I haven't read the novel but to me, they are both master strategists and collaborate well together. Anle has done things that LMX had not anticipated with great outcomes and LMX had often said what Anle predicted turned out exactly as how she planned. So I think they both are equally in the game except the dialogue has LMX talking about his chess game more...

The problem is fake DZY can claim that 10 years of solitude on the Dai Mountain can easily change anyone and all she wants now is to be off tht mountain. So I don't blame people for believing that she could change. However, I hope that Han Ye and Anning will realize that she is not the person they want to protect anymore because she is now kissing up to the Empress Dowager etc.
