On youtube, I read a comment of a Chinese speaking person that our baby boy diction is very good and clear and he got an "euphonious" (Don't ask me I don't know what it means😁) voice . So if what that person says is true our bo-boy is a rare breed among that pool of young actors😎.
I interpted the extra cut scene (consensual kiss when FL was maid) differently:For me there are two scenarios…
Now I see. I think she was playing him (as shown in that other famously sensual scene when he was challenging her to shoot him). I think I have grown an obsession for FTY and DTY pairing.
One reason I think TianYi was adament in not allowing TingYao to marry his nephew and was so vocal about making her next wife (even when she said "No") is because they sl..t together when she was his "maid". Girl was no more virgin. Guy was like "sure I like you so I want you to be my wife but other than that I can't let you go to my nephew after you and I did the deed ! That is an insult"

The opium war was the ultimate shame in China History and the begining of a time period where that huge and once-upon-a-time-respected civilisation became a colony in the hands of different snakey foreign powers while being torn by violent warlords. Don't get me started on the tragic end of the imperial family (Puyi died a gardner in 1968 if I am not wrong). I wonder what's happening to the members of the Aisin Gyoro clan now in China. Have they all changed their identity ?

I see you here ! About the "allowing foreign powers part" I heard that during the Qing dynasty era, so the shogunate/Edo period (17th to 19th cent), western-European kingdoms were kinda harassing /pressuring Japan to open up their country to them which Japan rejected countlessly and they only allowed trading with China. So when I think about it I guess it might be one reason why Qing (and before that Ming) opened the country to them (look at the opium war during the Victorian era) ? We have to remember how western powers used even more cohersion and violence (most of the time extreme) to get what they wanted and the lands they desired (that way is still effective on Africa now) - take America, Australia or India for example or even Japan that had to reform by late XIX cent. since said western powers lowkeye threatened them to open up to them (the obsession with them ports) by showing they could crush them with their powerful weapons. And we all know how Japan reacted and ended up developing their own army as well, making that country that was closed and calm for 2 centuries transforms into that violent 20th cent. Asian imperialist we are taught til date. Tell me if I am lying.
I think the fact that the Heroine and Hero met before and know each other dampens my liking for the show. This is the type of trope I am not very fond of. I wish mini dramas would use character like Shen Qin and makes them FL that would reform with time and experiences and through a good man without losing her flavor and cleverness that she would use to help her husband. The pure goody-two-shoes with "special bond" with ML is getting overdone now. A character like Shen Qin is more unpredictable.
