Very interesting interview with Hwang Min Hyung that has been translated by a good soul on Twitter. A few tidbits…
I think they casted Yul really well. He fits perfectly and his character became even better with time π I've seen Min Hyun before in a webdrama I think. Didn't know he was an idol until this drama :D But I guess his dance training really contributed a lot to his great fighting scenes π
What I thought was this drama's weakness at the beginning has become its biggest strength and my favourite thing…
It's actually amazing that this drama still has so many funny scenes even tho the end is approaching. Most dramas would be too serious by now. But I also could take a little more angst as well π
Haha I love it too! I suppose young master Yul is not used to being spoken at like that π
I guess no one dared to talk to genius Yul like that, but our Naksu is a hot-tempered lady π Unfortunately he couldn't handle her when they were young and now neither. It was also cute, how she called him moron and fool and he said that he will be upset if she curses at him again π Naksu/Mudeok brings out the best out of each character if they have a scene together. It made me love Yul even more π
I completely agree with you. And about GJY, a good part of actors work is the text. If the writers could give…
I've never seen a drama with GYJ before, but the little screen time she had as Naksu left an impression on me already, so I searched up scenes from her previous dramas and there's no question for me that she is indeed a good actress.
So if there's really gonna be an actress change, I'm also putting my hope into the writing, so GYJ can bring an equal amazing Naksu to life as JSM did with Naksu/Mudeok. We can learn to love GYJ as Naksu just like we did with JSM's version of her.
I'm happy that this drama still makes me so excited after part 1 is almost over π
I really love JSM as Mudeok a lot. I'm really attached to her character, because she absolutely brought her character to another level. Her acting is on point and I can't imagine anyone else playing Mudeok, so it's gonna be hard getting used to another actress, but GJY as Naksu in the first episode also left a big impression on me. I still love to rewatch the beginning scenes, because assassin Naksu was amazing and GYJ slayed it. Best fighting scenes in the whole drama. So for me GYJ does fit the Naksu role better, especially for powerful Naksu scenes. But I'm afraid if she can pull off the comedic side of Naksu/Mudeok, because for me this is crucial to her character and to her relationship/chemistry with Jang Uk.
But it makes 100% sense to me if Naksu really does return to her original body...in what way, I don't know. But I'm pretty sure the Ice Stone will be the key, because "The ice stone is not limited in shape, size or form". So the difference with Master Lee will be the use of the ice stone. Maybe her burned body doesn't need to be brought back but rather her body will be created again. And I'm also kinda curious how it would be if she gets her body back... If I imagine this drama as a book that I'm reading without actors, then I'd definitely prefer the protagonist to return to their original body.
I just hope no matter which actress is gonna return, there won't be no drama here on this site at least. Because I love to read the comments here after each episode. Pls don't ruin that for me T-T
With all the rumors flying that JSM will not be coming back for season 2, I hope it's just a PR strategy from…

Naksu had a great build up but now writers are making her dumb for the drag. Because what do you mean she saw…
Agree... also because Naksu saw little Buyeon's portrait in her room where Cho Yeon pushed her in. So she should know little Buyeon's face, because she was staring at it intensely...
lol Yul being flustered 'cause of angry Mudeok π He was adorable and the acting on point! But it also reminded me again how Jang Uk is the only one who can handle Naksu's temperament π
someone pls protect Yul from mudeok's anger π€£π€£.
That scene was hilarious π And the acting of all three of them so on point! Yul's wavering eyes were adorbs! I'm so happy that this drama didn't lose it's humorous scenes even in the last episodes :D

It's really difficult to get into Cdramas because most subs are so sh*tty even on the official channels... The subs for season 1 of this drama never improved even tho it has been years. And the translations for the second season are even worse... Really sad tho. I watched the first season and know that they have great conversations but it just doesn't come across with those translations. Started the second season today and had to stop because the translations didn't make sense at all and I just couldn't continue like that... Bet we'll never get good translations, because season 1 still bad as well T-T
There is a reason why KDramas are so popular compared to all the other east-asian countries dramas. Internationally they are easily accessible and with good to great translations. Japan seems to have no interest to get their dramas known internationally... the fan subbers do all the hard work. You have to be lucky and thankful if the japanese drama you want to watch has subs or is even accessible. For chinese dramas... 70% of the dramas I've watched had bad google translated subs... just a handful were really good translations.
I worked as a subber on viki before and still think the best subs are still from fan translations... Official translations are so half-as*ed sometimes... it's quite sad. Would love to watch more Chinese and Japanese dramas, but it's not easy...
Should I watch the second season with those really bad subs? T-T
