Just here to say if you're sensitive to violence, be warned. This is VERY violent.
The rating info here on MDL is doing a much better job than Disney. Disney has really kinda dropped the ball with rating in my region. MA15+ with warnings of flashing lights and patterns for photosensitive viewers...no violence warnings AT ALL.
I've had to pause and take a break multiple times in ep 1. The show is definitely good, but I'm not sure I'm going to manage viewing all of it.
I think concubines are only for the king and crown prince. The minister's other women are called mistresses.
Thanks, yes, I did see all of that. I still think 'concubine' is a more accurate translation than 'mistress'. Besides, Ha Na is from a noble family and the same translation is used for her. Mistress isn't really a term that was used then (unless you're translating it into the traditional usage of 'mistress', as an honorific. Hence my point about it being a modern translation and not really accurate. The modern idea of 'mistress' is not at all the same as 'concubine'. I was really looking for confirmation that I was hearing correctly and that the character said "Cheob". (Not jeongbu) Sorry I know this is pedantic but I seem to be on a subs rant today *sigh*
Rowoon always be paired up with a girl who has average height, it kinda awkward tbvh, i mean theres alot of kactress…
I think you have to factor in that audiences find it easier to see themselves in the 'average height' heroine. Her 'average' stature makes her more appealing , especially to Rowoon stans - they can visualise it! Women of 170cm and above are still uncommon in SK, even if you can name a bunch of tall female actors.

Nobles could definitely take concubines. But regardless, this is a modern translation, and Mistress suggests adultery, and the woman being more of a secret, whereas Concubine suggests the woman is recognised/acknowledged in a kind of (but not quite exactly) lesser marriage.
Seems today is my day to tant and rant about subs. Was there really any need to translate "Ice Box" to "Cooler Box", and effectively change the title of episode 3? Seriously, if you were going to change it, at least go for something COOL like "Esky" or "Chilly Bin"! Oh, and whilst I am at it. STOP changing the emergency number to 911! Any child knows that number is only for the USA. Show some respect to your US viewers (that they're smart enough to not need that translated) and acknowledge everyone else in the world, whilst you're at it... I'll calm down now.
To Korean speakers...In ep 3 and 4, I'm hearing "Cheob", which translates as "Concubine", rather than "Mistress", as the Viki subs state. Is that right? Just wanted a clarification as Concubine is a VERY different thing to Mistress!
Maybe not if you loathe motorsport that much because this is about their shared love of car racing and how it…
Thankyou! I've watched the first 2 eps and was hoping it might be more engineering than racing...I'll check back when it's nearly finished because 'healing' might trump cars.
I LOVE Alice Ke, but motorsport is just so not for me...Reading the comments it's positive, but is this watchable/worth it for someone who Loathes car racing?!
I think the synopsis, and the teasers leading up to the airing of this drama, have done it a disservice. it came across a bit air-headed, but contains far more pathos than comedy at this stage (ep4)
I just watched the first episode and have to ask this question, are Korean parents legally allowed to beat their…
Honestly I viewed it as all of the watchers, somewhat being victims. This stuff happens. In front of others. All the time. I can't speak for Korean culture, but Domestic/family vilence is an epidemic where I live (Australia) People are afraid to intervene. it takes courage to do so. And when people do muster their courage and intervene, it hits the media for being so courageous/selfless (but really, just unusual) And yes I think this makes it all the more horrifying.
NOOOOOO I just finished EP4 and I really thought I finally found a drama with a beautiful PLATONIC male-female…
I SO agree! I am always waiting for that too! (IMO "Doona" would've been SO MUCH better if it were a 'found family' drama, and the two main leads had just been friends) But back to tge point...total spoiler but he does back off and it ends with them as clear, un-burdened, sibling-like, friends.
