The main issue for many viewers is the editing - the episodes were reduced from 70 to 36, resulting in an uneven and somewhat disjointed storytelling. If you can live with that (most of us just filled in the blanks along the way), then you might find some entertainment value :D

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me, Jen! Now I recall why I haven't watched it - people were saying the ending is left hanging and that a second season is coming next year. So, guess I'll wait for season 2 to appear first. I also heard that Love in Between is pretty good except for the final stretch where it ran out of budget or something. It's on hold for me atm.
Just find out MY was the lady in yellow in drama heavenly sword and dragon sabre 2019 ver
Lol you only realised? Yes, that was quite a spectacular entrance in the Beggar Sect scene. She was involved in the final showdown as well. Apparently her character is the descendant of Xiaolongnu and the rightful heir of the 9 Yin Manual.
Episode 20. Just like that, they died in a matter of minutes... They cut down 34 episodes so that we could enjoy just a few minutes of satisfaction... Could've made it a little more satisfying and longer, especially the second death....

I love Song of Glory and the FL - she's one of the strongest I've ever seen in a historical drama, whether C or K, and Li Qin is a fantastic actress. I only wished the final third of the show was done a bit differently, then I would've rated it a 10.

Hmmm........I need a moment to compose my thoughts on this lol My interpretation - it's a light version of TPoC. The plot is VERY similar but the angst level is not as high. You get annoyed but it doesn't impact you as much as this show does. I think it's the acting. I guess the answer is kinda yes, I'm liking it purely for entertainment purposes. Are you watching that as well?
Thank you for the refreshing article! It's honest, objective and l generally feel the same way. These days I'm pretty selective when it comes to K-dramas, to avoid all those pet peeves. There are certain genres and productions out there that cater to more discerning viewers in the way that the dramas are conceptualized and presented. It's time for screenwriters to evolve as well and inject a bit more realism into what they're showing us. I find no. 2 problematic, in particular, for all the reasons you mentioned. Whether it's the ML or SML, no woman should tolerate such disrespect by anyone regardless of their attributes.
Episode 18, 24:21 - Anyone else had goosebumps? That was the FIRST time in the entire show we see her finally being majestically badass (Zhao Yao, Shen Lige, Chu Qiao, Fu Yao vibes).
realllly want to love this one more but I'm finding the episodes are super repetitive. Ungh. I need a fabulous…
I know what you mean. I haven't seen a really fabulous historical (excluding xianxia/ wuxia) for a while, especially this year. Song of Glory came close for me. I haven't seen Joy of Life though, heard rave reviews about it. Have you seen Serenade of Peaceful Joy? Personally not my cup of tea but many people appreciated it as an artistic piece and if you're into slow burn and cultural exploration, you might enjoy that.
I belong to category B. Actually I don't mind pain as long as there's a happy ending. Although this is a remake…
You totally spoke my mind! That kind of FL I simply do not root for. To some extent, the FL in the other drama we're watching too. No one has tagged anything on the FL here, so I reckon most folks feel pretty much the same way.

Actually at this point in time, my definition of happy ending has nothing to do with romance. I just want to see the ML alive and triumphant at the end. Tbh, I was never really onboard with the FL (the character, not the actress).
