As someone who has just started this drama at the end of last week and is breezing through the episodes - I just want to express how beautiful and comforting this drama feels. I like the friendships and how comfortable they are around each other. How supportive as well. I also enjoy the comedy a lot - sometimes you have those really soft moments and then all of a sudden everything turns into chaos and I can't help but to laugh along. Q is probably my fave out of all of them - but then all of the guys are very likeable and fun to have around. Thank you, New, for giving me another favourite drama after "Until We Meet Again" <3
I think it’s better to look at other platform ratings than mdl rating…..so bad…. I read some reviews of…
I enjoy leaving comments on MDL after watching an episode of a drama, but usually I first leave the comment and then read what others have thought because their comments sometimes can really pull down the mood. Some people here act like media experts and complain about the weirdest and tiniest things. MDL truly is an experience in itself and I have learned that it helps to block some of the more intense commenters.
This may sound a bit stupid, but this drama has my heart right now. I love watching the episodes so much, it's the highlight of every week. I like all the couples, but Sun & Lin just are so perfect and beautiful to watch. The way that Sun is so careful with Lin and his wants, how he wants to please him and just be there for him. And the way that Lin loves Sun for himself, for being so caring and romantic and a bit clumsy at times. And of course sexy *coughcough* This new episode just felt like so much - everything looked gorgeous, everything felt perfect, that feeling of romance was so ever-present during their date together. Them becoming boyfriends, spending time together, the nicknames, the ring, the dance - I could just sit back and watch them happily. At the end of the day I know that their situation is more akin to a fairytale, but it's still so sweet to watch two men who love each other already so much and who are so ready to create this dream of a date for each other. And then the more erotic scene afterwards was still directed in such an intimate and romantic way - and then the sun rise in the background. Ah, it was so great. Sorry for this long and intense comment, but I just wanted to express how happy I felt after watching this episode. <3
Oh what an intense ending to the second episode. With each word that left San's mouth, you could see Vee's face growing darker. Tbh, as soon as San mentioned Vee's sick grandma and him needing money and still continued with that accusatory/aggressive stance, I would have lost it in Vee's stead. That made my own blood boil. xD I hope they will be able to find some common ground after a (hopefully) HUUUGE "I am sorry" in the next episode. Make Vee smile again. And can I mention how much I love the soundtrack for this drama? It's beautiful.
Does the red thread have to be connected to Chinese tradition? We had the symbolism of a red thread that connects…
Why should I give you a date? I just gave you examples for other pieces of media that also use the symbolism of the red thread and then asked you why the reference needs to a Chinese one. You completely ignored that and then acted as if I was accusing you of attacking the drama. I don't know what "be reasonable Stan" has to do with that... this is just a very strange response to my honest question.
About the Chinese tradition on red thread and ring. I'm not giving an opinion about it, so read if you are interested…
Does the red thread have to be connected to Chinese tradition? We had the symbolism of a red thread that connects two people in Until We Meet Again. And if we go back in time some more - the red thread was such an important element in Takeshi Kitano's movie Dolls. Two people bound together by a red thread that wander through a landscape together, they fall from a cliff, and then the red thread gets caught on a rock and so they are still connected although they fell. So we have a Thai drama that uses that symbolism and a Japanese movie that incorporates a similar symbolism as well. Does it really need to be a connection to Chinese tradition?
If you are ok with a lil spoiler from the second episode: in one scene one character says to another that he knows his gender but that love for him basically knows no gender. And then he says that he loves the other guy. So this time it's pretty openly queer/BL.
i have a question: since this is clearly marketed as a BL drama and they circumvent the c-ent restrictions and…
Whenever I think about this question, I think of all the Danmei novels that get released in China. They are clearly very thorough when it comes to actual drama, but it doesn't look like that thoroughness extends to everyone and to all fields of media. Otherwise all Danmei novels and authors would have been blacklisted from the publishing industry.
Just finished the first two episodes and had so much fun with it. It's not too serious and there are lots of light-hearted elements to keep everything upbeat. I especially like XiaoBao and his direct approach in life. Whenever he appears, it makes me smile. His two servants are also a great addition, together they are like the golden trio of silliness. "Don't always hit Jinbao's head. He's not smart in the first place." "That's right." xD
These were some very fun and interesting first three episodes. All the guys are likeable in different ways - so let's hope that they will find some new friends or even love during this show. Some moments felt so genuine and emotional - they made me feel even more invested in what is going on. Let's wait and see what will happen with Shun and Dai.
Talking about sharing other people's work illegally and that you don't seem to care how your actions effect other people (the author mayhaps) and then mentioning (whatever) god at the end of your message speaks volumes about you and your morals. But hey, go on and enjoy your forthcoming silence and peace of mind. Seriously, just keep your weird god's blessings to yourself, I surely don't want them. Also it's funny how you totally ignore everything I said about the rules that shape the fan translation community, once again your standards are showing.
I wonder if that permission for the unofficial English translation was given before or after it was officially released in English this year. As for the rest of your comment, it is just excuses in order to talk your way out of feeling guilty for illegally sharing the unofficial translation of a novel that has officially been released. As far as I know this would be seen as shitty behaviour in the fansubbing community, so I take it the same goes for fan translations. I don't really get what "all novels" has to do with this case, same for what reading a novel makes you feel. This is simply about a bad action that financially damages the author of the original novel. (just adding this since you seem to care so much about finances and novel authors usually don't earn that much either in most cases)
Why would you upload the novel when it is officially available in English to purchase? I understand fan translations of untranslated novels but this is different. This is just shitty behaviour on your part.
Oh man, I feel so happy after finishing each of the first three episodes. The story is just so sweet and fun and makes me feel so fluffy inside. Those moments between Lin and Sun, the romantic ones and the silly ones, it just comes together beautifully. Also can I just say how nice it feels to have Sun and Lin on the same level. I mean, of course Sun is his boss - but you would never think that from watching them when it's just the two of them. Lin says what he is comfortable with and Sun has to go along with it. Except for when he teases the hell out of Lin ^^ On a side note: I am currently reading the original novel and, omg, both the book and the drama feel so different from each other. xD It's funny how they took that novel and turned it into such a sweet and somehow quite wholesome story. Daddy Sun and his "wife" Salin... thank god I was able to buy the novel during a sale ^^
Oh man, this episode. And the preview for next week! As much as I dislike Ming, it was still nice seeing the few moments of unity between Joe and Ming. It felt like a peek into a reality that could have been... and then it all came tumbling down again. Seriously, even though I saw the preview - can we just give Joe a long and peaceful holiday? The guy truly deserves it. What saved me this week was the humour of Tong's dumb actions. 'Apologizing to a guy I wronged in exchange for the money that could save me from some really scary and dangerous people? But no, my pride! I will destroy the personal life of the person I want the money from - and in exchange he will give me the money after all. I am Tong, I am so smart' His dumb face during the last scene when Ming talked to his dad. Beautiful.
I am so in love with the bed talk towards the end of the episode. The rawness of it all, how romantic it felt. Also that fear of getting hurt was so real and relatable. This is such a beautiful & relaxing drama to end the week with. <3
"Don't always hit Jinbao's head. He's not smart in the first place."
"That's right."
