Okay, so no, this drama is not a masterpiece. BUT it is very emotionally satisfying and includes excellent acting (especially, LCM- brilliant brilliant acting. Hoping for his bright future.) Even Yoona's acting surprised me. I never considered her to be a good actress before but my gosh, she did improve. A lot, i would say. Above all, emotionally satisfying dramas tend to stay in memory. This is what makes this drama a gem. The hype and the ratings are absolutely justified.
That being said, I really want more. A season, perhaps would be too much. But 2-3 special episodes on their lives in the modern era would be perfect.
Give these folks a happy ending and they’ll overhype anything.
This drama broke into the top 10 highest TVN ratings long before the happy ending. Some folks are always trying to sound wiser by belittling others' taste. At the end, It just reveals your bitterness!
I saw that unfair scoring of the second round, coming from a mile away. The judges are bound to favor their own country, Still Yi Heon would stick to honesty but that envoy is full of deception. They should have gotten other people as judges.
It was going well till the wedding, after that it kinda becomes unbearable. A man, known as the FL's friend, is telling her husband that his wife will visit him at night and should wear warm clothes?! What kind of disgusting sh*t is that!
While Drake is an absolute a**hole, I want to highlight how loved Alys is. It is so good to see that the show portrays two happy homes (as her biological parents separated) and both spouses of her parents loving her immensely. I like this diversion from typical portrayal of a bad step dad or stepmom.
I don't like the vibes of the 2nd FL (perhaps because I watched Legend of Zhan Hai and the benefactor turned out to be the main antagonist). She is too bossy and acting like her mother. What is it to her if the FL dates the ML or not!
It would have been impossible had they known their ids before the amnesia trope. How and where would they have…
There can be different opinions. However, their general personalities were based on their real situations. I wanted that to be explored more. I understand what you mean but that condition has never been proved. New scientists talked about how nothing like that condition even exists in reality. So, yeah! We should be cautious!

First of all, there are many dramas with this trope, in which the the rivals fall in love. I did not say that the setting had to be the same rather what I wanted was their personalities and the tension to be retained sooner. More episodes should have been focused on this dynamic. Isn't it ridiculous that in a 38 episodes drama, only last 8 episodes show their true personalities and dynamic?! Since it a historical romance with a dash of supernatural, more exploration of their enemies-to-lovers dynamic could easily be attained. That being said, stop throwing around the word "Stockholm Syndrome." That was a proposed condition which has never been proved scientifically.
The wifely treatment that she is getting even after being a hostage...🤭 this is what we should have been shown. Prince Annan and General Li of the rival state falling in love...
All these Shamans are extremely annoying with their approach to Yeomhwa. They keep trying to humanize her when that lady is rotten to the core. She is always plotting behind their backs and every time they find it out, they either forgive her or let her off saying she is feeble. The most ridiculous thing was letting her stay in the same house as Bong Su. They indirectly made all the arrangements for this to turn into a disaster. They are as responsible for this as she is.
coming back to say, i miss our chaotic couple so much. missing over the top comedic moments between Nan Heng and…
Can you provide an honest review on the couple of this drama? MDL comments are becoming increasingly untrustworthy nowadays. I am torn between whether to watch this or not. I hate dramas where the love feels too one sided and the comments are saying that the FL distrusts and makes the ML suffer too much. When do they get together? Does the ML suffer too much?
"Honestly, I don't quite agree that 'the first frost' surpasses 'Hidden Love'. What draws me to dramas like…
Persoanlly I like Hidden Love better than The First Frost and it has more to do with the pacing and execution than the FLs' characterizations. But yeah I love seeing FLs being portrayed as strong, emotionally intelligent women who know what they want and do not hesitate to go after it. That's why I love Zhang Jingyi's dramas. She almost always plays that kind of roles.
Exactly I just don't get them at all, like girlie went to school and also stayed close with her other friends…
So true. Before watching the drama, these comments made me fear that I was going to watch one of those pathetic FLs who clings to the jerk ML despite his abusive behavior. Thank god I gave this drama a chance. The ML and FL had flaws, but they were perfect together.
The comments here which are blaming and bashing the FL are a bunch of hypocrites. I bet you'll are the same people who cannot stop praising Sang Yan (The First Frost) but you have a problem when it's the FL making an effort. She did not compromise with her education or career dreams, she was also consistent with her all other relationships, so I do not see why her wanting some kind of closer from him is such a big problem
Just because he said he dosent want her to go that does not mean he meant it, she didn't have any obession with…
I was right lmao! In your desperation, you become so defensive that you don't even give time to understand what the other person is saying. Why are you explaining her intentions to me? I never questioned her intentions. I know that she has compassionate intentions. What the problem is that, her actions are miscalculated and wrong. She goes by only caring about the intentions not the consequences of her action. She helps that dude out of compassion but does not analyze that it could lead to them having to spend nights alone. She repeatedly helps him out with the pure intentions of making up for the years of service by his grandpa, but does not consider the fact that, keeping an eye on him through that branch is borderline obsessive. As a result, her actions despite rooted in compassion, become far from it.
Just because he said he dosent want her to go that does not mean he meant it, she didn't have any obession with…
Sigh! I think, you have a habit of defending your narrative by baselessly accusing the other person of not grasping the story! And oh, I am damn sure, BJS or any other ML would be termed as a red flag for that!
