They need *something* and narration would work. But I'm not picky about how they get the extra info in there. I'm just getting tired of needing people to explain stuff that happened in the book to give any context to what's happening in the drama.

Yes! Phai needs to get with Saendee or whomever they're pairing him with and we need some HEALTHY Pok/Tong time. And I'd like a Season 3 with some solid Kalae/Alice story.

I was talking with some friends earlier about possible plotlines for a season 3 and we kind of agreed that Thanu/Wayu deserved a break and they would just have a nice backstory about their grown up stuff. Maybe work toward a wedding. Mark/Kit too.

While in the forefront the Juniors would do their thing. Maybe Sab would even get a romance.

That is actually a good point. I've enjoyed weak performances from actors based on better writing alone. I'll be honest, I haven't noticed the acting being a problem because I was so wound up in the plot problems.

I'm still watching it for Diao and Kuea. Plus I started reviewing it, might as well keep on. But other than that, meh.

Yeah, you are not alone in feeling this way. And I have no idea if it gets better or when, and whether it will make up for this awful behavior now if it does. The hole just keeps getting dug deeper.

I wasn't sure in the first or second ep if this was going to be something I wanted to watch. Despite really wanting to see it, the start was rough. But I am very glad I stuck with it. It's so funny. And I'm really enjoying all the characters. They did a great job with this drama!

Junior and Kad aren't in a CP anymore. So there isn't going to be any Padbok/Sab, so far as I know. Which is sad. I think a lot of people were looking forward to them, myself included.

Okay, THAT makes a lot of sense. I wish in the show we'd have gotten some of that context. I was trying to figure out what his deal was.

I get you. And yes, calling him an Anabelle doll in and of itself wouldn't be enough. It was also Lian specifically saying "I want to marry a human..." The inference being that Kuea isn't. The Anabelle reference came right after and just added to the impact. There's also other components that as a whole paint that picture for me.

But I do get your point. When people use terms with specific and grave meanings flagrantly they lose significance.

I agree completely. And Foei usually makes me laugh. Like a lot. The pink tie he was wearing... Ha!

They are the unbearable sweet. I wonder if the fandom as a whole will develop much in the way of a ghost ship for the two of them.

I do analyze the shows I watch. Partially because that's how my mind works, partially because I write fiction myself and also because television dramas (even ones people swear aren't meant to be taken seriously) play a role in normalization within our social fabric.

I had a friend doing his PHD in Gender Communication right about the time that rape scene in Game of Thrones came out on TV. Shortly there after a male targeted alcohol ad made a rape joke as part of its campaign. And he tracked things like sales of certain kinds of media for his thesis for long periods and noted a marked increase in targeted fiction for men that was rape fantasy in the aftermath of that episode for an extended time.

So yes, there is a practical reason to look deeply at shows for the kinds of content (both good and bad) they contain within them. They help sculpt the greater whole. And BL as a genre already has a problem with romanticizing toxic behaviors.

But critiquing dramas is not everyone's thing and certainly I don't expect everyone to agree. Mileage varies, obviously.

I don't care if you disagree with everything I say. You keep telling me this like I should care. And I'm not sure why you don't get that you're wasting your efforts. I don't care what you think about anyone disliking characters from the drama, or even the whole drama. Not even a little.

I'm not negative about fiction in general, I have just given a negative review of two characters in THIS fiction. Yes, I'm American and no, I'm not a republican. Not that my political leanings or nationality have any bearing on my taste in BL's or my opinion on the characters in this one. How about this, Why don't you block me? Go on. It will make your day easier, since you seem so worked up over my posts. Or Go write something positive, if my reviews bother you so much.

Edit: Marteetaa, I do apologize for your post ending up a zone for this exchange. Juljr seems intent on hounding me because she doesn't like my opinion and it's kind of weird and creepy. So I've blocked her. For her own good. Now she can't see my reviews and she might calm down.

Okay, so let me get this straight, you want me to stop writing BL reviews and start writing political news? Hmmm... I appreciate your faith in my writing ability, but that's not my thing.

I write BL reviews. You're just in a snit because you don't like my opinion. So once more, if you don't like what I have to say Don't Read My Posts. It's really easy.

That may be how it works in the book, but that is not at all how it comes across in the drama. At least not to me and several other folks. And since I haven't read the book I'm kind of forced to work with what I have in front of me. But, that being said, I'm totally cool if you like Lian. I don't mind if anyone does. I simply myself have seen no sign that he's a decent person.

I agree that there are a lot of traditionalist ideas behind the thought process. But the delivery is everything. Lian was way. way out of line and his underhanded methods in episode 3 don't speak of Kuea's inappropriate behavior nearly like they speak on Lian's character.

Kuea isn't meant to be controlled or demeaned for his free spirit. I can only assume Lian eventually gets over himself and learns to behave better?

I was referring above to the moment where Lian says "I want to marry a human, not a doll" That is dehumanization. It doesn't matter whether Kuea is hiding his real personality or not. And I didn't assume it meant Kuea's appearance.

I get why Lian called Kuea Anabelle. And no, racing motorbikes and having a musical career does not making you mischievous. It certainly doesn't make you an evil doll that does horrible things when people's backs are turned. The only reason Kuea even has to hide those things is because of his parents' and Lian's judgemental attitudes. If Lian doesn't want a doll then perhaps he shouldn't make it impossible for Kuea to feel comfortable being himself.
