You are so right about the comparatively better chemistry between ML and second FL however based on episode 13…
Actually its based on history, although it's heavily fictionalized and romanticized here. Wikipedia should be able to tell you what you need to know lol That is, IF the screenwriters decide not to alter history.
Hey, the gifs on your profile with the action packed FL, what drama / movie are they from?
We share mostly the same qualities in a strong FL. For me, another important criteria - she mustn't die or be killed off. That's totally unacceptable for me, just like for Song of Glory, it's unforgiveable :/
I decided to drop this drama due to where the story is heading. I really enjoyed the drama during the first few…
See, all the historicals we're watching currently somehow manipulates the institution of marriage and twists the fate of the FL. I agree, watching 3 similar plots is a bit much but I'll see where this goes. Btw, another new historical just popped up today but with slightly more wuxia theme - The Moon Brightens For You. I know, the ML isn't the most appealing actor but the plot sounds refreshingly different from all these court politics. My watching list just keeps piling up :/
Could this be one of the reasons why the rating on Duboku has gone down like a stone? Because viewers are showing…
Maybe once Golden Week in China is over, the ratings will pick up again. It's not unusual for ratings to fluctuate during airing but I do agree, this is quite drastic.

I am still awaiting that one drama (at least) to redeem all those mistakes. Princess Agents and Legend of Fuyao came close, if not for the tragic end. The Legends started well but then fell apart. Love of 2 Minds and And the Winner is Love, I don't even wanna get started - the fluffy nonsense on what's supposed to be a strong FL. The Handsome Siblings had a couple of strong women, especially Nikita Mao but they turned her into a bitter lovesick character. The same goes for Bloody Romance and Sword Dynasty, "love" reduced the FLs to marshmallow. Ancient Detective and Young Blood have some kickass ladies but only reduced roles. Legend of Awakening was initially promising until they killed her off. Only Love in Between I haven't watched, but again I've heard of tragic ending. So frustrating!
I know what you mean. I haven't seen a really fabulous historical (excluding xianxia/ wuxia) for a while, especially…
You're welcome. I think once I've freed up my watching schedule, I'll go back to that as well. I'm just concerned about the final stretch and potential tragic end.

Ah, my apologies. I sent the text wrongly to you, actually I saw it in another profile :D Thanks for sharing your favourites with me though, some of them are my favs as well. I've seen most of your list and top on the wuxia category is Shen Lige from Song of Glory :)
Same. My patience with the FL is wearing really thin rn. She's like the female version of Hao Chen. There's no point debating with her, she'll win every single argument. She's super stubborn, sees only her point of view and thinks she's right while everyone else is wrong. This just gets really old and tiring. The difference between her and someone in a similar position say Wei Yingluo (Story of Yanxi Palace) is that the latter is intelligent, smart and witty within reason and logical. The former, however, is just defiant for the sake of stubbornness and possesses what she perceives as her divine right to decide what's good for others (including manipulating the truth and people around her, and still end up looking like the victim).
As wonderfully as Cheng Yi plays the devastatingly beautiful, self-sacrificing, all-around "good guy," I would…
Great idea! For me, I'd like to see him in a modern rom-com, playing the CEO of a tech start-up, driving sports cars and living it up as a flamboyant ladies' man. Doesn't get much more anti-hero than that XD
