I was not saying ML's POV is wrong and FL's POV is right. Hell, even I was angry at FL the first time I watched this drama. On my second viewing, I understood the FL's POV.

Both are right in their own perspectives. And that's why this is one of my favorite dramas.

Well, A Ying saw Young Master Cui as her brother at that point. So yeah, she would be sad he died, let's establish this point first.
Second point, A Ying and Shiqi are very much into each other. Even though they haven't been vocal about it, it is kind of an established fact. Imagine liking someone romantically, the other person also likes you and you know it, then that person just watched as your brother fall into a possible death and did nothing to help. Would you not be angry at them?
If that person is nothing to you, maybe you would not be angry. But it's because Shiqi means something to her, that's why she is angry and disappointed. Same goes to her being angry at Shiqi for thinking so low of her to assume she played a part in setting up Shiqi's army to die at enemy's hand. She would not have been angry if she did not like him. She was angry and disappointed because the person she liked would think of her like that.

I also want to add that the ML even confined her after all this. So, I think the FL has enough reasons to stay mad at the ML.

As for being sneaky and deceiving, remember, they are not on the same side. Both will have to consider their respective armies before their feelings. But in all of that, ML still came out with his own benefits.

I think he is still in his first contract, and it is valid until 2026, 10 years since he joined the company.

As some fans have pointed out, it makes sense why Yu Zheng is trying to make it difficult for Xu Kai since his contract is close to expiring.

I hope Xu Kai can get this mess sorted out somehow. Yu Zheng is a powerful man, so he will do everything in his power to keep Xu Kai in his company or destroy him on his way out, since he only has two main cash cows at the moment: Xu Kai and Bai Lu. I'm rooting for Wang Xingyue to have a great year, so great that it assures Yu Zheng enough to let Xu Kai go.

It's not the same.
The director of this drama is known for making BL (Boys Love) drama. People are worried he would do the same with this drama.
Also, the drama team approached XK and his team saying that it is a single ML drama with multiple side male characters. The focus is on the ML. The synopsis and the title are giving more traction to the second ML. People are worried that the actor playing second ML will use XK's popularity to get popular themselves.

One can say making making BL is cool, it will give more traffic to XK, but you can see how that turned out for Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo. They've got these resentful BL fans hating on their respective dramas, always dragging them through the mud.

It is available on YouTube, Viki, and iQiyi, yes, but not in my country, unfortunately.

I was lucky enough to find a website to download the Viki version. I watched the drama back in 2020 on a pirate website, it was 480p with very bad quality. But I had no other choice back then.

Agreed. Even if the production team backtracked and go with the original script with only XK as the ML, I still think XK should refuse the drama. They broke the trust, and it is very hard to come back from this. Both for XK and his fans.

Also, all this proves that XK's team is very incompetent. He deserves a competent team. His fans should make this a point in their protest and should not back down.

Apparently the drama team approached XK, saying that it is a single ML drama.. and XK seems to have liked the script and agreed to star in it. However, rumours were floating around that it would be a dual ML drama, with XK and another actor. It became a hot discussion with XK fans not liking this arrangement, so they protested. XK's team issued clarification that it is a single ML story following XK's character only. They are not aware of why the rumours were floating around about dual MLs.
And then the MangoTV conference comes, they released a different synopsis, indicating that it is indeed a dual MLs drama.
It looks like the drama team duped XK into this drama to gain popularity. So now, even if XK ends up breaking the contract (and I'm sure he has every right to), the drama has already got enough heat with all this drama.

All of this is what I have come to understand within 10 minutes of research on X. I'm not so sure of the specifics. If there is anyone more educated on this matter, please feel free to correct me on this.

Dramas are made to be stand-alones. They are related in the novels.

Rapey SML (at least that's what author tried to make him, I personally call him a villain.. would not put the SML tag on him just because he "loves" FL) in To Be A Virtuous Wife. Actually, he does not rape. He married FL's evil half-sister and has her raped by his guards. Can't remember which part of Transmigrator vs Reincarnater was rapey..

I don't remember the chapters' numbers. Just avoid SML (he's called Prince Rui or Rui Wang) and his marriage to FL's sister.

It was not something that was mentioned in GMP drama, but it was revealed by the author/screenwriter when WOL was airing: Li Ni was indeed Li Chengyin's ancestor -- not a direct ancestor, though. The direct ancestor would be Li Xuanze, the one who succeeded Li Ni after Li Ni abdicated.

There were a few discussions about this when WOL was airing. A lot, including me, assumed Li Ni was the direct ancestor because we thought Li Ni would ultimately be the Emperor. And most of us did not like that idea, because Li Chengyin was a scumbag and doesn't deserve to be Li Ni's direct descendant.

We were really lucky, though. The author deviated from her usual style with this drama. She used to write novels with scumbag MLs, and the novels usually had BE. Here we have a green flag ML with an HE.

In TL case, it was never on iQiyi (or on any other platform) in my region, unfortunately. For 5 years I have been checking, there's nothing, and only today when I accessed the link you shared did I see the 'Coming Soon' thing on iQiyi. Hopefully it will be available in my region too. In the meanwhile, I have already downloaded the Viki version in 1080p. I will revisit the drama soon when I have time.

The thing with TL is that it's not available on any streaming platform in my country, including iQiyi. I have searched extensively for an official streaming platform to watch back in 2020, just a year after its release. It wasn't available anywhere. So, if TL was an iQiyi original drama, I don't know what's stopping it from officially streaming it in my country? They didn't sell license to any other platform, and as an original streamer, they have every right to stream it on their platform.

Didn't know AMA was an iQiyi original, lol. Missed that, and also OUATILM. I actually watched AMA on Viki, OUATILM on Netflix. So, I didn't figure they were iQiyi originals. Yeah, they were very successful. Thank you for clearing that up.

The Legends is not an iQiyi original drama. Cause if it is, it would be available in my country, and it's not. It's not even on Viki here. I had to watch a low video quality on a pirate website (that was back in 2021, I think). Thankfully, just last week, I found a website where I could download the Viki version in 1080p HD. Will need to revisit the drama again.

The only dramas I knew were iQiyi originals were DOTSE and LIKM, and I consider them not successful.

I like that Iqiyi also promotes their dramas very well. I guess my only complaint is that Xu Kai's Iqiyi dramas didn't do that well. I hope this drama breaks that curse. 😅

Trust me, if the drama followed closely to the novel, the drama would have been one of those pathbreaking dramas. But the scripwriter didn't have the guts to take the novel route and played it safe. And the result is what we have.
