I think only Chisu level (and up) mages can actually deal with anything divine. Yul reached Chisu so they asked him to help them most of the time. And if I'm not mistaken, It's not common to achieve Chisu.

I know why. It's not JSM's fault, that's just how the story was intended. It would be weird if a cold-blooded assassin living for revenge started actively pursuing romance after 20 years of focused training. So the romance was a tough slow burn, which is not very palatable. Sweet/puppy love is way more popular for a reason haha

I agree with you. The show has original lore in it, but they are heavily inspired by both eastern and western mythology, so we can make some assumptions here and there.
The DNA part though is proven to be relevant in Jinyowon. Only Seolran's direct descendants can open that Jinyowon cave, so I assume JSR may have cast binding spells with her own blood when she created the artifacts. That would also explain her premature death.
