one thing i don't understand is how is eun ya gonna prevent her mom ending up with her dad? she isn't her mom,…
It's been mentioned several times that it doesn't make any sense. So it's not you đ
I feel that's why a lot of people can't understand Eun Yu and feel her mission and antics in that regard are annoying. Feels like the writers needed a nuisance to further expand the dreading love battle story line.
cheongah deserves so much better in every single wayshe is the one with the least amount of screentime out of…
Preach! For a drama which main premise started with deafness, there is hardly any focus on it anymore.
This was actually one of the main reasons I started this drama. I love when dramas and movies explore the differences in people and how they overcome stuff and still live happily with each other despite living in a âdifferent worldâ.
I feel like preventing Yi Chanâs accident and exploring the world of deaf people (Cheong Ah!!) shouldâve co-existed in the plot writing of Eun Gyeolâs mission. Trying to prevent his dadâs accident while still building that bridge for Cheong Ah.
kinda annoying why won't ha eun gyeol tell the truth that he is from the future that would clear up a lot of things…
For real! I was so happy when Eun Gyeol came clean towards Yi Chan, but then took it back and said it was an excuse! That was 2 step forwards and then 10 steps backwards again -_- The writers just love to drag eveeeeerything out.
Because Yi Chan did believe him at some point, so why did Eun Gyeol take it back? Makes no sense to me at all. If he really wants to prevent his dad's accident then having his dad cooperate is the safest way! Even if Yi Chan didn't believe him 100%, he would listen to Eun Gyeol and be more cautious. So what was Eun Gyeol's thought process? Make it make sense.
I cometely agree with all your points and enjoyed reading your ideas on what else we are missing out on. What…
Eun Yu:â¨She couldâve been such a better and more explored character. Which wouldâve made her less annoying imo. Sheâs still my least favorite character and I blame the writers for missing out her potential of being more than a love interest. Yes, she has her traumatic background but is it explored so far? Not really, because sheâs being used mostly as a hindrance and a tool for causing misunderstandings and being love line of Eun Gyeol.â¨
And her whole plan with âfinding first loveâ just didnât make any sense at all which was just frustrating. Itâs like the writers just needed a nuisance to further expand the story and Eun Yu was sadly used as the scapegoat. And we already saw miles away that her father was her motherâs first love⌠sigh⌠Was it necessary to drag this out for 12 eps?!â¨
â¨Like I already mentioned they shouldâve brought Mr. Viva into her life to bring another focus on her family issues, which was the reason she time travelled in the first place!â¨â¨She could have explored her motherâs life and understand why her mother is how she is. I feel even if Se Kyeong is not a good mother, she loves her daughter. Does Eun Yu know that her mother lived as a substitute of a dead child to parents who just took advantage of her?â¨Iâm pretty sure this is the reason Se Kyeong does almost the same to Eun Yu. Iâm sure this part will be mentioned at some point, but it wonât have the depth and time it actually deserves.â¨â¨
Also we still donât know why Mr. Viva abandoned his daughter. Did he really do this for her own good? And what happened to her mother?â¨What is Mr. Vivaâs story? What happened to him that lead him to such a drastic decision?â¨â¨
And do we know if Eun Yu actually liked to play the cello? I know her mother forced her, but did she at one point lose her interest (because of her friendâs death?) or did she not have a passion for cello or music to begin with?
Was music such a big part for her too, like it was for Eun Gyeol?
And here we coming to Eun Gyeol and his love to music: While Eun Gyeol is the most explored character, I feel they sometimes forget what was one of the main catalyst to his time travel.â¨His love for music! I mean even if we get occasional band sessions, itâs still doesnât equal the amount of passion and love we got of Eun Gyeol to music we had in the first two episodes. Thatâs why I didnât like that the school concert was still used as a âlove battleâ till the end. It just made the whole music part so trivial and felt insincere.â¨
I really hope in the preview when they are writing a song, it will explore this part of the drama: Music and how it changes or even saves people!â¨
Cheong Ahâs family:⨠What happened to her mother? Why was Cheong Ah abandoned by her? Was her mother deaf as well? Why did the father leave her and bring his other family.â¨â¨
Also her brother, what was the point of having him introduced as a potential antagonist when he was just thrown out of the window afterwards?â¨I feel Cheong Ahâs family in general had much potential of being antagonists and being the hindrance to the main leads and their happiness.⨠Why did they make Eun Yu do all the annoying work of being a hindrance when they had such potential evil characters? đ
Also I couldnât say this enough. But the main premise with how this drama started is hardly a focus anymore: Deafness.â¨
Which actually was one of the main reasons I started this drama. I love when dramas and movies explore the differences in people and how they overcome stuff and still live happily with each other despite living in a âdifferent worldâ.

