Just binge-watched the last episodes and I have to say, the last seven episodes were really good! So many twists, schemes and revelations—everything and everyone came together like pieces of a puzzle. I lost interest around episodes ~ 18–23, but the final stretch improved so much and truly delivered the best of the entire series. That’s no easy feat at the end of a drama!
I also have to admit… at first, I didn’t see the point of all these new character storylines in the middle of the drama and they honestly annoyed me. But now, after seeing how everything concluded, I realize just how essential those so-called "filler" episodes featuring the noble ladies were. In the end, it was the women who came together and saved the day.
And hats off to the antagonist—Zhuang Shiyang was one of the most despicable, cunning and smart villains I’ve ever seen. The way he meticulously planned everything, took preventive measures to cover his crimes and manipulated people was actually impressive. Also his act, playing the innocent, pitiful and weak victim right until his last breath... wow that's quite some determination lol At times, I think he even fooled himself into believing he was truly a victim! While I do have to say his death could've been more satisfying. I'm still glad he somewhat got what he deserved.
Both the protagonists and antagonists were equally sharp and scheming, which was pretty enjoyable. I'm actually satisfied with the ending. As a romance fan I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get much of it, but still like the amount of romance we got. The tension and chemistry between them was good enough for me :D
It's entertaining, but if you're here for romance, then I have to disappoint you. There is almost none. But the…
Mostly a revenge drama. Lots of scheming, politics and women's rights. The synopsis and genres need serious revision, so that people won't get disappointed coming with other expectations. Otherwise this drama is entertaining.
Heard good things about it. How's the pacing ya'll and at what ep does the romance really start?
It's entertaining, but if you're here for romance, then I have to disappoint you. There is almost none. But the leads are still intriguing and have great chemistry. Just lessen your expectations in this regard.
In episode 5 we find out that she knows who he is the first day she tried to kill him (she saw the half of the…
The first day she tried to kill him? When was that? That day when he nearly destroyed entire Pinghu, so at the very beginning of first ep? Because she saw his face there as well. But why does it seems like she doesn't recognize him the first time they met at the mountain?
I'm on ep. 1 and I don't get it... Doesn't Ji Tan Yin know that that guy (Yuan Zhong) who helped her get to the mountain, is the High Priest with the golden hand?
I mean how doesn't she know when she had that dragon-fly spy in his mountain and he literally held that dragon-fly in an angle where it looks directly at him?! So she obviously must know how he looks like?
I really don’t see the need to introduce new characters and dedicate entire episodes to their stories in the last quarter of this drama. The leads are compelling enough, so why shift the focus to completely new characters? As much as I love how badass our couple is as “partners in crime,” I’m really not enjoying the direction this drama is taking.
Also, the synopsis seriously needs a revision because none of that sh*t is happening 😂 I mean, can you really blame me for expecting romance when both the synopsis and genre label it as such?
The genres and synopsis should be corrected so people don’t come in with the wrong expectations.
I'm confused... am I sensing this right? Xing Mo has a thing for Ms. Ling, right? And not for Han Yi Jing? Because You Ning worded it like Xing Mo likes Yi Jing... but he seems to be into Han Jia Ling?
Ep. 8 … Their attempt at catwalking on the swimming pool was so poorly staged. You could clearly see them falling into the water on purpose. The surface looked stable enough to walk on as long as you stayed in the middle, but they deliberately stepped to the side just to fall in… making me facepalm. Well, I'll turn my brain off lol
Grandma's "redemption" arc was completely unnecessary and totally unbelievable. She mentally abused her grandson for years, yet they let her off the hook just like that? Classic Asian drama move. I get that it's a romcom, but if they wanted to redeem her, they shouldn't have made her so ruthless the entire time only to suddenly give her a heart in the last episode. Weak af writing… Docking a star for that.
Overall, it was a cute drama, but not something I'd rewatch. Decent for passing the time, with a few funny moments.
haha, because during their high school time, you see the potential angsty love triangle. but it didn’t get realised…
For me, it doesn't really have to do with the romance stuff... I guess I found that nostalgic youth/friendship/family part more interesting than what is happening now. And some of the characters start to annoy me lol
I actually shipped Fenghua and Xing Chi when they were teens… but ep. 20... They really turned him into such a twisted character. None of them had it easy, but his constant self-pity is just off-putting. The way he downplayed Fenghua’s achievement of earning her diploma was completely tasteless and so mean. The friends aren’t wrong... he has only himself to blame for who he’s become.
I really liked him... I hope he gets to turn his life around.
Ep. 19 was a really hard watch... How much more can a person endure? Poor Siyi... Did they have to kill of her brother too? Poor boy.
That "mother" of hers is topping almost all horrible CDrama moms ... Because she pushed her own son to death and even tried to put the blame on others. Shameless on a whole new level. There is no redeeming for her in this lifetime.
