I understand your point and bless those actors and actresses. The thing is it is difficult for a lot of them to dub themselves not only because of the accent but also because voice acting needs an artist that is really good at intonations and voice modulation respecting the emotions of the character in the moment. Wang Xing Yue is from Hunan if I am not wrong so I guess he has hunan accent. Boy had to work very hard to be able to constantly dub himself in his drama today. The energy he puts in his voice as Xiao Heng is totally different from the one he puts in his role as Zhang Zhe. I wish for him to challenge himself in the future and pick roles that push him to improve. But so far we have to admit he does something a lot of actors and actresses wish they could.

This lady sometimes can be blinded by prejudice. I start and think she got sth against WXY. Cause she was like "The main leads WXY included are dubbed bla bla bla he does not come out of his comfort zone playing same type roles (since when Zhang Zhe is like Xiao Heng ? 🤔) bla bla bla he is not bad but not exceptional bla bla bla". Like girl was praising Esther Yu for her whinny acting in whinny roles applauding her for dubbing herself but on WXY girl does not know guy has never been dubbed by anyone else since he started acting in his late teens ? Crazy la. And people act as if the role of Duke Su is easy to play by any guy in his early 20's surrounded by loads of veterans.
Anybody that says Wang Xing Yue acting here is bad cannot be taken seriously. He got the role and started shooting for it when he was 21. He freaking dubs himself perfectly from all accounts (how many can do that in cdramaland even among the veterans ?) . He has shown great presence way beyond his age making viewers believe he is that charismatic and cunning Duke people shall not mess with. And he has shown really good micro expressions acting. Sure I would like him to push himself more and work in different genres and play other type of characters, but for now I sincerely think he does good with what he has to the point I don't see another actor playing Duke Su.
You know Wang Xing Yue does a dangit job at voice acting when Avenue x says in her review of "The Double", with a straight face, that my boy is dubbed. I know this lady is usually well informed so how come she doesn't know that Wang Xing Yue is dubbed by no one except himself ? Is she prejudiced against him ? 🤔
