The series actually differs in quite a few ways from the novel though. Watching it will be deliver a different experience almost entirely. They're both so damn good in different ways.
"The lady seemed to be of mixed-race. Her eyebrows were rather thick and broad, quite beautiful..."
I'm randomly thinking of how well Xia Zhiguang fits the description of Ruan Nanzhu in terms of appearance in the novel...with the exception of not being 1.9m tall, the casting was spot on π
Welcome to the club..It's good to know that more people are fond of this series. If you're looking for the book,…
Cn BL's are just built different. Heh. Quality and intensity and plot.
And just a follow up about the question of a translated copy, it has been licensed for English translation, it was announced several months ago, but at the moment there's still no release date. Since it was announced last year though, it very well could drop this year. I'll post about it if I hear anything. I understand wanting to own the hardcopy, so if you're willing to hold out, it might not be too long. βοΈπ
Anybody explain me.?? Isn't chinese bl plots are banned?? Then how this could be possible??
Long story short: the production company was sneaky and through some technical and clever loop holes they slipped the show past the strict censorship. But it was taken down from iQiyi just two hours ater it aired. Even so, Chinese fans managed to download ALL the eps and proceeded to distribute it unofficially, and eventually fans started subbing it. It has gained a following despite it's obstacles and was recently re-aired officially on Viki and Viu.
Many are still hopeful iQiyi will re-air it, since at the moment there's an unfulfilled 'coming soon' for it on iQiyi.
What the fuck was ep 34? Do they really need to kill so many important characters? Like what the fuck.... I am…
Personal opinion here: but I think it's good writing. Storys set in the violence/horror genre where no main characters die (especially when there are many characters) is very unrealistic. In a situation like what is presented in the show, realistically, all the faves can't survive just because they're faves. If none of the main characters had died in the novel or show, I think it would have cheapened the whole plot.
Yeah, I agree, the dubbing does kinda suck BUT at least they choose voices that match. It could be waaaay worse π€£ I think it's still mostly because of production costs and film sets, and I think their post production is rushed too. Instead of spending time having the actors come in to do vocal retakes for the film parts where it's not clear or whatever, they just slap a dub on the whole thing. π I posted a link above in another comment here if you want to hear what XZG sounded like as Lanzhu. They used his voice in the trailer π€£
It's common in China to dub their shows for production purposes, usually because they don't want to waste too much time with quiet sets and stuff because they film in a hurry. But that's not the case for all dramas. For The Spirealm, it's probably because the actors voices don't match the characters. For example, Xia Zhiguang sounds much younger when he speaks, less authoritative, and Huang Junjie has an accent. If you want to hear what XZG sounds like voicing Lanzhu, there are some clips put together by resourceful Chinese fans, and then they used his voice in the trailer: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WyGG4S9OcFCO5NBbk4MYBpGZh3ANhVub/view?usp=sharing (if you haven't watched this video may contain SPOILERS)
Happy to share π yep, the beginning and ending lines are from the drama! Not sure if you noticed, but the show is dubbed, so the voice of Lanzhu is not Xia Zhiguang's voice, but the song is his real singing voice and the talking in the beginning and end is his voice too.
π add spoiler tag please for those who haven't watched BUT yes, he kills people in the doors, those who directly try to harm him (or his people). Nanzhu in the novel is actually +++ ruthless and has basically no remorse for door crossers. Apparently XZG (Lanzhu's actor) actually suggested changes to the series character to make him more likeable and not so cold, so the Lanzhu we get in the series is actually a nicer version. The door world is dog eat dog, kill or be killed.
i'm kinda disappointed not to see ruan lanzhu crossdressing cause u know censorship...but lmaooo every time they…
Every time he says 'Baijie like's this type of man' or 'Baijie doesn't like that' and 'You're not Baijie's type' I died laughing because man's actually talking about HIMSELF and his preferences in men π€£π€£π€£
