One maybe, but really. On my scale there has not been romance and we are on episode 28. đ
There is a little romance over 38 episodes and it is subtle - itâs in a touch, a glance, kids sharing grief and growing up to care for each other, repartee between the couple. I like that this drama has at least a little romance. It brings a different side to the ML. I tend not to like pure wuxia where there are just fight scenes and political intrigues.

Sssnoopyy, I agree with you totally. Ariel Lin is one of my favorite actresses as well and heard that people had also criticized her for not being beautiful enough. I had also read somewhere that all the male actors who paired with her went on to be famous so they all want to be paired with her.

I donât understand the complaints and the low rating either. I have watched many Cdramas in the last few months and with the exception of a few, like The Long Ballard, A Girl Like Me, most are not really this riveting. Iâm bereft when each episode ends. The twists and plots are very interesting and so are the main characters.
I also like the ML and the FL. I think they have good chemistry together though the FL does not appear much. Some people say the FL is too pouty, not beautiful enough etc, but I think she plays the rather sad, rather waif-like, rather resentful yet grateful young woman well. For a Princess who is orphaned at age 12 by the most horrific circumstances, torn from the home and country she knew, to become a maid, grows up having feelings for XFN but knows she is far beneath him to be his consort, one cannot expect her character to be carefree and happy-go-lucky. I donât know how it is in the book, but that is how I see her character in the drama. In fact, she said the first person who is kind to her is XFNâs mother but she dies shortly after and XFNâs 2nd sister bullies her. JN lives with the thought of either XFN or herself getting killed ( she explains this to the cat lady). Not every actress can pull off that waif-like look. She looks really beautiful during XFNâs coming of age ceremony so if she is not beautiful enough for some people, itâs because of her styling but itâs still much better than her styling in Truth or Dare.
I have seen some Cdramas with beautiful actresses where when one appears on screen, Iâm confused which character it is because they all look too much alike. When LGX appears on screen, I know she is JN. She is memorable. So I hope she continues as JN in season 2. Itâs always a mistake to change casts unless they are really hateful. There is a reason why this drama is #1. Itâs not just because of 1 or 2 people. It is the total package.
