We don't judge every show to be bad. I myself have 4 other shows I gave feedback on this week, all of which I…
So what if we loathe the series? It's not for you to decide if I find it necessary to hate it. That's literally for each viewer to decide for themselves.
This idea that hating the show is wrong is easily dismantled by looking at the opposite sentiment. Is it wrong to love the show? If we're not allowed to experience and emotion as strong as hate for Cutie Pie, surely then we're not allowed to experience an emotion as strong as love, either. Because if one stronger emotion is wrong to feel then by logic all stronger emotions regarding the show are not okay. Liking is fine, though. Just like apparently we have your permission to dislike it.
See how absurd that looks? How about you feel any way about the show you want and you let everyone else make that same choice. Whether people feel hate for the show is up to them.
I expected to be more weirded out by The Miracle of Teddy Bear, but it's actually pretty interesting. If only…
I actually thought I would have trouble with the format being so long. And the first ep I was watching that clock going "OMG". But by the second episode I was so glued to my seat that I'm like "I'm not cooking dinner yet. Gotta finish my teddy bear soap."
Worst case scenario I had to split one of the eps into two watching periods. If the length is a struggle, you might try that.
I've seen the same people come to the comment section weekly and saying shit about this series. It doesn't seem…
We don't judge every show to be bad. I myself have 4 other shows I gave feedback on this week, all of which I enjoyed.
And our opinions are not unreasonable. Most of us have given valid, and even detailed reasons why this show is absolutely NOT IT. Some of us actually cite specific moments in plot and quote characters from specific episodes. It doesn't get much more reasoned. Just because you reject or ignore our opinions because you don't agree doesn't mean our opinions are somehow without reason.
It's a trash show. Simply put it's a bomb of toxic, poorly plotted mess that reeks of unhealthy relationship dynamics and incoherence. And no one picked on Nuea's man titties. I simply said they weren't amazing enough to save the waste of a scene in which they appeared and utterly missed it if else has even made a remark about them within the context of a larger criticism.
Also, there are plenty of us that have suggested other dramas to watch, all of which are better than Cutie Pie.
As for your bullet point list: * Cinematography is nice but a show needs to more than look good. There are plenty of things to watch with great cinematography. * Some of the OST is nice. The actual theme song is average. But again, even if the theme was the best in the whole world, plenty of BL in the world have lovely music. A show needs more than to have a decent OST. * I don't come for the make out scenes, they add nothing to the plot except distraction from the utter lack of skilled storytelling. I'm not that easy to distract. * The discussion of marriage equality in the plot is hardly either ground breaking nor did it actually present some random merit to the overall plot that somehow means we have to like it. It's not the only BL discussing LGBT concerns and it did it in a cursory way instead of going deeper into the social dynamics at play. * And Lian/Kuea's relationship is laughably bad. Oh yeah, they sure "learning about each other", as you put it. Lian decided to give up on pressuring Kuea to come clean because it was taking too long and he wanted to get laid . And Kuea just accidentally stumbled upon Lian's big secret. Such amazing learning they're doing. Hahaha!
You don't have to agree. You're entitled to love the show. But we're not going anywhere and we don't owe you or anyone else an explanation of why we watch and review a show we dislike every week. We just do. Don't worry. I promise we're going to remain and continue to post about Cutie Pie until it's over. We've been here since the first episode, many of us. No reason not to finish what we started with only 3 weeks left until it's a complete job.
First of all, when did you have time to write all of this? LMBO! I admire you! I had similar sentiments. BUT,…
LOL. I found Fish Upon the Sky when Youtube threw up this clip of Pi running all over the place until he collapsed of heat stroke. And I was immediately curious "Who the fuck does this? Why didn't he just get/stay on the bus?" I needed to know the answer.
Then I lost track of it. because I was busy being slain by the simple pleasure of Tale of a Thousand Stars.
Almost 9 months later I suddenly remembered that scene and started looking for the drama it came from. And it took me way too long to find it. WHen I did I was so annoyed that the whole "running around like a chicken with its head cut off" wasn't exclusive to that scene. It was kind of Pi's personal motto and modus operandi. But somehow he was still likable. And that was not what I expected. I wanted to smack him sometimes and I wanted to send his brother off to be house trained, but it worked. And eventually we find out he reacts this way for reasons. And then it was so accidentally brilliant that yeah...guilty pleasure. I adore Mork/Pi.

I honestly thought this review came together faster than most and I think it's because I had the freedom of knowing it was my last one for this show. And I went all out. ROFL. But yeah, that's a lot of likes. I hadn't even noticed yet.
First of all, when did you have time to write all of this? LMBO! I admire you! I had similar sentiments. BUT,…
The episode were 20 minutes and 45 seconds on average. 5 minutes of which was burned in preview of the next episode, recaps of the previous week's episode, credits and Intro. So in the end, on average, the length of actual episode content was 15 minutes an ep. Which considering that, a LOT of story got packed in.
I will utterly agree that the second instance of falling into a kiss was stupid. Also, neither agoraphobia nor xenophobia, both of which Nawee suffers from, cause nose bleeds. But sure. Dramatic effect and all. ROFL>
I would have loved longer episodes, but baring that, I wanted more episodes. Imagine what could have been done with that story if they had 14 episodes instead of 8.
