this might be an unpopular opinion but it makes sense why seo ye ji dropped this drama. when u are an actor, singer, influencer, etc, in Korea, you are not just figure, you are now in the position of being someone looked up to from the population. thats one of the main points in being a public figure, where people look up to u.
regarding the issue, idk. im neutral. we really dont know the behind the scenes so i cannot make a judgement on this.
People like you are missing the point: This is CENSORSHIP.If a work claims to be accurate rendering of history…
I do know that Korean culture is toxic, i'm a fan of kpop, ik a lot about korean culture, but i don't think its necessarily smart to associate a historical scandal with someones suicide. Its two completely different issues with two completely different causations. In regards to this topic, a good amount of the population in Korea and 200k+ signs, indicates that there is definitely something wrong. Politics, history, this event that could be apart of many elder koreans lives, brings in controversy. Censorship is not right but honestly, in korea, its not surprising, the country in itself is still quite conservative.
200k+ signatures, lots and lots of criticism and angst in Korea.
As an international fan who is not offended with the historical controversy, i have no say in this. The only think i do believe is the freedom of speech, people can shit on it as much as they want after the show airs. i think censoring the right of a show expressing a belief or idea, from airing, is not the right way to go, but as i have said, i obviously don't know how hurt they are so i don't have much opinions on this. I respect whatever decision is to be made.

i have no say in what should be done or not, i do believe in freedom of speech, but again, i don't know the history behind this scandal or how effective it was, so i i'm just respectful for the ones who are hurt.
Coming back here after a long time since True Beauty ended, i laugh. I honestly find it so stupid that we made such a big deal out of two, equally as good, guys. I'm guilty for it as well.
It was fun though, coming on here daily and having discussion + arguments ;) I'll definitely miss the little community! My writing skills have improved!
I clicked on this post thinking it was just some petty netizens raging about stupid shit again - nope i was wrong. It's actually understandable, i'm an international fan so i might not be offended, but i can see why Koreans are.
Honestly, this drama is so makjang and badly-written but addictive at the same time. Like a Skycastle cheap rip-off…
i wouldent call her ungrateful. she has made a lot of mistakes but its not ultimately her fault for started all the mess. It was her moms duty to educate her about these evil high people. why, in the first place, would u expect a 15 year old girl to be smart about social class problems?
you cannot expect so much from a young adolescent girl, all she wanted to do was sing. parents and there kids having a bad relationship is nothing new, thats what caused the problem, improper teaching and relationship between Oh Yoon Hee and Bae Rona. Oh Yoon Hee was a not the best mom, which initially made Bae Ro Na, as she grew up, get detached from her. She would not tell her mother anything, would not open up about her emotions, would not look at the mom as a role model. the only thing she loved, connected, and felt better with was music.
so when her mom was unsupportive of her decision to pursue arts, Ro Na felt hurt. u expect ur parents to actually, well, be parents. feeding and sheltering is the very least. when u actually be honest, educate, and make a good relationship with ur kid, thats when u can be called a good parent.
So yeah i do like Bae Rona. From the household she was growing up in, it made sense why she is like this. She is naive but she has morals and learns/grows from her actions unlike the rest of people.
Plot is so messy and has so many unrealistic factors but only Penthouse can pull it off. I have never been so committed to a show like this one for such a long time. From the fantastic cast, to the savage writing, and the tacky households, everything swirls together perfectly!

As much as YOU believe that snowdrop will be great, that person CAN believe that snowdrop will be a disaster.
Stop invalidating any form of freedom of speech, its a show, not a person. It can be hated.

Definitely one of the best kdramas of all time
