But it was necessary. It was the first time I felt a break up in a Chinese novel was necessary. It helped them grow individually and get back together on equal terms.
I have seen a comment from a poster claiming that Han Ting is grooming and controlling Ji Xing in the novel. While…
Spoilers from novel, don't read further if you don't want to be spoiled.
I will break down how Han Ting and Ji Xing relationship evolved in the novel.
They first met as strangers when the bycycle accident happened. Second meeting is when Zeng Di brought Ji Xing to the dinner. Third is the blind date between Qiuzi and Lu Linjia. Han Ting then helped Ji Xing out with the sexual harrasment thing that happened at the event.
Ji Xing then starts her company, looks for investors, and she ends up contacting Xiao Yixiao too. Xiao Yixiao finds that her company is clashing with Hanhai, so he informs Han Ting about it. From there, most of the events regarding Han Ting becoming the investor, occured as in the drama.
Han Ting as an investor slowly saw potential in Ji Xing and kind of became a teacher to her in business. He teaches her, sure, but he never spoon fed her. He was just a beacon lighting the light, and Ji Xing was free to interpret his teachings in her own way and make her own decisions. So, I'm confused where the controlling or grooming comments are coming from? Are we reading the same novel?
It's the same when they got together, or when they broke up. He expressed his views on relationships and love, but he never forced them on her. It is up to her to decide to be with him or get over him. Except for the moment when she announced that she was breaking up with him, when he did not let her leave the house, there was never an instance where he seemed imposing or controlling in their relationship. Even then, the reason he did not let her leave because it was late at night. He did say to her to sleep on it. The next day, he didn't stop her.
And regarding his criticism on her dress, here's the context.
This happened after the one-night stand. Ji Xing was avoiding Han Ting like he was a plague, and Han Ting was growing frustrated about it but he let her be. Ji Xing's reasoning was that she didn't want be another Zeng Di. Han Ting had a friends with benefits relationship with Zeng Di. He also helped her out a lot with her business ventures in return. So Ji Xing says that she doesn't want be a second Zeng Di, and then she goes out to a business dinner wearing a revealing outfit to impress the people at the table. Finally, Han Ting could not stand it and had a conversation with Ji Xing. He calls her out on her hypocrisy, "You say you don't want to be like Zeng Di, yet your actions and the way you dress are matching with Zeng Di's."
In the given context, he was right. Ji Xing does not like to dress herself like that. But she did it to please her business partners and drink with them. He was not mad in jealousy acting all controlling, he was calling out on her hypocrisy. There is a stark difference between the two.
I have seen a comment from a poster claiming that Han Ting is grooming and controlling Ji Xing in the novel. While I agree that we can have different opinions, I just felt this particular view on novel Han Ting was pretty distasteful and untrue.
I will post a spoiler comment below delving deep into it, but a non-spoiler view of it is that, no, Han Ting is not grooming or controlling Ji Xing in the novel.
1. Regarding grooming, Ji Xing is not a minor that she could be groomed. She is an adult, and of sound mind, she could make her own decisions. When I saw the word 'grooming', all I could do was laugh with helplessness. ๐
2. Regarding controlling, Han Ting never forced his views or opinions on Ji Xing. He's schooled her and called her out on her hypocrisy, but he never forced his views on her. It's up to her choice whether she takes his views into consideration and make changes to her way of thinking.
There was also a comment from the poster claiming that he is even dictating her how to dress because of jealousy. Seriously? That was one incident, and you are taking his remarks out of context and painting him in a negative light. I will explain this in the spoiler comment below because it delves into spoiler territory.
Hello! The link to read the novel doesnโt work anymore, is anybody else having the same problem?
Oh, I raised a concern with the uploader about an issue where when we click on Next on ch 62, it is taking back to ch 1. I guess they were fixing that when you were browsing. Now it seems to be resolved.

It'll probably still take a little more time. According to the calendar their sweet Germany scenes should be episode…
I mean, he calls out on her hypocrisy and scolds her brutally.
In the novel, Ji Xing is avoiding him because she didn't want to be another Zeng Di. For context, HT and ZD were in a friends with benefits relationship before HT got together with JX. JX also didn't want any gossips affecting her company. I don't remember correctly how he tears her face down (it's been a while), but it was satisfying.
I'm flipping through the novel and have some questions.Han Tin in the novel is cold as ice. In the show he isn't,…
They have made a few changes to cater to the drama audience, for sure. I personally prefer the novel version of Han Ting over the drama one, but I am still loving and enjoying the drama version.
