Title Gen Z
Everybody complains about the slow burn romance but that is not the main problem of this drama. It's this girl called, Meng Meng. The writer should have just named the drama MENG MENG and saved me from watching such a illogical drama. Why is a side character getting so much importance? Only the twisted brain of our writer can answer that. It was the boyfriend who was previously obsessed with that meng meng and from ep 30 onwards it's the girlfriend (Tou Tou) who is obsessed with her. At this point, they should break up, leave TCM and fight each other about spending the rest of their lives at the grave of Meng Meng 😑

What's this obsession with curing your patient that everybody (grandfather, Mother and even Tou Tou herself) is misunderstanding his intentions? What a red flag ML is this one because all this while he had feelings for Tou Tou. I cannot tolerate that girl (meng meng) anymore. Why is she getting so much importance that it is threatening the main ship of the show? Which clueless writer wrote this bs!

At epi 21, not the mom putting all the blame on Tou Tou and saying my boy is an obedient one when she knows her son is sneakily rebellious. It’s just easy to put all the blame on the orphan.

I think having little expectations for romance helps in enjoying this drama. I am actually able to enjoy the tiny bits and pieces of interactions the leads are having by looking out for each other and always supporting each other. The problem is that girl Su Meng. How long is she gonna stick with the ML?! And why with the ML? She likes FL too (she even hugged her). So, why can't she be with a girl? While I don't mind the Slowwww burn subtle romance of our leads, Meng Meng clinging to the ML is very disturbing to me.

I have never seen a more annoying FL. Everyone is collectively misunderstanding her relationship with that young coach but she does nothing to draw a line with him. What a red flag!

"love a kiddo"?! I don't think we can use modern moral compass to judge a fantasy character or fantasy romance. Also, this seems to be a gendered problem. Did you also have problem with Goblin, My Demon, Tale of the Nine Tailed, Doom at your service, Habaek, where the male leads are the "grandpas" ?

There's a big issue that you all shouldn't have missed on, the fl is using Bit Na's body where Justita isn't young…
If the FL who was 17-18 at that time and Goblin with a 40 years old face can fall in love then Da On (late 30’s) and Bit Na (early 40’s) can also fall in love. He specified that it was her judgement skills that made him fall in the first epi and later the feelings seem to deepen when she believed and stood by him besides getting angry and sad on behalf of him (which he said he liked very much and thanked her for). Physical appearance barely had anything to do with their love

Tongue kisses are VERY rare in cdramas. Only one i have ever seen is in Love and Redemption. It was mindblowing!
Oh, I didn't know about them occuring more in minis. So, imagine my shock in Love and Redemption. It happens in ep 52 after the main couple's reconciliation. Even though the tongue part is visible, the whole scene is cut short due to restrictions. However, you can find the long uncut version of the full scene. It was a full-fledged makout scene.

They are trying to convince nobody but just stating their opinions. When there are remakes or adaptions of a drama, it’s inevitable that the two would be compared along the way. No need to get so worked up over this.

Yes, i comment before watching that episode. I kinda liked that revenge. However, I would still partially blame the brother. He was perhaps the crown prince when such brutality happened with her. He should have done something. Honestly, all the men in her life let her down.

This! Thank you for pointing this out. It looked so promising in the beginning and I remember hyping it up so…
The drop of ratings for this drama is one of the most organic ones. I have followed the ratings closely and despite the 0.1 glitch and a few 1.0 ratings, drama ratings do not drop from 8.9 to 8.4 just for for those two causes. If those two were any significant causes then the ratings would have a sudden transition rather than gradually going from 8.9 to 8.4. So, the drop was due to the lazy writing. Now, I have never said that she still loved the ex. From the beginning i termed it as residual feelings. And pointed out numerous signs of it. You seem to finally get it, it's an unresolved emotion mixed of sadness and care. But the key point is "Emotion" she still has that for the ex. Hence, yeah! It would be better if they had taken 1-2 more episodes showing that she is also falling for seounghyo just like we had of him realizing he is still in love with her.

Yes, I noticed the glitch and drop too. It's just 0.1 and it happened in case of most of the dramas. The other (8.9 to 8.5) drop occurred due to the lazy writing. Also, I think you are mixing up reconciliation with feelings. She made it clear that she wouldn't go back to her ex in ep 4 (pool scene). But that does not mean she has let go of all feelings . That is further proved when she tells Moeum in ep 8 that she still loves the ex. That's how residual feelings work. While she can control her actions (going back or not) she cannot control her feelings. The 1 year that you keep mentioning means nothing since her admission in ep 8. It's also very natural considering the 4 years old relationship and how great of a guy the ex is. They made this whole ex plot very realistic while being absolute lazy about the main love story. The clowneryđŸ€Ą

Yes. That's what makes this entire sudeen transition more problematic to me. She felt like she can move on. But things "almost" went back to square one the moment she sees the ex. That's exactly how residual feelings are. It doesn't matter who rated it when. If it could fulfil the potential it showed in the beginning 6 episodes, the latter ratings would have also remained close to 8.8 (it even went up to 8.9 for a while, i forgot to mention in the previous comment.) We have seen the ratings of some good dramas of this year increasing after its end and till now remaining really close to their initial ratings.

Those were signs of residual feelings. She was still affected by him. She needed more time to completely let go and get in a new relationship. Friends to lovers is an extremely delicate trope in which gradual development is essential. Her magical transition of feelings (which is of course a result of lazy writing) makes this show ridiculous fome and many others (i remember the ratings here being 8.8 in the beginning)

This! Thank you for pointing this out. It looked so promising in the beginning and I remember hyping it up so much. It ruined all my expectations. She couldn’t let go of the residual feelings for her ex and even cried during the farewell at the airport even in ep 10 and suddenly falls for the ML in the very next ep?!? This was just a big mess of unnecessary tropes with no real plot development. The most ridiculous thing is they focused on every single trope of the world instead of the one this drama is based on: friends to lovers. I don’t see any development that establishes this trope rather it was a magical transition, almost as if she went to bed and woke up having feelings for him. This one is an example that even seasoned actors cannot save dramas with lazy writing.
