Ah Jin Simp's Association! Ah Jin the Weed! Ah Jin the Actual Horror! lol
This show is not for everyone. If you are the type that liked anime like Code Geass where the main lead is basically the ultimate villain, or you enjoy dark psychological shows with toxic relationships and morally gray leads, then this one is for you. if you love romance, with mentally healthy leads and healthy relationships, this is certainly not for you lol. You may burst a vein from anger at the horror that is our FL. Ah Jin played by Kim You Jung is so beautiful you think she has some hope but just like the ML, we all get to realise that this one has no hope of being normal lol. We all figure it out together too late lol.Excellent first set of episodes. Epic! brilliant acting from the cast. I adore both leads so having them act together is just pure genius. I enjoyed basically every part of this.
If her style of getting people offed was directly legally binding, she would be a serial killer!
For me the ending of both the manhwa and the kdrama are appropriate. The character is a menace and the show does an excellent job of showing the disaster her callous lack of empathy or interest in others leaves behind. She really had an antisocial personality disorder and it was realisitic. She was more likely a psychopath because she always bid her time and was able to maintain a year long relationship in such a a cold blooded but perfect way without the other person realising it. She was patient and very calculated.
I loved the role reversal here. She had a proper simp association. Ah Jin avengers rising when she needs them. Bascially at her beck and call most of them till they died.
Not sure what people are on about. I loved the ending. If there was a different ending, it would be weird. A happy ending would be ridiculous for such a villainous FL. The show was not a romance. Ah Jin as a main character is technically incapable of providing the audience anything romantic with anyone and we saw that clearly. She only loved herself.
Ah jin the cockroach!!!! The weed! the horror! my goodness. Only Jesus can save someone like Ah Jin. She is a moving disaster! I would legit watch a season 2. She is so terrible it is interesting. The whole thing was like watching a major crash -2 x speed and we loved it. Kim You Jung deserves an award for this acting. The most dynamic one she ever did. Amazing. Excellent direction and everything really. Ah Jin simp association and all lol
Kim You Jung and Kim Young Dae cooked in this one! I expected nothing less seeing them as leads. Excellent cast overall. brilliant piece. I am totally up for a rewatch in the far future.

It lacked the essence of storytelling without Realising it in the midst of excellent cinimatography.
Chinese dramas can be so blah and lacking sometimes. Not always but sometimes and this is one such instance! like 10 episodes in and still I don't know and I don't care, and I do not care enough to know and i still do not get where they are heading, cos it is taking forever to head anywhere! There was no central conflict that was strong enough from the start to keep you going. Like it is just so blaze and empty feeling you may as well not be watching anything and feel the same. The kisses are good but not enough to save the blahness of it all. There was literally one funny part (for me) and that was it lol. I thought cdramas had begun to overcome this issue of lacking something crucial but alas. The characters (FLs especially) also always have a type of non-dynamic way of being and as a result they are sort of one way, one look, one face, one emotion, one vibe way of acting. Not up for a rewatch though it is all modern and chique. I managed love ambition but that was saved by the fact that Zhao Lusi ate. She played a more dynamic character than usual. It also had a central and clear moral conflict that we had to watch the FL work through episode by episode. It reminded me of the best albeit old family kdrama Seoyoung my daughter where she lies to get married and then has to go through the process of losing it all and finding redemption. From the start we can see the trouble in the horizon and are just waiting to see it all crash. This one just had a pile of characters nobody cares about and even the FL and ML are not intriguing enough for the audience to be truly invested or really interested in their plight. It lacks in essence which kdramas tend to get right from episode 1. Dramas are never about about cinematography, wardrobe, beautiful faces but first and foremost is about the drama and essence captured through already excellent story telling. The other things then complement it. I have a whole rant for jdramas too but let's leave it here lolI wonder if I am the only one that has noticed this issue. I just had to rant at this point.