I am glad you brought this up and I do agree with you on a lot of things. I saw a few comments regarding this…
Oh hell. Do not get me started on how good that show is!
When the first episode came down and there were anthro house furnishing with absolutely abysmal eye animations--Literally the stuff of cryptid nightmares--I was like "Oh, this show is gonna suck. But maybe in a way that is so bad it's cult classic bad."
But then I kept watching and shit got deep. The tropes like the obsessive girl who won't accept the boy she likes is gay" trope turned out not to be a trope. She grew and ended up having this big impact on the show and has become very likable. And what I thought was going to be a silly supernatural BL has turned into a murder mystery with fucking adult, real world struggles that gay people in Thailand actually face. With surprisingly nuanced discussions on gender exploration, child abuse, social reform, and some interestingly meta commentary on BL writing, since Nat is a BL script writer.
This show is killing me with how good it is. And I worry that poor Tofu isn't meant to remain human, despite and in fact possibly because he is so selflessly in love with Nat.
Watch this. Don't miss it. But grab tissues and cocoa for the ride. You'll need both.
Agreed but am I missing something? I have been in here almost 24/7 ( pandemic reasons + lifeless π€£ ) and I…
Yeah, because the only reason a person could possibly object to CP is if they're stuck on ZeeSaint. What the fuck ever. Some people be smokin' the bad shit.
I am glad you brought this up and I do agree with you on a lot of things. I saw a few comments regarding this…
Oh sweetie. The only reason I wasn't hating the jealous girl trope in La Cuisine is because honestly, I have never before seen a BL handle that trope by employing a character that isn't just jealous, she's criminally culpable and psychotic as hell. She's actually paid people to hurt Lukchub and that happens this weekend.
So this is the weekend of pain coming. I've got a potentially tragic ending for Tofu in the Miracle of Teddy bear. Lukchub getting beat up in La Cuisine, and whatever hell they're going to put Porsche through in KP. It's going to be rough.
Agreed but am I missing something? I have been in here almost 24/7 ( pandemic reasons + lifeless π€£ ) and I…
" it's not moral, you shouldn't like xxx " Is a misnomer.
It should be something more along the lines of "it's not moral, you shouldn't like XXX in real life and I find it uncomfortable that some people like it in fiction. But I accept that because it's fiction some people will draw a line between their approach of XXX in real life and their approach to it in fiction. And that's okay." But alas, people sometimes just say stupid shit to each other. Unfortunately.
"they come in here they shouldn't start judging other's perspectives" Agreed.
"...typical Thai crap' and that they should learn from " Americans " is sounding a bit offensive to me..." Oh Mimicat, that's more than a BIT offensive. That shit right there lives solidly in the "No you may not" neighborhood. So I got you there. I completely agree.
And I saw the roast thread from that one user and their gendered insults and ridiculous, arrogant shitposting. That is actually one of the drama moments I managed not to completely be unaware of, though it took me a while to catch it up. This MDL page is, as I referenced in a review someplace else, a zoo. We have nasty, racist, sexist and even homophobic posters coming on here and making fuss of a level I don't think I've seen anywhere else this side of Reddit and back in the day, 4chan.
When it comes to complaining about rape in one drama but tolerating it in another, it tends to turn on my critical analyst approach. Which until I see how sexual assault is handled in KinnPorsche, I am not prepared to do. I will say that it's far too early to dish on rape in a story where the rape hasn't even been presented to the audience for us to judge yet. When I talked about generally not liking drunk kisses because of consent, I also have called out drunk kissing and worse in other dramas. So I tend to try to be very even handed in my treatment of themes from show to show. So I get you. Criticizing it in one show but not in another show is something you can only do with very careful dialog on the differences in how the themes were handled between dramas and is a complex topic.
In terms of the insult "Horny girl", this one is a hard no for me for a couple of reasons. The use of the term "girl" makes it a gendered insult and fuck whoever use that one. But also the idea of horniness being wrong somehow is silly. We're all adults. Even if some of us statistically don't experience arousal in a way mainstream culture understands it to work (due to being asexual spectrum or any other reason) we all understand on at least an intellectual level that arousal is not bad. Being aroused by a character or a fictional element is not bad. (With the exception of arousal from fictional situations involving animals or children because fuck no). So this insult is just stupid and immature.
Let's completely dodge whether you're actually a horny girl or not, because it's beside the point. What isn't beside the point is "Why is a woman being horny for something somehow a bad thing?". I may fuck around and run use the tag #hornygirl just to mess with these people. Insults that insinuate there is something fundamentally wrong with a "girl" being horny is some backwards 1800's bullshit. And it's also probably a straw man setup. It uses a misdirection--the idea that a girl being horny is shameful--as the base upon which to built the structure of de-legitimization. Thus creating a language for dismissing whatever said "girl" is horny for.
Fuck'em. You like what you like. Whether it's toxic relationship elements in dramas, or characters like Vegas, or even big heroes like Porsche and little lambs characters like Porchay, who are my personal favorites. it's all good.
This idea that hating the show is wrong is easily dismantled by looking at the opposite sentiment. Is it wrong to love the show?
