Hahahaha man endured the freezing cold to try and seduce her with his collarbones :)) And her with "Can I see it again?" LOL..they're so cute! I love slow burn romances and this is really lovely. Especially with the whole second-chance circumstances (like literally!!). You can see Li Rong getting more confident in her feelings for Wen Xuan and taking baby steps towards him and him just grinning like a fool every time she does :)) He's lost her once and he's going to make sure he doesn't lose her again! And how cute are their wingmen Tong Ye and Jing Lan!

Zhang LingHe is doing such a good job portraying the besotted, supportive husband and partner.

She isn't sure about SRQ being the villain in her story yet. Also cos she believes he was forced to become someone who would go as far as to kill her only cos his entire family was (wrongfully) accused and killed off (this is something PWX himself also keeps reminding her of). So she is still giving him the benefit of the doubt and is trying to make sure that the politics in this life do not go in a way that the tragedies of her past life happen.

And if you think about it, she felt responsible for SRQ's past tragedies in some way and even felt immensely sorry towards him which is reason enough for her to constantly doubt whatever resentment might pop up during her current life. She lived with him for 17 years where he (presumably) took really good care of her and that sort of kept her going without drowning in the resentment she felt in her first life for PWX who probably was her first deep love per se after her emotionally sheltered life growing up in the palace.

Cos he was the best choice at the time. If you remember, it was his idea and he did it saying they could go their separate ways after a couple of years and once Li Chuan became the emperor. The plan was for her to marry PWX while still holding on to her feelings for SRQ, then divorce PWX and marry SRQ as the current emperor wouldn't have allowed her to marry SRQ but her brother would have (after the noble houses were stripped off power etc)

However, as with all things when it comes to humans and emotions, it became a case of the best laid plans of mice and men :))

Me too! This scene is so damn real for the way they both behaved. He is way ahead in his feelings for her because he stepped out of his head and is now on firm land when he made the first move during the showdown in the rain. And honestly, him coming on to her in that scene was also driven by insecurity and fear cos of what Rong Qing said to him. And even though I was like "How the heck can she resist all that hotness?!?", I also perfectly get where she's coming from and love that she is so human. I also love that they showed the flashback scene in that moment cos you can see how unguarded she was in her feelings for him which means the betrayal she felt would have been equally, if not more, deep. I respect that she held off cos knowing how prideful and willful she is, she would have hated herself if she had given in to that momentary need for connection and pleasure. And imagine how she would have treated Pei Wen Xuan then LOL!

I mean, it would ideally take years and a heck load of therapy for a relationship that was this fractured to get back to some semblance of normalcy and so, expecting her to drop her guard at the drop of hat after 20+ years of resentment and hate, is unrealistic. Also, like you said, the constant reminder of Rong Qing who is now telling her things she'd always wanted to hear from him in her first life, is certainly something that is going to give her constant pause. And, just because Pei Wen Xuan is showing her that he is trustworthy, doesn't mean she HAS to accept it. That is her prerogative and she can take her own time. Likewise, it is up to him as to whether he is willing to wait for her or not. They are healing at their own individual/respective pace and I am here for the ride. Cos I know that when they do accept each other wholeheartedly, I will need Pei Wen Xuan's big bath tub to go soak myself in from all the heat these two will generate LOL!!! (ps - I hate that I can't use emojis on the laptop!!!!!)

So basically, in their first life, Li Chuan wanted to make the child he had with Qin Zhen Zhen the next emperor so as to dissolve the power of the Noble Families (and also cos he sincerely loved Zhen Zhen). And Pei Wen Xuan supported this cos it also fell in line with his vision for a new age. Li Rong was against it cos she wanted the power of the Shanguangg family and other Noble Houses to stay as is. Su RongQing on the other hand had his own agenda. He wanted revenge over the current emperor’s family for annihilating his clan and castrating him. Who did he want to rule the kingdom after that then? Someone from his side?

Absolutely!! Relationships are never black and white and no matter how easy we think it is to judge from the outside, things are very, very different when we are directly involved. Maturity comes from having the grace and courage to appreciate that they both had their own reasons to behave the way they did even if we are not always able to understand said reasons. Also, they owe no one any explanations except to themselves and to each other should they choose to do so. “Cheating” is very, very subjective. In human relationships, just because there is a contract of some sorts does not mean everything is black and white. Pei WenXuan did what he thought he had to do to endure and survive and he did this by not being honest and communicating his feelings. Likewise, Li Rong did what she thought she had to do by cutting Pei WenXuan off physically and emotionally and finding comfort and solace elsewhere. Nobody is “wrong” - they just made bad choices that hurt themselves and each other. Also remember that Su Rong Qing is also an involved party and that he too had a part to play in all of this and did so for his selfish reasons. 🙂🙂

Like you, I am enjoying the drama and can’t wait to see what happens next wrt all the characters! 😀

If he is also reliving his life (which I think he is) I think he knows that he doesn’t stand a chance with Li Rong as she is very supportive of her brother. And if he were to go against her brother in support of his family, then Li Rong wouldn’t spare him.

I absolute love the direction their relationship is going in. Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan are so beautiful for behaving like real, flawed humans with their childhood conditioning, insecurities, ego and prejudices. Neither were very emotionally astute people but the knowledge that comes with hindsight after having lived those 20+ years has enabled them to view their relationship through a new lens. I love this idea of a second chance from the beginning of their lives together. 🙂

I love how Pei Wen Xuan seems so self-assured after his showdown with her in the rain and is now going all out to make it evident to her that she can trust him and his words. He never gave her this assurance in their past life. Communication is definitely key. You can see Li Rong has gradually changed after his conversation with her in regards to how she treats Zhen Zhen and even going as far as to tease Pei Wen Xuan about her. That was a cute moment 😀 It broke my heart to see Li Rong’s older past telling her to be on guard lest she be hurt again. It isn’t easy to simply believe this brand new information that Pei Wen Xuan has dumped on her regarding his feelings for her and his (non)relationship with Zhen Zhen. Kudos to Wen Xuan for taking every chance to reassure her, though.

Su RongQing doesn’t stand a chance to come in between these two in either a personal or political capacity anymore! Li Rong has finally become the rational person she claims herself to be and started analyzing her past actions and behaviors and the intense emotions she felt in her past life and seeing herself in a better way. This is also shown when she stood with Li Chuan against their mother and had that honest conversation with him about standing on opposing sides. Love it overall!!!! JinMai is fantastic as Li Rong and Zhang Ling He is such a believable Pei WenXuan!

As he belongs to one of the noble families that currently supports the emperor, he knows that if he marries the princess, the emperor would not spare his life for fear that his family would fight for the child (that he has with the princess) to become the next emperor. Etc etc. Too much politics involved. Which is why he specifically said that his father asked him not to get involved and only be a ‘guest’ at the tea party.
