She sounds like a bummer though. Cdrama PDs needs to leave characters like Ning behind (granted it was shot three years ago) and she is ML love interest. In STOTD the same actor's character was paired with an annoying fangirl as well. But what killed it for me was the addition of an absolutely useless SFL way later in the show and paired with the older male lead. At this point I had to drop. I am a person that believe a good and interesting drama with an interesting setting can be totally ruined by a bug when said bug is the love interest since at the end of day after the plot and writting, the main leads persona and chemistry are the biggest selling points and the main draw. If Ning was an unsignificant supporting role I would have stuck with it. But she is the FL. Oh bummer !

Zhao Jin Mai, is probably the only young actress among her generation and the 95's one, that can sell me a character like Yin Guo who reminds me of those dreamy girl-next-door beauties love interests I used to watch in those 80's/90's coming-of-age hollywood movies when I was a kid and I could understand why the ML would have only eyes for her and nobody else : something majority of cdramas lately have been failing majestically imo. I especially found her physically appealing in Reset and AASOL (a fairy that matches a God-handsome Wu Lei). And I have a strong feeling she gonna be even more radiant and beautiful in "The Grand princess" where her nice body proportions will be highlighted. So far, even in dramas where she has bad hairstyles and styling she is not overshadowed. I think her big soulful eyes are the ones doing the magic. I think as Yin Guo she worked for me.

I am team Zhang Zhe (forza) and I found his rigid, stoic, pure boy but too-law-driven character appealing 😁. We need more rigid China Gregory Peck oops I mean Zhang Zhe ! 😝 That also proves Wang Xing Yue acting skills and ability to morph into different type of characters and to work in different eras.
