I wasn’t buying Su E Huang’s sob story for a second—and thankfully, neither was Wei Shao! Unfortunately, he made the classic mistake of not eliminating the threat when he had the chance.

She’s like a cockroach—impossible to get rid of! I just wish someone would expose the truth about her fake peony and what she did to the Wei family. If news of her so-called Empress' fate can spread, then surely the truth about her deceit can too.

Perhaps but the imugi can still learn about familial bonds, compassion, care and loyalty without falling in love. It seems like the emotions he got from the warmth of the mother, the outcome of his brother and even the developing friendship with the King and Chef Eunuch left more impact than the romance. To me, their romantic relationship feels awkward and uninteresting.

The story gets more interesting when they are investigating and fighting the evil villains. I think it would have been better if there was no or just slight romance.

Yeah, I think that YuLou lady Su EHuang got people to spread the rumor and Wei Yan then got the Bianchou servant to get his guys to pretend to spread the news but the cover up is that Bianchou spread the rumors to force Wei Yan to go to them. That way, he also help to restore the reputations of WS and MM

I really enjoyed the first two episodes—all these scenes tugging at the heartstrings. I love how Mirae and Miji are gradually rediscovering themselves and each other.

Hon-su is also an interesting character. I appreciate how his heart recognizes who’s truly been in front of him.

I think it was like reverse psychology - revealing that they were actually Bianzhou trying to spread ugly rumors will in the end dispel those rumors. You're right - WY could just say goodbye and go but he wanted to salvage the reputation of Wei Shao and Manman first.

The ending credit song was so impactful as ZH reminisced about his father and him in front of the armillary sphere (star reading sculpture).

Right now, I still want to see ZH get his revenge so I actually don't want any romance to distract him.

What I liked about Wei Yan was justified in ep 27. He proved his loyalty to the Wei family by making a difficult choice. I wonder what he asked that Bianzhou servant to do as his condition.

You're right - they changed the angle. I am glad too that the outcome was not bad at all for Manman and Wei Shao

Absolutely. Wei Yan proved his nobility and loyalty beyond doubt—those who once criticized him now have nothing left to say.

I’ve watched several of Deng Ke’s earlier dramas as well, and I completely agree—his creative vision consistently shines through. From interpreting the script to guiding the actors in bringing the story to life, his direction makes a clear impact. Having great actors certainly help, but under strong direction, their performances are even better!

Actually I liked the last episode because it highlighted many good things and like you said in your other comment, WeiYan probably has a bigger plan for the long term.
