my comments are full of hatred as intended then . because I hate his character and the amount of abuse every episode. glad that translated well then.
naturally as I'm commenting right after I watched an episode I will keep mentionning how much I dislike the abuse scenes as long as they are present in the episode.
you are free to ignore my comments if they are so triggering to your sensibilities. they were even spoiler tagged.
and yes this story is much more than romance. I like all the intrigue as well but the scenes with XL are supposed to be romantic as he is a romantic interest and it's working since his character has some people hoping they change the ending from what I see so let's not pretend here.

wait what? people actually saying that??? that's actually something to praise in this drama. the way they aren't glamorizing torture scenes and having FL wearing makeup . FL is doing a great job here actually acting like a 'man' . ofc the actress is very pretty and it's never 100% believable in cdramas when a woman tries to disguise as a man. but i'd say here the mannerism, the energy and the non assuming attitude of the FL makes it one of the more successful attempts.

I do skip most of it actually . but some I hv to watch to follow the story. which I like.

They are just characters in a drama. i can talk about hating and loving whomever and however much I like thank you very much. bringing up words like insecurity just shows how much you are projecting cuz you are prolly in a stanning mindset lmaoo. it's not like I'm paid if jing appears more lmao.
I am just here for the romance and appreciate non abusive scenes so I comment just that .

I only seen stans defending characters in cdramaland it's pathetic. people not liking a character has no reflection on the actor. it's called acting .

I cringe at lot of the XL stuff. a cpr "kiss" after deliberately drowning her ain't romantic. no matter how much they keep trying to gloss over it. hope the focus shifts from him soon.i just can't stomach him and his 2000's ML energy. Even xian is more tolerable for me. at least he didn't realize she is a woman when he abused her. not that it makes him good. but still..
just give me more Jing. the way he was at that chess game was so cute.

I agree 100% with this. it's always so refreshing to see with costume dramas.
I get so annoyed with the eyeliners and orange eyeshadow and lipstick even when leads are grtting tortured or on the verge of death. not every scene should be a glamour shot.

it's getting better each episode. every character is interesting and complex so far even the daughter in law lmao. and FL is super smart. always has a trick up her sleeve. the writers are doing a good job with her character . i hope they don't succomb to temptation and dumb her down 😭
it could well become my favorite costume drama of 2023. for now it's still destined. but it's itching closer.
and I am falling for jing even more. hoping for more screentime for him in the next episodes.

I am one of those who hated ashes of love and hated the FL's role in it so I was skeptical of this one . but so far love her here . and I think my ship is safe from the comments 🙏
