I don't think they would make the male lead a mere employer who takes care of leg work of someone else. He gotta be some sort of leader or boss. That's the vibe I'm getting from him anyways. He must be personally invested to throw himself deep into this operation of theirs. He doesn't seem too concerned about his own money and easily spends it on the female lead, so he must be financially comfortable. Maybe he's a third person who also has a interest in the company, so he thoroughly investigates this case which might overthrow his possible rivals. He was quite careful in not being seen by the company employer who followed him, so he specifically doesn't want to be recognized.
Who the heck is this fake mr. Gao, really? His team is too disorganized to be cops. I think he's in it for the money and is somehow related to Xu's company by business. Otherwise why would he be this interested in the company's internal affairs. He also has suit on in the trailer in future scenes, so its obvious he's not a broke con artist or a cop. It's so confusing. The plot summary has nothing to do with what the drama is really about.
Ahh im so irritated... they stole 2 eps from us w the excessive flashback and now also shortened the series w 2 eps?? 4 eps(or 3 after ep 9 aired) are not nearly enough to unfold all the crime mystery they introduced us to, not to mention the slow burn between the leads.. I hope they make a season 2 fast and neat like its not worth it if theyre gonna make us wait for it for years like doctor prisoner 2....T_T

have watched till ep 4 & the trailers till ep 10 and... I despise ShaoShang's mother with a passion. She treats her daughter whom she abandoned like she's one of her soldiers. I respect Shao Shang for enduring the torture and indifference of her own biological mother and continuing self-love and self-protection. I love how she's independent and strong. She has grown strong walls while growing up like a orphan. Ling Bu Yi is so handsome! I'm loving his chemistry with Shao Shang and how they compliment each other with equally strong characters. Both are the only people they need❤️
