Well good for her if China keeps on pushing mediocrity at the front. They got a lot of ressources and time to waste. And yeah that drama here for example is a fail now and she plays a part in it. I am not the one crying and I am not in the embarrassing shoes of Iqiyi that wants to get rid of it as quick as possible nor in the producer's that tries hard and defend his work since the quality of the show and the actress' acting can't do the job 🤷♂️.
I am scared for this production next drama. It might end up being the hot thing of the year the way Can Lang Jue was or even better (this is all I wish). But I am concerned after seeing this one, seeing the PD behaviour this year and seeing how can't-act-Gong Jun got the lead role (guy is still riding on his BL drama popularity apart from that he could shine nowhere) and he is paired with jadded actress Yang Mi who is not a bad actress (even some roles she fell into the one-dimensional-performance-trap) but there is something off about her and too much plastic on her mouth area kinda ruined the way she emotes for me. Maybe I will be proven wrong and have my mouth shut.

Yeah they wanna get rid of it. Drama failed. Iqiyi got the complete opposite effect with this one compared to Can Lang Jue's the previous year. That is a humbling lesson for the production team : don't mess with the storyline ever again and cast the proper actors and actresses. Do better next time.

You should check the short drama "An Ancient Love Song". If you haven't seen those, a few chinese dramas (short or long) I recommend : -Joy of Life -Reset -Hikaru No Go -Taiwanese show "Oh No here comes trouble" -An ancient detective -Longest day in Chang'an -New face -A dream of splendor (even last few few episodes were kinda weak but drama makes you wanna know about early Song dynasty more) -Dong Lan Xue (very short drama) -Familiar stranger (short drama) -Butterflied lover (short drama) -The killer is also romantic (short drama) -Young Blood -Eldest princess on top (very short drama but strong smart heroine that is not the usual chinese goodie two shoes)
Ok this video up here (see link above) shows me why people think Yang Chao Yue, based on her skills now, is still not ready for those big MC roles in those huge dramas. What I see on this vid made me cringe a lil for her (is that emotions or constipation ?). Honestly I saw much better in cheap small short dramas (matter of fact short dramas PDs have been upping their games lately). Even controversial cheap lakorny short shows like "Maid's revenge" or "circle of love" gave us better acting with female lead actresses that can emote. Since they try and push her hard, Yang Chao Yue desperately needs acting classes. And people shall accept that for growth. Drama is not doing well.
