I think c-nets and even international fans should be smarter. Some of the stuff Xu Kai got accused of in the past, and even now, could get him banned in c-ent. C-ent is famous for banning stars for the tiniest of reasons. The fact that he was never banned means none of it is true. Yet, some people still fall for these rumors. There are some people who still believe that he beat one of his ex-gfs, even though it was proven to be false and it was also proven that his ex-gf was the one who used to beat him up.

Tencent usually puts a costume drama and a modern drama together on air. So, fingers crossed.

Tencent announced today that 'Yong An Dream' will premiere on 28th Feb -- going off-topic for a bit -- I didn't know this drama existed until today when I saw the trailer on YouTube. I liked the trailer, it was funny and interesting. When I browsed the drama on MDL, I found it was adapted from one of my favorite c-novels, Chang'an's First Beauty, much to my surprise and disappointment. The novel is angsty, but the trailer indicates that the drama is a comedy. I did like the trailer on its own merit, but when you associate it with the novel it was adapted from, it was an utter disappointment.

Anyway, coming back to the topic, since they have announced a historical drama to be premiered on 28th Feb, maybe they will announce the release of ABAY soon enough, I hope so.

See what I'm trying to say?? I saw the trailer, and no way in hell did I connect it with this novel. Man, I really liked the trailer and was hoping to watch this drama, but now, I don't know.
Royal Rumours was also like this, they totally jumbled up the novel plotline and made their own version. Which was fine, and I was able to accept it, because the tone was same. Comedy. Here, they even changed the whole tone of the story.
I hope this trailer was just a smokescreen.

That he does, yup. He even recently created more trouble with his upcoming drama. Something to do with Bambi Zhu. I personally felt he was disgusting when he was tearing down on Bambi Zhu at every given opportunity.

I should have worded it as 'rumoured ex-girlfriends'. Until now, the only confirmed ex-girlfriend of Xu Kai in the industry was Zhang Nan. And they have long broken up before they became actors. The other girl from his company, I don't know if I should believe that rumour. I never believed Bai Lu and Xu Kai dated in the past. In fact, that girl has more rumoured dating scandals than Xu Kai. Yet, no one calls her a "female playboy"?

And it makes one wonder. All the fame Xu Kai has now is genuine fame with very minimum marketing, unlike those traffic stars. Gold will shine no matter how much you try to suppress it.

Ha, gotcha. I only know that he is very involved in casting for the dramas he's producing, and that he takes a lot more credit than he deserves for the dramas success.

He really should leave that company, yes. Song Weilong recently left that company and even sued them. They really are squeezing every last bit of value from Xu Kai without providing any real support to him whenever he's faced with bad rumours.

Nah, Xu Kai's agency didn't do much. They actually made it worse, if you think about it. This whole thing is partly to be blamed on Xu Kai's boss. A few months ago, he spread news about Xu Kai's many ex-girlfriends in the industry. So, obviously, people thought it might be him when these rumors spread.

Xu Kai's agency is probably the most incompetent agency ever. Song Weilong left them, I hope Xu Kai also gets free from them asap!
They do nothing whenever there is any negative news about Xu Kai. They actually add to that and make it worse, especially the boss. In fact, this situation can be partly blamed on Xu Kai's agency boss. He spread news about Xu Kai's many ex-girlfriends, and it gave the impression to c nets that Xu Kai is a playboy. And when these rumors about a certain actor getting HIV spread, it was easy to pin it on him.

Yup. But I don't mind this change since his parents aren't that important in the novel.

I think it would be inaccurate to say that this drama "mainly revolves around the female protagonist". But yeah, I want this drama asap.

I think you will find the man who is obsessed with FL more annoying than the scheming woman pining for ML. She's not that annoying either. I personally enjoyed her character.

Judging by the interview, I like what they are doing with Han Ting character in the drama.
