And people are saying the family part was their fave, it was my LEAST favourite part of this ep. The whole thing…
I don't think I can say which felt strongest, maybe I didn't pay enough attention but I feel like 1-9 were all on the same level, they were quite consistent, which was good. The last two eps have very little time to right the wrong of ep 10 🤦🏻♂️
And people are saying the family part was their fave, it was my LEAST favourite part of this ep. The whole thing…
Yup, that scene with her left standing on the stage was extra special cringe. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. Now we're just gonna have to see whether it'll be remotely salvaged or totally a goner.
Seriously could someone unlock Mordor because a ring that no one can touch including the police that someone owns…
And people are saying the family part was their fave, it was my LEAST favourite part of this ep. The whole thing felt so rushed and forced and awkward. Even the lovey dovey moments of Jack and Joker contradicted their character personalities. Much too sudden over all, needed more time to develop, it threw the entire episode off the tracks imo. I won't even mention the ring actually having powers. Like. Just no.
Ngl, for me, this episode really fell off. The whole vibe was wrong and many scenes didn't fit right and felt…
And the ring, I was expecting it to be more of a 'superstition' but it's supposed to really have some kind of power and that too, just doesn't sit well. The whole show was comedy/action/romance that wasn't taking itself seriously, now it's tryna get too heavy and for me it's just not working well.
Ngl, for me, this episode really fell off. The whole vibe was wrong and many scenes didn't fit right and felt awkward and forced AF. Major character personality contradictions too. Ep 10 just did not click.
Was it produced for other countries' broadcast right? With those whole kissing scene, it's quite impossible for…
I actually think it was fully produced in China and they tried to air it in China on iQiyi, but like The Spirealm, it got pulled within hours. Then I think the producers just said fuck it and decided, instead of leaking it, to straightup let it be broadcast internationally, even if it airs at a loss financially.
I think at some point, some frustrated creators just get to a 'got to start somewhere' sort of place. It's been so many years since the ban started and things have changed around China, there are more options now for LGBTQ in neighboring countries, they can see loopholes now, Chinese creators can see opportunities. And while actors who want to be front and center in Chinese media will follow the rules to their death, smaller actors will take risks, their careers don't end with China after all, only in China, but there are other options for them.
Also, the QUALITY speaks for itself. The acting, the plot, the direction, is so damn good. Imo, China has always held a silent crown in their productions of Censored BLs, even trumping proper BLs in other countries. Creators must be tired of being creativity stifled and oppressed, of not being able to show what they can do in this genre. This is a victory, however small, for the LGBTQ in China.
.....as it is a Chinese drama I think it will have a sad and tragic ending. I know that China is very, very homophobic…
This is not an accurate assumption, because if you're referring to the copy/pasted shitty sad or tragic endings of forced censored BLs in China, those endings are all changed specifically to adhere to the obligatory no-homo agenda of the government. Keep in mind that BL content in China is not written by the homophobic government, it is written by LGBTQ people or fans of that sort of content, they don't write sad endings in the canon material (just read the original danmei novels of some of the most famous censored BLs and you'd know that), the writers/creators of these shows are not homophobic. Best not to get it confused.
This show has bypassed China's gov no-homo bs, a fact of which many Chinese BL fans are very happy for, and made it to air uncensored, people should not be overly concerned about it having the copy/paste sad ending. Enjoy the show!
See kids, this is why 'marks' are important when filming scenes for continuity, so we don't get scenes like the one in episode 9 from 22.34 to 24.00 where the pillar behind Noh appears and disappears several times because he's NOT standing in the same place for the different takes of the scene. Marks are there to help actors and continuity. An example of a correctly used mark is at 44.52 in Perfect 10 Liners ep1, showing Force where he is supposed to sit for the scene. Of course that's not a GOOD example, since we're not actually supposed to have seen the mark on the bench😂😂😂
Just dropping a note here for Chinese BL lovers who don't know yet, Blue Canvas of Youthful Days has been re-released (after being taken down from iQiyi) on four foreign platforms in all its UNCENSORED glory, and it is FANTASTIC so far. If you're a Cn BL lover who has been waiting for the quality content we know Chinese BL creators usually deliver in censored BLs, in an uncensored show, this is the moment you've all been waiting for!!
The DEPTH and emotional tones of the conversations in this episode are just fantastic. That confrontation between Qi Lu and Qin Xiao hit every. single. note. on key and hit all the FEELS just right. Cruel indeed. Ouchouchouch but in the best possible way. And when TanYin took out his hearing aid, not wanting to hear what Liu was saying in that MOMENT, it was ouchouchouch, but so good but so ouch. I just want them all to take a deep breath, accept their feelings and listen to Sex After Cigarette's song, Nothing's Gonna' Hurt You Baby while making out. (I might just make a FMV of this BL with song when it's over to add to my collection) I am a sucker for an emotionally tense show that actually makes me feel anything.
I also loved how the Chinese subs changed between 她 and 他 and the hardcoded English subs did as well in the convo between Tan Yin and Qin Xiao on the rooftop, making it clear in BOTH languages that Qin Xiao was talking about HE. HIM. QI LU. Bro caught feels now he just has to face that fact!
AAAAAAAAAH so satisfying. And so frustrating to have to WAIT A WHOLE FUCKING WEEK.
I think I see what this is now. This is going to be like a 'a conversation about different aspects of gay sex' in a short show format. There have been shows like this before, that try to explore the facets of sex and sexuality and unconventional sexual behaviour in a series format. It's done in a bit of an amateur way here tbh, but it reminds of like, the TV series BONDiNG, for example.
I'm not feeling the production or actors at all personally though, so I doubt I'll stick around for this, if I remember it by next week I'll try ep 3, otherwise it'll probably end up on my dropped list.
Not much later...
Minase to Hirukawa: "Come stay with me, lost delinquent soul."
Me: ( ͡ಠ ͜ʖ ͡ಠ )/ ⁱˢ ᵗʰⁱˢ ˡᵒᵍⁱᶜᵃˡ?
All jokes aside, the write up does say 'the two quickly get intimate' so. No cap. heh.
Hope: "What do we do if Joke is the one who did it?" (stole the ring)
Jack: "I guess we'll kill him."
BRO SAID WHAT
I won't even mention the ring actually having powers. Like. Just no.

It's recently been re-released. Watch it officially on YT or Gaga.
