it's a peculiarity of MDL that sucky dramas and movies tend to have higher reviews sometimes, and then really decent ones score lower. There's really no rationale except hype and fanservice.

I gotta disagree with you on the relevancy of most of the "pros". You were being too generous again, woman.

1) I think attractive actors should be nixed off your list as a merit since being attractive is kind of a base level criteria for working in BL's.
2) The Impressive production budget was wasted because there wasn't any plot for it to frame.
3) I didn't think New was that talented an actor. In fact his newby level of skill was kind of out there on parade. And Zee didn't get to stretch his abilities like at all.
4) The LGBT messages were token and didn't actually involve the plot. So they came off as a lame PSA.
5) I disagree that there wasn't a great amount of toxicity. It had huge amounts of toxicity. Just much of it was on the subversive level, rather than violent.
6) And the music was sung well, but most of it was covers that did not measure up to the original artists' versions of their songs. The pieces of music that were original to CP were kind of Meh.

I totally agree that it wasn't that good and that it could have been a LOT better. The right script writer could have made this great. It was one of the laziest plotted shows I've ever watched. And yes, please no season 2! Fuck, spend the budget on a better script!

I am currently rewatching ITSAY and recalling why I loved it. Plot is entirely doable. Mandee just apparently doesn't think so.

For those that miss the window, I figured out yesterday that Bilibili has the subbed episodes. (I missed seeing the second episode with subtitles and was looking for somewhere it was available.)

It fucking amazing. Frankly it's got the best storyline this season.
