He was honouring a promise to WSW's mother, whom he feels closer to than his own. He had a choice between telling his lover the truth and betraying a confidence of a dying person, or to honour his promise and keep the truth from his lover. I would probably have made a different choice, but I also understand the difficult situation he was put in.
The mother, otoh... I still can't easily forgive her for doing that to her own son.

Yes, strangely this might be my favourite episode so far despite the pain, because they did it SO FREAKING WELL. The episode was perfection, the pacing, the reveals, the emotions, so many brilliantly written and acted scenes 😭❤️😭❤️😭

Agreed 100%.WSW is a hard character to play because he puts up such a front most of the time, trying to act something that he doesn't feel, or trying to be the tough, strong man, or preserving his dignity when he thinks all is lost, but Zi Yu is doing a great job with showing both sides of WSW, the "fake" side and the true, vulnerable side. I think some people are confusing Zi Yu's acting with WSW's "acting". The latter is supposed to be clunky and unconvincing, because WSW isn't necessarily very good at it, lol
TXN of course is great in his role, he captures that intensity and those dark undercurrents in CC perfectly. It's such a contrast to when we see TXN as himself in the BTS.

Considering some BL fandoms... it's not completely out of the question haha

A whole bunch of different BL series got their ratings bombed all at once a few weeks ago, most of them by 0.2–0.3 points. Just 0.1 points is not too bad in comparison. Still sucks though.
Some people think it's MDL removing a bunch of fake or bot accounts which would also remove those accounts' upvotes. Some people think it's an attack from homophobic antifans. And some people think it's a war between different BL fandoms. Take your pick, lol

Breaking a contract without the other party's consent can get extremely expensive and leave you in massive debt. It's not something you can do lightly unless you're very rich and successful

I don't think it's a remake of the anime, it's a live action adaptation of the source manga

Yeah people are wilfully disregarding problematic canon facts about one character while finding fault with everything the other character does, judging them by glaringly different standards. I've seen it done both ways, too, and it's equally baffling either way.

Yeah, that's just typical mother martyr posturing. She's just full of shit. And I say this as a person who has lost their mother. It's not something you shrug and move on from in a couple of days.

People are just simps for a pretty face, and then they feel like they have to justify why they simp over a highly problematic character so they start making up excuses. But the truth is that people (in fiction and in real life) can have a pretty face and still be problematic. It's definitely true for most of the characters in RL haha (and I'm here for it)

Yup, they are getting more and more tangled up and stuck. Tension is building up and we're definitely heading for an explosion 😭But at the same time, they really need to clear the air and get out of that swamp

I think it's just that he doesn't seem to have a page on MDL. The cast list was added early on before that came to light. And he's in the end credits of the series.

I don't either, but... they *have* to break up even though it hurts. The secrets need to come out in the open and they need to go through that process and then figure out what they are to each other with all cards on the table.

For a rookie actor he's doing incredible well. I also think that people sometimes forget that WSW still has this image of himself of a stoic, strong (straight) man who won't crumble in the face of adversity, so he sometimes acts out or tries to analyse things (wrongly haha) instead of letting himself be sensitive and honest with his feelings. The scene in the car in episode 16 was amazing, when he was telling himself that he was fine, he could handle it, while tears were running down his face. That's just WSW in a nutshell.

I don't get it either. I love both of them but both of them are also messed up and neither of them are angels. It's not a match where you have to pick sides and cheer on your team to win. I wonder if it's just that Zi Yu looks so cute that people react with their hindbrain and go "MY PURE WIDDLE BABY" lol. Because people are also defending Wang Shuo and Wang Zhen simply because they're hot, as if they need to justify their simping. News flash, people can be hot and at the same time be flawed or even terrible people 😂

I agree, it's selfish. It's fine if she needs some time to process it and figure out how to tell him, because it's a big deal. But she doesn't plan on telling him at all until she's basically dying or dead. And that is just playing the martyr. Yeah, WSW will be heartbroken to find out that she's dying, but it will help him to know that he was there for her. Having her die and knowing he wasn't there for her is going to be so much worse, just because she doesn't want to face him and let him share this with her.
