It’s not about long distance though is it? WSB literally is willing to sacrifice everything for JYJ and he just…
It is really not that deep tho! Isn't it common sense for a 30 years old that your partner wouldn't want to be indebted or a burden to you forever? They keep repeating that "I left his hand for my dream"- acting like either the relationship stays or the career! As if both cannot work at the same time. It's clearly the makers forcing a breakup, following the kdrama cliche. I don't hate clichés. I dislike it when they are poorly written as this one where people can see the reason behind the separation is goofy af!
Also, if they really NEED a breakup years after being separated, maybe they should never get back together.
Still clueless why Hyeri or HIY would choose a script as silly as this one!
The second couple is literally the only saving grace of this drama. However i am damn sure if they were given more screen time, the makers would somehow end up finding ways to ruin them too.
Nah, they are seemingly moving towards a happy ending. That makes the whole separation even more ridiculous because it's cliche poor writing atp. There is no depth, it's just the last dramatics before the finale. The has-to-have-a-breakup before a Happily Ever After.
This drama suffers from a seeious case of couples shaking, crying, throwing up over non-existent problems. The 3rd couple with one night stand suffers severely from such a case. Now, to add to my great annoyance, the lead pair has also joined them. What do you mean you have to make a choice between your partner and your dream? How are a person and an aspiration two alternative options? Why do 30 years olds behave like people cannot chase their goals while being in a long distance relationship. They are not freaking teenagers!
What they are trying to do is create angst over silly issue, which does little to make the viewers feel bad for them, instead ends up making it all seem ridiculous.
All this bs about a true emperor when Mao is just far from it. All his ways have been paved by his sister, Wuyi and Jiayu. I don’t understand why they keep insisting on Mao becoming an emperor.
I really enjoyed this show and the chemistry between FL and ML was lovely. They played their roles very well and…
I think that voice is intentionally done. . She is supposed to be so overly dramatic that she comes off as fake. That was needed to make Ji Bozai distrust her at the beginning.
So ive finally completed all 29 episodes and it was nice watch but i think my favourite episodes were definitely…
That's a great aspect you have pointed out. I think we all know the reason behind this less exploration. These dramas are marketed for the female audience to fulfil their wish of a man who will be on the verge of insanity during their separation. This leads to such misogynistic exploration of the FL who had no help and lost the only person who became her home. They literally glossed over the fact that she had nightmares for 10 years of him lying in a pool of blood with a knife stab. It is briefly mentioned during one of their playful quarrels while the actress mentioned and explained it during an interview.
I think it's an unpopular opinion but this drama has one of the most realistic reasons for a break up. I mean it doesn't seem like a silly breakup or a stupid breakup just to drag the plot. Like I actually understand why the grandfather would blame the innocent FL (it is quite evil but parents do behave like that, especially the overbearing ones who like to displace their guilt of not taking care of their child by blaming somebody else.). And Anyone in Zhou Wan's place would break up like she did. That "smooth and easy-going" life that the granfather says LuXixiao is used to, is bound to generate guilt in Zhou Wan who has always felt guilty towards him for dragging him in her problems. The grandfather hits her where it hurts the most. She could not live with herself if she still remained with LuXixiao and if that resulted in him having to experience the slightest of trouble. That stab wound may not hurt him after some years but it haunts her to the point she has nightmares about it for 10 years. So, i am always confused when people blame Zhou Wan ir call it an unnecessary breakup
I’m on ep 17 and I can sense some turns in the story coming. will things turn downhill soon? how many eps will…
Spolier:
You are right. Things will go downhill and 2nd ML will be partially responsible for it. While 1-2 episodes are very very painful, things will get back to normal (will even peak) soon (in 4-5 episodes).
Kathryn explained it pretty well. So far (end of ep. 6), leads are more like supportive friends to each other.…
Yes i did tune ut and enjoyed it. However, i do think that they are more than supportive friends to each other. They are clearly in love. Thats why they can't help blushing at the thought of thst accidental kiss and are jealous whenever the other person is with someone else.
Finally finished watching it. Though the temptation to drop it was high, I finished it. That being said, having Weilong AND Jingyi in a drama and still making it so boring is a talent and the director-writer have that talent. I always tune in to Jingyi because I believe she is never wrong with her script choices. But gosh, did it prove me wrong!
The whole relationship is so vague that it felt like they are deliberately choosing not to confirm a label to drag the drama. And there was NO need to drag this auditing- shady business plotline to the point it took up hlaf the screen time. I won't say thta the drama is bad. I did understand the depth of their relationship sometimes, but mostly it was underwhelming. They are not the legendary lovers they have been promoted to be. Didn't feel much connection with their love. First Jingyi drama that i am not fully satisfied with.
I see no reason why they couldn’t give a clear HE and had to go with this messy OE after all this suffering. Overdoing it till the end. True to its title.
Also, if they really NEED a breakup years after being separated, maybe they should never get back together.

Even The Double had a slowww but very impactful romance. Is it like that?
