I don't like Knight. He's creepy, and now that this came out, he's even more creepy. I'm surprised they didn't…
That's what they want us to believe, but I'm pretty sure it's going to turn out it's not at all what everyone thinks. Well. I sincerely hope I'm not wrong about that.
Google-translated from the Youku app: "Green Fox Song (Simplified Chinese Version)
Thousands of years ago, Yao Ling'er, a young cultivator, failed her tribulation and fell into an extremely cold land. With her life hanging by a thread, a massive fox warmed her with its own body, saving her and helping her overcome the tribulation. Years later, the Qingqiu fox demon, possessing uncontrollable destructive powers, became a demon king. Surrounded by the immortals, he suffered severe injuries. Fortunately, Yao Ling'er, now a supreme immortal and earning the title "Taotie," had become the immortal sect's foremost culinary master. Recognizing the Qingqiu fox demon hiding within the sect as the giant fox who had saved her, and realizing her cooking could neutralize the demon's destructive power, she took him in and treated him. Little did he know, Yao Ling'er was now critically ill. Having failed her tribulation, she desperately needed to prepare a Floating World Brew to save her life. However, the brew remained elusive, and she lacked the Qingqiu fox demon's innate fox fire."
i don’t understand why china should do the opposite. a series that has generated significant revenue and boosted…
The PRC values "social harmony" above all else, which is why they have censorship to begin with. There are other things that might make lots of money but are also not allowed for fear that they might cause disharmony or disrupt the (preferred) social order.
Regardless, this is just a rumour so far, and wasn't even mentioned in the first leak about the possible new NRTA guidelines.
Original article doesn't mention this, seems like a fan panic spreading/engagement farming post.
I found a reddit post referencing a weibo post, stressing that so far there seems to be no official announcement from NRTA, just this leak/rumour, and the original leak/rumour does NOT mention anything about danmei or danmei actors. I'll put the link in a reply to my comment in case mdl doesn't like hyperlinks and deletes the comment.
Finally finished - I kept up till ep16 or so, put it on hold, and now finished just for the sake of finishing…
Just a correction: it's not *China* that's producing uncensored BL, it's individuals from China who are doing it, and they still can't air them within China. They've just figured out a workaround to sell them directly to non-Chinese platforms. China still has a ban on both censored (dangai) and uncensored BL (danmei).
Someone told me it doesn't mention BL specifically, I can't read Chinese so I am really eager to know, plus does…
It does mention 耽美 dānměi, which is Chinese for BL. (Censored, bromancified BL like TU and WoH are called "dangai", which was not mentioned.) Let's just hope that this is an unfounded rumour.
As for the platforms, China has no power over platforms that aren't Chinese, like Gaga (Taiwan) and Viki (USA), so I assume it's just the international versions of WeTV, iQiyi and Youku they're referring to. But I guess it's not impossible that they could put a ban on Chinese productions selling their uncensored works to foreign platforms. And both WeTV and iQiyi have coproduced BL dramas from other countries, so I'm wondering what this would mean for them, if it's true and not a hoax.
I love every second of this fantastic series and have already begun to rewatch it from the beginning. Like many…
Something something social harmony above all else something something... Unfortunately I think the unhinged behaviours of Chinese danmei fans and netizens when it comes to BL is not helping 😢
Started watching this series. Watched the first episode (comedy is good, enjoyable so far) I get that the ML will…
If you're looking for paragons of virtue and models of positive behaviour, you'll be hard pressed to find any in this series. Everyone is messed up in one way or another. Just be aware that there's a huge character development over the course of the series, and the dark introductions to some of the characters are supposed to form the basis for that. But if you still dislike the characters by episode 5, then this series probably isn't for you.
