Great article! I love the concept and absolutely adore the strong choice of casting π I really hope this happens one day in the near future, a Japanese adaptation of one of my childhood favourites π₯°

I believe there are, or were, I should say. Older productions are filled with them. But I have to stress this depends very much on the genre and the plot.

The interesting thing is the atypical characters are well loved in China and by the Chinese themselves. This is more of an anecdotal observation rather than supported by clinical data.
Now my interest is piqued- your first draft sounds intriguing π
Congratulations on your second article, dear friend! This one is an extremely analytical yet amusing read. I couldn't agree more with your evaluation and the choice of examples are perfect for supporting your cause.
Well done and hopefully this helps to alter the mindset of the majority that little bit more π₯°
Fantastic compilation! Many thanks to the both of you for the effort put into this write-up π₯° I'm looking forward to the upcoming taiga and the currently airing asadora, as well as Kaya Kiyohara's Fight Song. The others in the list look very interesting as well π
I'm pretty sure you were a student with high grades in your school days, so it's very unlikely you become the…
Average grades would still keep us alive, luckily π Thank you! Keeping the Christmas mood these days π You should put on a santa hat too! It'll be a fusion historical lol
Whoah, Cho Na! This is like the darkest article you've ever written π₯Ί This is more ominous than even your Halloween special lol. But I love it! π Since I've only watched Ga Doo Shim, I'll take my chances with spooky Songyoung High π
The long awaited entrance in ep 3. I thought it was a pretty strong performance by Zhao Li Ying. Convincing as a psychiatrist who exudes intrigue and in total control of the situation.
Finally! After the disappointments of the first two Light On dramas, I think we've got a really good one here. First episode was riveting and I'm totally hooked! π
Thank you for your comment :D Like always, I agree with everything that you have said haha :D. A love warrior/saviour…
Yikes. I just realised a typo. It's supposed to be"lone" warriors, not "love" warriors π Kind of like the lone wolf persona kind of character. But I'm glad you got my meaning hehe.
You're absolutely right, there's a lot of versatility to play around with the script and hopefully we do get our wish to come true π
I like the idea and I think the concept would go well with K-dramas, particularly the period dramas or sageuk. The Gunman of Joseon draws many parallels in terms of the gunslinging protagonist, while Mr Sunshine had a couple of masked gunslingers as well.
The Korean Empire era would be perfect as firearms were widely available in the form of six shooters/ revolvers and rifles. They could also go the "samurai" route with swordsmen, which actually contain many similar themes to Westerns i.e. showdowns and duels, uprisings against oppressors, vengeance and justice. The idea of a lone warrior/ saviour also intrigues me, like Clint Eastwood's Pale Rider. Retired warriors carrying up arms once more to do battle is another theme, like Unforgiven. Escorting convicts for trial as the marshalls do is something that could be adapted too.
I like your choice of casting, those are some pretty convincing actors who could portray characters in this type of stories π
