I like how the multiple revenges have been served in this drama. From the Emperor's "My Condolence" to Murong Yao finding his father's corspe in the same position as Suige once found his father in - it was very satisfying. That is to say, I absolutely LOVE our First Prince's characterization in this drama. He is an absolute badass prince, who disobeys imperial orders left and right, does not fear any coutiers rather goes in the royal court to bully the ministers 🤭, murders his enemies without mercy or fear of accountability, is a killing machine but also compassionate towards his own people. I have missed such badass prince/general characters in last few historical dramas. Only one who ties with him is Ling Buyi/ Zisheng from Love Like the Galaxy!
Also did i say how much I LOVE the FL! I think she was the perfect warrior. I am glad that she was never for a second reduced to damsel-in-distress, rather she was the one being the savior! It is ao beautiful how resolutely she loves the ML and protects him! They really make the ultimate power couple 🥰
I started the drama today and this doctor girl is so annoying! She knows how much the ML and FL are in love but still tries to convince the FL to go to the village with her! She almost behaves as if she were the ML! I have never seen this kind of FL’s friend who constantly tries to separate the leads!
Haha I can see that. Though I have grown to adore the 3rd lady’s love story too. Right after my ranting, there were emotional scenes that showed their deep devotion in episode 9-10. I LOVED the 4th lady’s story. Only the 5th one is remaining
As much as I like the comedy and interactions between the characters, there are hardly any interactions between the 3rd lady and her to be husband. All the planning plotting is done by their maids, friends, and mothers. Sometimes they are also plotting against each other but they rarely share the screen together in the first ten episodes, which is supposed to be focused on them. They did not have any heart to heart conversation or any deep emotional moments. Their affection feels too flat. This is very annoying.
Attempting to give this drama a chance despite the warnings in these comments was a mistake. This is such a let down. Meng ZiYi cannot act to save her life, my goodness. I remember not particularly being fond of her acting even in Blossom (the ML carried that show), but I don’t remember her being this bland, expression-less, wide-eyed damsel in distress. I have forced myself to watch 24 episodes and have absolutely no reason to believe that the FL has any feelings for the ML, contrary to her monologues. Unfortunately, the ML could do little to save this drama with spineless writing. There are actors who single-handedly holds the drama together, he does not seem to be one of them though his efforts are more visible than ZiYi's. Hence, it becomes a massive, hours-long disaster that will only be useful if you want to torture someone by making them sit through this one.

I am still confused about whether it was a misunderstanding from Shaosheng's side that Buyi is taunting her as unladylike or did he actually taunt her in disguise of praise in the 1st episode?

Feeling lots of love - is alright for me. I was fine with the romance in LOZH because the feelings between the leads had depth. Will give this one a try then
She is truly a modern era woman who doesn’t believe in gender stereotypes. Hence, she is the one to give the king flowers and make chocolate for him, something usually boyfriends do