I still love this drama, but that's exactly the reason why I'm so disappointed with so much lost potential.
While I still enjoy this drama, I feel that it has so much missed potential of stories and character-exploring…
+++ I want to further add why lack of Cheong Ah is crucial to the story and here Iâm quoting Eun Gyeol:â¨
âI want to give back the world to your daughter. So she wonât be lonely like an isolated island anymore. So she wonât be discriminated for her difference. I want to built a bridge for her⌠at home⌠and at school too.â
I think a big premise of this show is missing alongside Cheong Ah, which is Deafness. Cheong Ah is the only person whoâs connected to this main arc, but itâs almost missing just like Cheong Ah.â¨Itâs sad we didnât get to saw a minimum of that bridge built.
While I still enjoy this drama, I feel that it has so much missed potential of stories and character-exploring which would've been so much more interesting than the never ending "love battle" which is going on for too long and the focus on not so interesting side plots or scenes.
Firstly Cheong Ah. Yes- I know, it's been mentioned every week for several times, but it's just true, okay?! Her character potential is so underused and I don't even mean the romance aspect, but did we get any good scenes or bonding with her and Eun Gyeol after he started "teaching" her? No. So don't come at me with "This is not about the parents' love story, this is about Eun Gyeol." Mother is part of Eun Gyeol's story too and it's understandable why people get frustrated with her bread crumbs screen time which is less than those of the SIDE characters.
I so loved the heartwarming scenes we got of Eun Gyeol and Cheong Ah, but after he moved into her house they barely had any bonding or other kind of deep interactions. What is all the talk about making her happy, help her in that horrible family and prevent her from crying. We don't get to see any of these plans that Eun Gyeol had.
Like even in the preview how Yi Chan mentioned: "You didn't care that she didn't come to the festival. You don't seem concerned that she's not coming to the retreat." That how I also felt when we didn't see any concern of Eun Gyeol regarding his mother's absence. I feel it would have been better if Eun Gyeol tried to match make his parents instead of trying to seduce Se Kyeong (Eun Yu) so that she doesn't chose Yi Chan. I feel this plot part could've been written so much better about how he planned to bring his parents together. Not getting Sekyeong to like him but getting his parents to like each other! That was the whole point of that parents' cupid mission, no?
Secondly, Se Kyeong's real father (Choi Hyun aka Mr. Viva). I think I've seen no one mention it, but am I the only one who loved that special and precious bond Eun Gyeol had with Mr. Viva when he was young? He taught him to play guitar and was a big guidance to Eun Gyeol and I would've loved that bond to rekindle it in the time travel to the past. But their scenes also come too short and flat, without the special bond that they had in the childhood. Eun Gyeol still doesn't know that he's his mentor who taught him music. It broke my heart when little Eun Gyeol was crying in front of that store finding out his mentor suddenly passed away. Everyone talking about Eun Yu and Eun Gyeol wanting to reveal their identities but here I am waiting that Eun Gyeol finally knows that Choi Hyun is his mentor!!! They could've built such a great story around Mr. Viva in the time travel past. Be it the new built bond with Eun Gyeol or with his grand daughter Eun Yu (cosplaying as his daughter Se Kyeung)! I think it would've gave Eun Yu a better round up character. She would've found out about her mother's past as well with the traumatic abandonment her mother lived with. Exactly the same what Eun Yu is kind of experiencing. Wouldn't have made her mother a better person, but they could've built a good side story there instead of pushing too much on one dreading focus for Eun Yu.
I feel they could've written such better stories with many characters and focus less on the love battle and the romance of the main couple. Sorry, but I still feel like the main couple's built up and romance development was so forced, that it's actually frustrating that their romance take up 60% of the drama.
I still have other missed potentials which I could write out, but I don't want this to get any longer. I'm sorry for the long comment!!!!! I know many will not read it because it's so long, but I just wanted to write my thoughts down and share them. Maybe some can resonate :)
I know people will write on my comment to stop complaining, be thankful or whatever. But this is a discussion comment section. So let people share their opinions. It won't take your opinion away, duh!