It was faithful to the original
They stayed faithful to the original script and reduced the toxicity a very little tiny bit. Not sure why the score is so low here lol. People are pretending like the old lakorns aren't worse off in severity and absolute nonsense. That all comes with it. You don't go into an actual lakorn remake and expect 2025 reasoning. They probably expected kisses but you do not go into a truly classic lakorn expecting any kisses lol. That is what then makes the story manageable and sometimes interesting cos you aren't expecting any on screen skinship just off screen all kinds of craziness that move the plot along. My only gripe is the rape parts. It is 2025 for goodness sake. We enjoy domineering and toxic MLs even in 2025...However, even if it is not the ML doing such things, rape even as a concept truly just ruins the entire story. Even if off screen, it should have been intentionally taken out in this version. That is my only gripe. Otherwise, it was pretty much just a retelling of the original. One would need to avoid ALL Thai lakorns if they can't watch this modern rendition. Was this review helpful to you?
KBS and the team have outdone themselves
Excellent. I skipped just one episode out of 106!. That is a record. Uee and Jang Woo are really excellent actors and a great match-up. All actors in this series were believable and excellent. The grandma was dignified and such an amazing actress same with the Hongju. All characters are good-looking. The antagonistic characters such as Daya, the mother-in-law, and stepmom can even be reasoned with to some extent. All characters including Daya the antagonist are really good-looking. The story writing also comes together intelligently and in a believable way. KBS and the team have really outdone themselves in this one. As long as the show is, it manages to be engaging and well-paced. ep 81 acting and many others were lit. Doran's Father is also oddly handsome and his mannerisms are memorable. Great stuff! High rewatch value. I can see myself rewatching this sometime in the future.Upon my second rewatch completed (June 2025), It also gets the award for making me cry all kinds of 'touched' tears. Bro I cried a whole lot of good tears and even grandma's dementia showed itself in a more realistic way and not at all as a touch of comedy. I got to see more clearly how exhausted everyone was with her illness and how sad the impact of dementia can get. Many times she disappeared the viewers would know she is looking for FL but the family would not which is more worrying than depicted. All the actors including the antagonistic mother and daughter in law were truly excellent.
Loved that there were no over the top characters. Chairman wsn't evil...No one was going around straight up mudering people and pretending and such you see in other makjangs. This was holistic. It was completely deserved and believable that no one suffers any dramatic karma cos they were all just mostly normal humans with (no extreme) motives. Love love love this show even a bit more than Seoyoung my daughter.

Incredible cast! Incredible acting! incredible writing!
The characters were very well written. I liked almost every character in the show. The second male lead was also incredible. The cast all did an excellent job. I did not sense bad acting in any form. The story got heavy at the end, yet, even then it was still such a great watch. Additionally, the relationship and its pacing between the ML and FL were believable. The kissing scenes were realistic, and added value to the entire show without seeming too much or too little. Additionally, the ML not being the standard ML style was an additional plus. Even more, i enjoyed his acting in The Rebel, and have had the FL on my radar lately. All in all, i enjoyed the show far more than i thought i will. Was this review helpful to you?
Well Executed! worth a future rewatch
Everything about it was well done. ML was antihero from start to finish. Romance did not bug the story down at all. Loved FL too. Every issue was brought properly to conclusion. I could really see that the show cost 20 billion. Also, the screenwriter, director, and entire cast down to the wardrobe did not waste the investment. I barely skipped anything. If i skipped it is cos i got a bit squeamish to see some things unfold. The villain was well thought out too. The female villain really was a villain. Totally worth a future rewatch. May take in all the finer details next watch. Only downside is that the morale of the story is that villainy cannot be punished by the standard justice system. It leaves normal folk somewhat hopeless as normal people do not role with Mafia boss. Plus, mafia is almost painted positively. Almost, which is not really a good thing. Nevertheless, as a work of fiction, it was excellently executed. Was this review helpful to you?
