I liked Jun Ki's story arc (his acting gigs) the best. The romance part, not so much. I would have preferred if they kept the relationships platonic. Took me more than a week to finish because of it, which should not have been the case if I enjoyed a show seamlessly.

Hello, if you could kindly do something with your manners and your comprehension skills, then that would make…
Now accusing me of possibly editing my original review. If that makes you happy, then.

You even quoted my second paragraph, when I did not even intend to use that quote in that part, because it's obviously a separate point.

Yes, the context Marx used that idea in is institutional oppression, I did not say otherwise. But I believe that the idea is applicable not only in that context, but in many others as well, including the ones I mentioned in the first paragraph. People turn to religion during their moments of confusion to find solace and temporary relief. An "opium".

It's obviously my appreciation of his original quote. You may or may not accept it just because you might think it deviates a little (to me, it does not, really.) from his context. I will not try to persuade you further, and I rest my case.

Hello, if you could kindly do something with your manners and your comprehension skills, then that would make the entire world a huge difference. I obviously wrote my points in TWO separate paragraphs, again the first one focusing on the individual, and the second one on institution. On which paragraph did I cite Marx? FIRST. So, you are wrong accusing me of misinterpreting him. "Opium of the MASSES" obviously refers to the people, not institutions. Nowhere did I say I am using that quote to argue that religion is a tool for the institutions. Again, manners please. Thank you!

First of all, he is not a reporter, but a producer. Secondly, I don't think he is not aware of all the happenings, it's just that he probably does not care until it happens to someone he personally knows. Simply put, it's the lack of empathy which is common even in the real world. Plus, how could he have not known when they were even commissioned to produce a material for the New Truth.

The woman was not the "first sinner", though. There's been a lot of cases prior to her. But yeah, there's a lot of possibilities, like the ones you mentioned. Someone in the most recent comments also made a point that the sacrifice made by the parents could have been what caused the resurrection, like they could making a parallelism with Christianity's dogma about Jesus Christ being the sacrificial lamb to redeem the world from eternal death.

Ah, this is an interesting take you made, there's like a parallelism with the Christian dogma that Jesus Christ sacrificed his life to redeem the world from eternal death.

Some people just wanna be edgy. I even saw one comment proudly announcing that they posted a review just to bash the series. I mean, this is not an airport, why are you making announcements, lol.

Lol, totally. I scrolled down the comments, and saw some people asking why the men whom the woman was having an affair with did not receive a decree, and why the baby did. Goodness, did they skip ep 3 or what.

Did we watch the same thing, guys? Because from ep 3 alone, it was made clear that sin was not the cause for receiving a decree, which was also cemented by the fact that the newborn, who had practically no chance to commit a sin, received one. At this point, we can say that it's a random event, until they decide to provide explanation in the second season, should there be one.

Sociology being my undergrad major made me appreciate this series. It discusses the purpose of religion in our our society. On the level of the individual, it exists to satiate people's search for meaning, answers questions that science still fails to address, matters that are beyond our understanding. As Karl Marx puts it, it is the "opium of the masses."

On an institutional level, it serves to ensure social control. We have laws in place, and religion reinforces them in the form of introducing the concept of morality and guilt, of heaven and eternal damnation.

I wasn't talking about the appearance of the monsters, but rather about the "naturalness" of the graphics, as in they don't look too "computer graphic-y" if that made sense. Like the monsters really blend with the setting.

Yes, in real life that would have been the logical choice. But this isn't real life. The games were about to start again, that was his only chance to end the system, else he will have to wait for another year. For fans of this genre, this kind of ending is just normal, nothing groundbreaking or disappointing, it's expected already.

I think that is something that will be revealed should there be a second season. It's possible that he's been called in for the first time after a long while, thus the sudden disappearance, and the worry of his family. Or, it could also be what they call a mother's instinct. As to the cop brother, yes, I also think he's still alive, simply because we didn't see him die.

The producers probably thought it wouldn't make any difference with the plot, and will just eat away some screen time. But yeah, in a real-world sense, some of the families would have probably filed a report already.

How I know that this is a good tv series is that the fans are respectful of other people's dissenting opinion. It means that the drama delivered a proper message, unlike other more popular, supposedly "healing dramas" out there where the fans are rabid, acting like they're the only ones entitled to air their opinion, lol. How ironic. Don't they know that Mydramalist is a forum, not a fans' club. So much toxicity.

Anyway, this series is totally more deserving of a higher rating, too bad that this was aired when Netflix was yet to be hub for kdramas.
