It is frustrating! If only the show used the later pair of director and scriptwriter from the beginning. We would have gotten a well-paced, exciting, not too many filler dramas.
The fake DZY and matriarch scenes were sort of meh so yeah, I too don't think they were necessary.
I guess I want our two leads to be wilful, to follow their hearts but you're right, Hanye being the crown prince and DZY the on'y survivor (supposedly), the divide is too wide. You really brought home the point when you said "can't ever see DZY calling the emperor dad!" LOL

I understand her turmoil and dilemma when faced with the choice of betraying her own family especially her Grandmother who has treated her well and her childhood best friend. Thayt guilt is a heavy burden to bear.
It was her obliviousness to Mo Bei's schemes that made her look weak. We hardly got to see her amazing martial skills except for when she was introduced so overall, the show really did this character dirty.

But now, LMX figured out Wen Shuo's real identity based on bits of details here and there, and DZY figured out that the Left Chancellor was a Northern Jin spy, starting from the fact that he recommended Mo Shuang, the Northern Jin princess for the Crown Princess selection.
I guess since we the viewers already know everything so the leaps of logic are acceptable lol...
Still LMX - please tell DZY about her brother!!! Stop being so selfish - you admitted that Hanye has done so much for DZY...BUT I get why LMX or Hanye won't reveal the truth amidst the chaos of the Jing state.
Why can't DZY and HanYe be together??? I get that the Han family did the Di family wrong but is there a saying that the younger generation should not pay for the sins of the older one????
I suppose Anning's role is to play the victim and take on the burden of everything when in the Capital..but I already see her stronger smarter side when she is back in the Northwest region. She finally found out Mo Bei's identity but unfortunately she still lost...I really hope Mo Bei does not kill Bai Zhen 🤞
Redemption for DCE - I will begrudgingly say she at least did right by everyone, including herself at the end. At least MQ did not die like some of us predicted...😆
