His character here is wise beyond his years. Just agreeing with Dinny Don who describes it so succinctly. I’m actually a big fan of Xu Kai. I love his The Legends and Arsenal Military Academy, both with Bai Liu. I also like him here though his character here is a bit aloof and distant which is how he is in the novel.

Tan Song Yan makes all her male co stars look good. They seem to have good acting skills around her and the chemistry with her male costars are particularly good.

The main novel does not focus on this guy nor LiLi at all. They are mentioned briefly but separately in the novel but it’s the drama that spins stories about them, probably for added interest and to prolong the drama to 40 episodes. That said, I have not yet read the epilogues. Hope to do so in the next few days.

That’s a big problem when they cast similar looking actors or similar looking actresses in one drama. That’s why actors or actresses who are good looking but with uniqueness about them, like the 2 leads here, will be popular with directors/producers.

To me, he’s being portrayed as sinister, deadly, sexy and ultra intelligent which I think WXY does pretty well.

I’ve been noticing him in several dramas but this is his strongest performance and character. His styling with black and red clothes with fan is just perfect.
