I get why you don't like the FL character but your comments about her are starting to get too much...you hate…
Perhaps...Like you pointed out - the execution was not successful. The interpretation of visual metaphors and intentions are subjective so we will have to agree to disagree :) but even for a character who emphasizes the lack of change, one should consider the appropriateness of the scene and what calls for it.

Styling, colors and accessories are elements that I take note of, and how they are used and when they are used are important. In my reviews of other shows, I often assessed these elements including whether there was an idol feel. I get that for WR, bright colors suit her personality. Hey, Zhu Xiao Yao's signature color red suited her beautifully but even ZSY adapted her styling depending on the situation. Same thing for Lei Chun and in the latest scenes between her and SMZ, I would have thought it odd for her to be in white. Likewise for SMZ who covered up his full red ensemble or used other colors when the occasion called for discretion. I called out the particular outdoor scenes with WXS and WR because it truly bothered me that the stylist messed up here. I felt that the director was emphasizing the cinematography and the palette had changed tones. So to me, the WR's outfit was an eyesore. When someone is on the run, they do not wear garish colors. WXS changed outfits, all appropriate for someone trying to be inconspicuous. Taking an example from another show, there was one scene where the FL and ML were hiding, and the show had the FL cover her light-colored outfit with a dark sheet so that she wouldn't be obvious. To me that's a sign that the show crew think about the details, and how different elements come together for a scene. As for make up, it's not the amount but again the usage of colors matters. Not so much for the outdoor scenes that I pointed out since I was talking more about WR's clothes and joking about the pout. In the make up and hair, you can see the subtle transformation of characters like LC and ZXY as they went through their experiences in the show. Not WR, that character remained flat line, stagnant. Also, her styling in general to me has an idol feeling which clashes against the overall drama.
I believe this is particularly true of this writer but Jin Yong wrote great female characters they are far more…
Added all to my Oldies but Goodies list! Goodness, they each had so many versions and adaptations over the past many years...It's obvious that they were very popular!
The stylist is for sure a dog lover. And. I made note to self as well not to jinx anything by calling anyone smart.
I am always open to giving actors another chance... especially when Liu Xueyi is in the picture (pun intended :D) Sometimes it could be a matter of miscasting...although for Huan Bingyan in L&R, it was her bad acting too...Glad to know that her acting has improved. "...missing more than 6 sense..." LOL
I said I was not going to rant anymore (for today) but just one more thing about our dear FL. She's the only one that gives this show an idol feel with the bright makeup and loud outfits. For example, the cinematography is good, and the landscapes are beautiful, with WXS in neutral tones and his horse by the mountains and the rivers....so lovely until my eyes spy a blob of bright almost fluorescent pink/orange. I am talking about the clothes not the pout...
We may assume WXS is alive but as far as all of the characters in the show (good and bad) are concerned it is…
True true, I guess that rule is no longer valid...hmmm, what is a clear sign that someone is truly dead...in the world of xianxia, it's usually when the body dissipates but TBW showed that is not true - haha...
They should have just left her as a BCF fangirl and matched Xiaoyao with WXS instead.
Yeah, WXS is getting too one dimensional - all about justice and it doesn't matter what he does as long as he can stand proud. As for WR,..nothing left to say...sigh...pointless...just like her character...
