I also wanted to askWhat dynasty is this show set in? The hairstyles and outfits are so different from the usual…
I hate the male hairstyle (Manchus didn't need to go so hard like that tho) but strangely I like the outfits of that era cause I feel it adds more machismo during the fighting scenes (results of being exposed to early 90's wuxia Pian during Jet Li heydays). And I like the official outfits as well
Hopefully can get 10000 comments its wuite interesting for this standard
I don't think it will. Drama is too mature and old school wuxia for idols-romance influenced MDL population. A drama like LBFaD can achieve that in MDL (and for good reasons don't get me wrong but 1st and foremost for being a beautiful display of romance btw two good looking fresh and young looking characters). Only in MDL cinematic piece of good work "Longest day in Chang'an" can get 8.3 (the insult) while shittier idol tianxongs or xianxias get more. So I don't see SSOFV getting even 3000 comments here.
They could've cut NL and Tian lovey dovey scenes, they took so much screentime.. . I know they want to show their…
Still Balaiya Chung gotta leave the loverboys phase to the likes of Dylans, WuLeis or what not and move on . Even actors that are years younger than him accept more mature male leads roles : look at Zhou Yi Wei, Huang Xiao Ming or Jin Dong to name a few. Even Peter Ho understood it and started picking baddies or more layered roles.
Look at the number of viewers also. Chinese drama got more various viewers in douban
Sure but 9.2 ??? Plus in MDL 8.4 ain't bad for a jdrama knowing how biased towards Kdramas and to a lesser extent cdramas this website here is. I guess I gotta check it
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERAlthough I enjoyed the drama and think it has production values, but it also has some flaws…
I.don't see that whitewashing of Tian everyone is talking about. I don't even feel like he really loves Nan Lan but he strikes me as someone envious of MRF so he wanna take what he has his wife included. He is very fake and materialistic driven. Even Hu Yidao could feel it in him reason why the 1st time they met when he tried and introduce himself Hu Yidao cut him short. And this in a wuxia drama never equal good news. The thing I can agree is the amount of scenes Tian and NL were given and I blame it of the fact that Peter Ho used to be Male lead during his prime and his star statut. I am at ep 12 so hopefully after that we will see less of that couple.
TVB 1999 Charmaine Sheh version only has the copyright for Xue Shan Fei Hu novel, and this 2022 drama only has…
I still prefer the more down-to-earth way of storytelling of TVB compared to the more dramatic/bling bling one of cdramas' but TVB at certain point should have tried and pushed themselves more with what they got to substain and survive while facing the giant China industry. They should have done it by seriously analysing the strengths and the weaknesses of both industries while looking back and learning from what made the golden age of HK cinema industry and from past failures. And then try and do some reforms to grow bigger. They can even take lil things from foreign industries to help them grow bigger. Sure China has a lot of money and ressources but HK, for the sake of survival should have used a different strategy based on quality and substances and know-how to survive. Unfortunately they have let themselves go by late 90's.
the original series and this series are in the same time frame but telling different stories of the same characters...…
But in the established story Hu Fei marries Ruo Lan doesn't he ? But Ruo Lan is still a baby in the side story here while Hu Fei is an adult...I find it creepy
I keep replaying the bowls fighting scene. Nice choreography.
