wait wait what's with this new name, what's wrong with ode to shangyang? she's not a rebel princess XD
I'm equally confused. So to google for info on it, I've gotta use ode to shangyang rebel princess monarch industry... that's just a mouthful! Rebel princess does sound generic, it makes ZZY sound like Princess Leia :/
They need "artifact" level blade/sword, no doubt, there are no good smiths in Legend of Fei. The writer may have…
Good point! I was curious if it's the same in the novel, so apparently the author is a big fan of broken blades :D Yes, the Cloud Impelling Palm does look impressive and unmatched. I'm just wondering among all the villains that we've seen so far, none of them appear to be unbeatable.
So nice, you get to enjoy first! sony_t and I will just have to patiently wait ☹️
Yup, I'm prepared to go raw (probably for the more complicated dialogue I'll need to refer to my mum, she's the language expert) but will have to wait for a platform to stream it. Viki for me requires VPN and Youku needs subscription so hopefully the "other" sites will have it soon :P
Thanks ;D. I can understand the frustration of translating Chinese poetic language, even reading the English translation…
Oh I see, that's ok, I'm still excited for great articles and themes of friendship sound interesting. There were quite a number of friendship-themed dramas in 2020, I'll see if any of them makes the cut :D I wish my level of Chinese is good enough for ancient Chinese literature and poetry. Ah well, maybe one day I'll try to pick it up again lol

Yup, we have a funny saying - a Chinese who is not very Chinese but more Westernised is called a banana (yellow on the outside but white on the inside). It's meant to be amusing especially in Malaysia and Singapore. I believe Jinnyboy used it as a line of joke before too :D

That's so very true. I have huge respect for those who master the ancient literature, and an even bigger respect for those who are able to translate them and retain the essence of the content. Sadly, dramas that revolve around Chinese poetry (eg Qing Qing Zi Jin) or contain enough references (especially Xianxia) are not adequately translated even on mainstream platforms that the meaning gets lost in translation... Wow, I'm really looking forward to seeing your writing projects featured as articles soon! These topics interest me a lot (being the "banana" that I am lol).
Great article and really really useful and practical advice. It's so true that once you define the purpose of writing something, it'll shape the direction of the writing. Truly share all your sentiments. And if there's one thing I noticed that will probably never ever change, is that no matter how careful you are or how many times you proof read and check, once you hit that Submit button and re-read it, there'll always be some errors here and there lol Love it and thanks so much for sharing, Kate!
Another great addition to your wonderful series! I'm glad you're featuring Kairi of the Sky, she's one of my favourite article writers (apart from you) especially for the genre I really enjoy, C-Historicals! The other writers and their articles featured here sound interesting too, especially the one on lyrics translation by Amy! Thank you for this lovely article :)
im watching stranger series now on s2 no idea he's the main lead for sisyphus
Yup, I was caught by surprise too that JSW is cast in this action drama. I noticed a bit of similarity between his character here and Hwang Si Mok, it'll be interesting to see for sure. Same writer? I thought the screenwriter for Stranger series is Lee Soo Yeon, but I don't think she's involved in this project though...
