Yes, he had a good upbringing with them, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility that he was being groomed as a tool all along.
We’ve seen it time and again where the true mastermind turns out to be the so-called “good guy.”
I’m not saying this show will follow that same path—we don’t know how it will end—but I would have preferred for ZH to be portrayed with more complexity,
Ultimately, his character could have been written in a number of ways. I just happen to have a different preference. I would have liked to see a version of ZH who’s more skeptical, more attuned to the possibility that even those closest to him might have hidden agendas. But that’s just my opinion.
Thats my thought too. First he trust the masked man then his Master then what ZLY told ZZX (not sure who is telling…
Yeah, I agree with you, especially with the character writing. I was somewhat dissatified also with the way they protrayed Zhuang Zhi Xing's outcome....I really didn't want to see ZH meet him at ZZX's mother's grave and have an amicable parting. Again, it was too neatly wrapped up... even if ZH did help him to rise up, ZH also caused the whole family to be annihilated and for him to indirectly kill his father. Before that, he even pleaded for his father's life....

Naturally, one’s childhood has a lasting impact on adulthood, but what doesn’t make sense is when someone so deeply entrenched in an environment of lies and manipulation never pauses to question the people feeding him those narratives. This is baffling to me in the case of ZH.
If he had ever questioned or even wondered about the identity of the masked man in the past, I doubt the show would have left out something so pivotal. Perhaps it’ll be revealed in a flashback later, but this show hasn’t really used flashbacks in that way.
For me, a character becoming more doubtful or less trusting as the secrets deepen would make him feel more human. Blind trust can certainly be part of the human experience, but in ZH’s case, it doesn’t quite align with the complexity his character is meant to have.

I’m taking about present ZH, not when he was a boy. Now that he’s matured and can actually think on his own, He never stopped to think who the masked person ior even pause to wonder with all the scheming, double crossing and lies, he could have been manipulated too? A normal person surrounded by snakes will probably have doubts too, let alone someone as smart as him

Exactly - I was like, man ZH, you just go along with what people say as long as you think they are on your side. But with all that scheming and double crossing, you never once wondered who the masked man is or if everyone can really be trusted???
ZZX did not kill his father. The Marquis killed himself by holding ZZX's sword and directing it at himself. He…
Yes, it was the Marquis who decided to end his own life but nevertheless, it was still by ZZX’s sword. No matter how much he wanted revenge, how could he possibly avoid feeling guilty? Especially when he warned ZH that he cannot kill his father and we know that he wanted his father to be left alone in his old age since he’s lost everything else.
Miji’s backstory is so sad, and I thought the use of the poetry and flashbacks were so well done. I wish she didn’t close her heart because of a misunderstanding but I guess that’s how the story goes. Now I wonder what Mirae’s story would be like. I hope they share a bit more about her as well.
Not an easy show to watch since half of it had lots of triggering scenes especially the bullying ones. However, SHS was great in her role as the vigilante teacher. I really wonder if she had real training because her moves were incredible. Immensely satisfying to see justice served. I am all for "an eye for an eye" in drama land.
Thank you! There's some heartbreaking moments for other characters and I am a little disappointed by the plot direction taken in the final arc, but it is still a 10 for me.
2025/5/30 1:55AM No regrets.A great drama. The ending left me so empty. It felt rushed. It's a happy ending yet…
I know what you mean. I love the ending for most of the characters but there was a feeling of the show just rushing through the way the dead was mourned.
Very nice and poetic summary of the nature of their relationship! 👍 The characters were well portrayed, believeable,…
Thank you! The acting, directing, music, and cinematography were all exceptional—they came together beautifully to bring the story to life in such a memorable way!
Maybe something like Forever and Ever, set in modern times, a continuation of the love story with a confirmed happy ending. This time for Wei Liang and Xiao Tao too 😢
The phrase that summed up the drama for me: "He’s willing to be a prisoner of mine, and I am willing to be a prisoner of his."
It beautifully encapsulates a mutual, all-consuming love—one where both characters surrender not out of duty, but from deep emotional commitment and understanding. There is no ego, no struggle for dominance—only pride in each other and unwavering support.
I truly enjoyed the journey of Wei Shao and Qiao Man. What makes their relationship so compelling is how much they’ve grown through it—yet neither ever lost their core values or sense of self. They challenged and softened each other, learned to compromise meaningfully, and most importantly, built a foundation of trust. It’s a love story that felt both earned and enduring.

Edit: I meant present day, matured and older ZH who can think for himself, not when he was young
I must like the Marquis of Pingjin too much since I don’t feel that happy for ZH 😥