Agree. I dropped this one and looking forward to "rising with the wind" a serious drama with a lot of stars at…
Not yet. I've watched the Korean version back in the days :D Maybe I'll try the Chinese version later, bcus I'm in the mood for romance dramas right now đ Thanks for your recommendations! đ
I think if you expect a perfect drama its not going to happen? Its whether its watchable. I was looking at the…
I love your realistic insights! tbh I was kinda bored with all the architecture stuff that I didn't even question it haha đ
And yeah ... most of the time in Chinese medical dramas I don't even expect a "realistic" approach to hospital stuff.
I guess I'll come back from time to time to read the comments to decide if I will pick it up again. Hopefully I'll see a lot of comments from u! It's amusing đ
Hmm despite the positive comments, this drama didn't quite catch me yet. I found the first 4 episodes a bit boring. Guess I will wait for more episodes and start again. Maybe it's not the time yet for me đ
Weirdly I didn't like any of the Chinese romance dramas which were/are airing the last month. I think the last couple I really loved were Ye Liu Xi and Chang Dong in Parallel World. And that wasn't even a romance drama to begin with. But am I then only one who thinks Chinese romance dramas are on the low at the moment? Also Kdramas... except for a few ones. I need better dramas to watch... Nothing to look forward to atm đ
I will put this on-hold and come back later đ Elaine Zhong is beautiful btw! Never seen her before but she's gorgeous! â¤ď¸
Omgosh!!! Yi Chan and Cheong Ah are sooo cute!â¨â¤ď¸ Iâd totally watch a spin-off, special or another whole drama solely just about them.
I love Yi Chan's bright and carefree nature so much. I'm scared of the accident which will change all of their lives đ I can't even imagine how difficult it was for him to lose his hearing. He was such a social butterfly and his singing voice was so beautiful đ It's breaking my heart to think what will happen.
Do you think by the end of the drama Yi Chan will keep his hearing because Eun Gyeol managed to change the past? Or will he lose it, because unfortunately it's his fate and the time travel was just a tool for Eun Gyeol to know and understand his parents' past and suffering? Sadly I think it's the latter.
She is the 4th biller. If you are hoping the story to be driven by her Pov You will be disappointed. The other…
Well, but that's not what I meant. I don't mean the development of her story or her relationship with Yi Chan. It's just a pity there is so less of her screen-time. Not that I want some fast development in the romantic department or her story. I just want more scenes đ And not those last 5 minutes in every episode. But yeah... maybe I have to get over it and just accept that she is not the main and her relationship with Yi Chan is not main either.
What Yi Chan and Cheong ah have is a slooooow burn( I put many O's to make a point đAs for the two Euns it's…
I know, I love the sloooooow burn, but I still with for more scenes â¤ď¸ The preview for tomorrow looks good tho. Hope they don't squeeze their scenes again in a time span of 5 minutes in the last 10 minutes of the ep đ
The small bread crumbs we get from Yi Chan and Cheong Ah is frustrating and just sad now T-T Already ep 9 and another episode goes by with less than 5 minutes screen time of them. Cheong Ah in general has almost no screen-time. She feels more like a support in comparison to the other three leads.â¨Iâm putting all my hope on the remaining episodes.
I really didnât do myself a favor loving the parentsâ story so much more than the kids. But is it too much to wish for at least equal amount of screen time between both couples?â¨â¨
Main couple really rushed it in this episode. There goes my wishful thinking of a natural development between those two đ
This wasn't about a never heard before plot, or plot twists over plot twists. The purpose of the drama was to…
I didn't want to come as offensive, so I'm sorry for that. But your comment just sounded like that, so I was harsher than necessary.
I mean it's good that you liked this drama and found aspects which were special and unique to you, but for me it was just that: average.
Coming from a creative standpoint I can understand your view. But plot and characters are more important to me. Even tho I do work in a creative field myself. But maybe because that's exactly why the visuals were not as engaging to me. Because I see stuff and work like that all the time. Doesn't mean, that it's not good, but it's not special nor unique for me. In Asian drama-sphere it maybe is. But still plot and characters are not. In my opinion :)
This wasn't about a never heard before plot, or plot twists over plot twists. The purpose of the drama was to…
So given your comment, what I said was correct then. Nothing new or unique in terms of the plot.
And why do people always come with the "age card" if there is a not fully positive critic about a drama? I will never understand. Why invalidate a younger person's opinion, taste or feelings? And I'm way over teenage age fyi. Not that it's any important to my opinion of this drama.
btw I didn't watch the trailer. I knew the actors (not a fan of both tho) and just roughly about the plot and came in blind as well. So there was nothing I greatly expected beforehand. It was nice enough to pass the time.
