I am off now to catch ep 1 of Summit of our youth with Chen Xing Ke. I don't know about you guys but I am currently happy with 2025 because I saw dramas with Dylan Wang, Xiao Zhan, Li Xian, Bai Jing Ting and Zhang Ling He.

I am currently feeling mellow so even when the female character here hasn't matched up to my expectations- I don't really care. I do wish even if the actress is small and slight that she has a bigger persona though. There are a lot of small slight actresses playing a male role in Cdramas. Its not as if its something new. Its just that I had expected her role to be display more charisma. You know how some actors can project and appear more intense. So is it the writing or the actress? I cannot tell. Its not as if I don't like her. I've rewatched one of her dramas like 10 times. Honestly. Not kidding.

Why don't you go with the flow. You know the actors can act. The budget is there. The novel has been written. You aim too high you'll crash down hard.

There will be another drama one day with all of that. If there is any consistency in Cdramas- they churn them out by the bucketloads each year. I am just grateful at present wwith the actors.

Yeah. What happened to ep 5? I presume viki will catch up. Episode 1 and 2 are dropping today. I am extremely excited to start but can force myself to wait till Sunday if I want ep 5 from viki.

However I'm in an extremely mellow mood because this is starting, I am actually ok with The Immortal Accession and watching Bastard Wargod. That drama makes me laugh with how melodramatic it is with a lot of posturing and zero fight scenes. Against TIM which is fight, fight and more fights.

I am looking forward to seeing an actual historical drama where the actors actually talk to each other. There is not talking in TIM. BW has one person sprouting off and the ML trying to look fierce but its so bad its good. The bared female shoulders, the heaving cleavage, the dainty miss looks, the F/F bed scenes. That drama is a hoot.

I am used to 2 episodes Fri to Sun and single episodes on Mon to Thur.

I am not complaining but two days of double episodes. Is it going to continue? I need to be mentally prepared.

Any random episodes? I watched The Journey To You and couldn't recall anything outstanding in the CGI. I need to compare all 3 now to this. I have about 2hrs to spare. I actually don't have any major issues with the CGI here with the monsters. What I actually have issues with all the actors arm postures and when using the wirework. Some actors do it better. Every time they cock their elbows up to appear to fly I cringe.

What's new and good special effects then? Honest question. If you could tell me which drama or roughly which episodes I'd go watch it. To compare.

The reality is vastly different from the Cdrama world. Its even worse if you have kids.

I am ethinically Chinese but never been to China. I have contact and also work with Chinese migrants. I actually do speak Mandarin but half my family is also ethnically Korean. Hence the Korean and Chinese dramas because I have to maintain fluency for my kids sake to teach them. The morals and values displayed in the modern Cdramas are actually quite the opposite of my values. I don't watch the serious historical dramas because its so blood thirsty.

You can go for a visit but don't stay there. I also have acquaintances who either moved as a couple or a spouse moved there for work. The marriages all don't end well. My current director at work also worked in China and S Korea- he came back to Australia with a Korean wife. I meet a fair few Chinese parents who came over to look after their grandkids.

I feel the need to offer apologies to anyone I offend. I didn't mean to turn this into a political discussion. I was actually brought up with the traditional Confucian value sort of family. My generation are the ones with university education and with numerous post grad qualifications * eye roll * Yup. Pressure, pressure, pressure. This is in spite of both parents studying college in the UK. Plus the obligatory music lessons. We also can trace the family history for 500 years on the paternal side- rare family name so its easier. So I would literally won't go well with the social, morale, work ethics if I had to move to China. The sheer crowding and either driving, public transport and pollution levels would make me run back.

So no, don't move to China.

I understand the values and behaviour when I see it happen here but some anti- social behaviours which are the norm there are not transferable here. 2 of my main peeves are letting the little kids urinate on the pavement. This is Australia. There are toilets at most public parks. You really cannot do that. The other is intense bargaining even when its not the done thing at the fresh fruit, veg and meat shops at the market.

I haven't asked the novel readers if there are that many fight scenes. I don't bother asking for plot progression here because its not a cerebral kind of drama. I laugh quite hard each time I see YY flip his hair. He has been in historical dramas before but I've never noticed this persistent hair flicking habit.

This drama is built on being flashy.

Hang on... for those of you who is convinced he has a wife or romance. What do you guys mean? Did the first wife die? Isn't she an immortal?

And a reincarnation? That's still a different human. So was she still human in which case she will die?

I snickered because my kid was mouth agape saying it was " sick " while accidentally watching ep 19. It is really like a video game. I don't know what to say though because he fell asleep before the episode ended.

Hah. Its like a video game. This is the first time I'm wondering what kind of wuxia drama is this? Is it literally all fights in each episode?

Oh I didn't care about the romance. All the other wuxia dramas all had cultivators who have old friends or good friends. Or even devoted disciples.

I busted a gut laughing at the description then discovered its a web drama.

Edit- I have now finished 11 episodes. They must have some budget as the costumes arere now low budget. However the gilt covered throne made me laugh a lot.

The main female leads and the 3 young men all had plastic surgeries. However the minor characters really do need plastic surgery. At the very least- dental veneers and some skin peels.

The plot is god-awful bad. Is it an AI writing it? They also didn't spend money on the videographer. That was some truly awful camera panning and editing. And close ups.

The worst of the lot are the writers. So much posturing but not a single action scene. Just people uselesssly .

It's not bad. I would say one of the better weekend dramas for the last 5 years. I agree episodes 53 to 54 were epic weekend drama endings. As ending goes.

I think you might need oto google about Shinhwa. Its a 1st generation idol band and the longest running at 27 years now. I have 2 favourite members in that group.

However it is admirable they still get along. You should google what Kim Dong Wan looks like now when he is not Heung Soo. And what he looked like when he was younger.

Yoo In Young looks absolutely gorgeous too as a model. Or basically when she is not her on- screen character.

It wasn't a bad weekend drama. Uhm Ji Won was actually lovely in all the wedding dresses. She actually put on some of the loveliest dresses in all the Kdramas I've seen. I snickered as I saw her dressed as the CEO's wife the last 2 episodes. She really looks good in any looks. Her body is perfect for any fashion style.

The twins were cliched but heck all the kids in this drama were super cute. Baby Hani to young Hani.

So Bom and Kang Soo have been dating for over a year hey?

I actually thought Heung Soo's wife was delusional offering a fan meeting and all.

Gotta say this drama has peeved me off the least in all the weekend dramas I've watched over the last 5 years. Not bad. Not bad at all.
