I agree. Just because he was ruthless in Episode 1 doesn't mean he has to stay that way or else he's a simp. Clearly,…
Exactly—this is a “enemies to lovers” trope, executed so well!
What makes it work is that both Wei Shao and Manman have grown through the relationship without losing who they are at their core. They’ve challenged each other, softened in meaningful ways, and learned to trust especially after ep 30, but they’ve never compromised their fundamental values or identities.
I feel the need to defend Wei Shao a bit—some people, after seeing the episode 31 preview, are calling him a total simp who gave up everything for Manman and just follows her around like a lost puppy.
But I don’t see him that way at all. Wei Shao is a complex character. He can be cold and ruthless when the situation calls for it, yet at the same time, we've seen him show open vulnerability. We saw it in his moments with Wei Yan and his grandmother, and also his ridiculously indulgent patience with his silly mother.
His tenderness toward Manman is consistent with that emotional depth, not a sign of weakness. It speaks to the intensity and sincerity of his love.
Loving Manman doesn’t mean he lacks his own judgment. He still makes decisions based on what he believes is right. What I appreciate is that he’s grown enough to set aside his masculine pride and listen to her. That’s not being a simp—that’s maturity. In fact, it’s when they stand united that they’re at their strongest. Together, they’re a force to be reckoned with.
Manman never pleaded for Wei Shao to split his troops to save Yanzhao or Liancheng. In fact she told her nanny…
Exactly, Bi Zhi would have thought about the big picture and will consider the need to help WS and the Qiao family to defend their people because in the end he will be protecting their land and lives too.
Manman never pleaded for Wei Shao to split his troops to save Yanzhao or Liancheng. In fact she told her nanny…
I think no matter what, Maman will feel guilty even though they won. I am curious about their talk and her reaction in the next episode when he said it was not her fault.
This is one of those rare instances where I can't pick the side. I think his anger mostly comes from the fact…
Happy Drama Watching!
Just FYI - she already apologized from the get-go, and the ML in this show is not dumbed down. They are both shown to be smart and independent. After they got together, she also did not do anything she wanted and did consider him and his feelings in her actions.
She did make one decision during when they were still enemies that came back to haunt her but for that, she already apologized and managed to redeem herself.
Adding my 2cents:I don't hold any particular feelings for DaQiao, but I don't think her reasoning is bad. Morally…
Manman never pleaded for Wei Shao to split his troops to save Yanzhao or Liancheng. In fact she told her nanny that if he decided to just save Panyi, she will understand his decision.
It was his grandmother who reminded him that the Wei family must demonstrate honor and integrity—not just to uphold their promise, but to contrast the Qiao family’s past failures. She told him, “Let’s repay hatred with kindness,” and his reaction said it all. That moment, I believe, was the turning point in his decision—not purely his feelings for Manman.
I can understand Da Biao's decision but I don't like it that she kept it from Bi Zhi. He has every right to make his own choice.

I think it was really the grandmother’s words that convinced Wei Shao to go protect Yanzhou. He went to see her right after arguing with Manman.
She reminded him that the Wei family must demonstrate honor and integrity, not just to uphold their promise, but to contrast the Qiao family’s past failures. She told him, “Let’s repay hatred with kindness,” and his reaction said it all. That moment, I believe, was the turning point in his decision, and I am not convinced that he did it purely because of his feelings for Manman.
It’s also important to remember that only Da Biao truly let down both the Wei and Qiao people. She didn’t even give her husband a choice in the matter. Meanwhile, Xiao Qi carried the Qiao banner into battle—so in that sense, the Qiao family did support the alliance.
That said, I absolutely agree with you: moving forward, we need to see a more balanced dynamic between Wei Shao and Manman—one where love, support, and trust are mutual and equally shared.

That's the difference I guess - love versus trust and those two don't always come hand in hand. Da Biao seems to love Bizhi unconditionally and vice versa for Bi Zhi, yet she does not dare tell him what Manman's visit was about. Why, because she does not trust that Bizhi will stay by her side knowing that his help is needed. Is her love really unconditional or is it because she does not want her own peaceful life to be disrupted?
Regardless, as you said, we are all moving on :).
I totally agree that the story did well with having Manman feel guilty, thinking that she's selfish and at fault. And then trying to redeem herself.
Like you, I detest FLs (or MLs) that lack self-awareness and have no accountability. 🤣

No problem...feel free to rant away. To me, the ML is no simp. He will put the FL in her place if she crosses the line. At the same time, he does love her unconditionally while we don't see the same from the FL. However, I see that as them not being balanced in their positions and roles in life.
However, if you don't really care about the whys, and just want to see both sides giving it all their 100% all the time, then yeah, in this case, the FL does love with her mind before her heart.
It might change after tomorrow's episode so we just have to see....good night :)

Right, they didn't consummate their marriage because she was mourning her grandfather. They did have a pretty steamy start in ep 28 but got interrupted. I guess the true intimacy will come hopefully in tomorrow's episode or soon after that. Not sure about the ending but some comments did say that there will be a child in the end.
Manman wants Daqiao to ask her husband to risk his life to save Manman's husband's life. Are we sure Daqiao is…
You're right - it really depends on whose perspective we are looking at. Both valid but I wish Da Biao told Bi Zhi - in a way, her hiding it from him makes me less sympathetic towards her.

Yes, our discussion yesterday made me reflect on how his love for her seems truly unconditional, while her love for him is more complicated—colored by her sense of duty to her family.
That said, I’m willing to give her some grace because of the imbalance in their circumstances. He and the Wei family don’t depend on her or the Qiao family for their survival. He has the freedom to act as he wishes without needing to answer to others. In contrast, she and her family are in a more vulnerable position, dependent on him and subject to the uncertainty of his moods. We and Qiaoman know that he can be petty. It makes sense that she would hold back from him a little. I am glad that she finally admitted that she feared he might one day tire of her.
Her cousin's criticism made her question whether she was wrong for putting her husband at risk. Perhaps Wei Shao telling her that it wasn’t her fault was because he was also fighing for his own people and their people.
I suppose we’ll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

Better not in this drama - we want the leads of course, the 4 generals and Gongsun, as well as XiaoQi and Wei Yan to survive....and I grudgingly say this, Dabiao because I want BiZhi alive.
